Totally Wigging Out At The Hair Fair!

The Hair Fair. Guys, unless you live in a cave (if you do, I am coming over to watch ESPN and drink beer) you know it’s a big deal on Second Life. All month there has been a traffic jam as avies crowded, pixel against pixel, to see what the best hair creators on Second Life had to show off, and what freebies they set out to lure us in. Well, now things have gotten a bit less crowded and the level of lag is much more comfortable, so it’s a great time for us guys to go have a look. Most of the free items available at Hair Fair are for female avies, but there are some male and unisex hairs offered plus a hat or two for you to discover. Finding quality male hair as a freebie is quite a challenge, so I wouldn’t miss an opportunity like this if I were you.

My favorite men’s item I found at The Hair Fair this year is offered as a FREE gift from Exile @ Hair Fair. Part of the Jack And Jill Hair Fair Gift, Jack is a stylish modern cut with the top of the head covered by a mesh piece, and the sides and back covered by a hairbase. A unique aspect of this hairbase is that it is offered in 3 hues, and you may manually tint all three of them to get just the match you are looking for. On my avy, I resized the top mesh portion a bit smaller until I got the look I wanted. This is a fatpack and has tons of colors offered in a hud based system. Exile @ Hair Fair gives you everything you need to get it looking perfect for your avi. That’s extraordinary for a FREE men’s hair.

I, much like many guys on Second Life, wear black often. By often, I mean all the time and in every shade imaginable! That’s why I grinned ear to ear when I saw this denim shirt and jacket set from Tori’s Stylez at Retail Therapy! Yes, that is a bit of fuchsia, Fabbies, but no worries. It won’t bite. The Ewan SE- Fuchsia Black Jacket & T-Shirt is a brilliant bit of color while catering to our very masculine addiction to black. Tori’s Stylez at Retail Therapy offers this one-piece garment in five sizes for easy fitting. It is a 10L hunt prize on The Summer Hunt 2015. You are looking for a very small brightly colored star. This is a darned fine looking hunt prize, I hope you enjoy it.

Another fantastic FREE gift at The Hair Fair is this long hair offering from Asset @ Hair Fair! The Miracle Hair comes in a fatpack of colors and uses a hud system to change them. Also worth noting: it comes with a set of six head alphas to help make your head invisible under the hair. It is an interesting way to handle that, and I think I will probably be able to use the alphas on other outfits as well. So, it’s a great bonus feature! The hair itself is mesh and has a true rock and roll look! So much so, that once I had it on, I had to run out and buy a guitar! The fit on my head shape took a bit of fiddling to perfect, and I like to wear a hairbase as well, so I added one under it for a finishing touch. If you like long hair this is a must pick up!

I could have worn black leather, but I knew you would be expecting it now that I am a rock star. I decided to switch it up with a very nice FREE Group gift jacket from SZD Fashion. The Leather Jacket in Light Brown caught my eye not simply for the brown tones in it, but rather for the distinct olive tones. The overall texture appears dark but look closer. You will see the nicely balanced tones are very pleasing and give you a wide range of color options when matching it with your other clothes. Another surprising feature of this jacket is that you get it in two sizes of Fitmesh! I don’t have much Fitmesh yet, but this jacket fit me perfectly when I slipped it on. Kudos to SZD Fashion for making a great fit easy!

It has been quite a fun day, from the hustle and bustle of a very successful Hair Fair event, to getting so excited over a FREE hair that I bought a guitar and nearly went on tour! Oh! What Goes Around, Comes Around!

I never intended it to happen, but do you have an article of clothing that you rely on as a “go to” item, one that absolutely refuses to age? I do! And, later in this post, we are going to celebrate its one-year anniversary in my wardrobe. First though, check out what I found last night! I went by a store named Cold Ash, which specializes in fantastically detailed, rugged-looking men’s clothing. I found this vintage style T-shirt as their FREE Group Gift! The Mesh Austin Tee in STEEL BLUE is a fine representation of the quality that goes into the clothing that Cold Ash makes. Anyone who knows me knows I am a sucker for T-Shirts that look soft and well-worn, and this ribbed cotton T-shirt hangs beautifully with soft, realistic folds. It’s like it was never meant to be taken off. In the FREE Group Gift, you get 3 sizes and an additional 2 sizes in fitmesh, so getting a good fit won’t be any problem. Stop by Cold Ash, this is a must pick up! The pants I chose to wear with it are the current FREE Group Gift from Lavarock, likely my favorite male clothing store on Second Life. They are the Destroy Male Jeans and are probably one of the grungiest items in my wardrobe. I love the texture on them. Honestly, if I ever move to Seattle to pursue my dreams of alt-rock super stardom, these are the jeans I am going to wear! They come in 2 styles, with five sizes of each included in the gift. The only problem is they have been out for quite a while, and at the moment I am unable to say how much longer they will remain available. If you like them in the picture, go get them immediately. I suspect they may not be available much longer. The last item in the Cold Ash inspired outfit is the cap, which was just one of those lucky finds you sometimes run across accidentally. It is a 1L hunt prize from a hunt which is sadly already over. Luckily, the owner of Ashmoot forgot to pick up the hunt prize! It’s only 1L and the cap matches the T-shirt wonderfully. Sadly I can’t recall the name of the hunt, but you are looking for a hunt object shaped like a mask called “P-H Hunt # 8”. Look for it where you find the daily prize boards. Kristabel Ashmoot promises me she will leave it out until the end of the month so we all have a chance to grab it (a VERY sweet thing to do for us). Be sure to pick it up before it’s too late!

I teased you that as I write this I am celebrating an anniversary of sorts, and I have Lyrieal’s Boutique to thank for it. I recently attended “Just For Him”, a cart sale like event with a 1L mini-hunt where I found this great leather jacket! It comes from Lyrieal’s Boutique and is their Just For Him Hunt Prize. It has a hud that allows you to choose 5 different colors in both the leather and the lining. For a single linden, that’s great value. The event is not a large one, but I should have known Lyrieal’s Boutique would have something special out. This brings me to the anniversary: I was dying to show you this jacket and was having trouble finding just the right pants to present it with, so I decided to go with my “go to” grey system jeans and Mesh boots, tinting the jeans a bit darker to match. After doing the picture, I began putting together this post, and found I had reason to smile. Those beloved jeans and boots of mine are from a hunt one year ago today…and were previously blogged here by a young guest blogger. Coincidentally, they also came from Lyrieal’s Boutique! So, to celebrate the one-year anniversary of their posting in Fab Free, the In The Pink outfit has been added to the 1L hunt prize, making it even better. It is a great looking outfit and the jeans are tintable to match a wide range of grays, so they are super handy to have around. Even the boots are nice, you can’t beat this value. I had originally planned to end my post here, and call it a night, but once I get going I am hard to stop. So in the spirit of “You really should check out the Just For Him sales event”, here is a final addition to my post below!

While I was at the sale, I noticed a pair of shorts on the back wall of the booth belonging to the store Trashed. Just like the other coincidences this week (the hat which looked great with the T-shirt that was accidentally left out, and the nice jeans I decided to wear being posted to fab free exactly one year ago today) these denim shorts look like they were made to go with the Cold Ash T-Shirt I picked up this week. The Trashed Men’s denim shorts in plaid are not free, but this is a sale event as well as a hunt and these shorts look really great. If you love that T-shirt as much as I do, that is reason enough to pony up the extra 85L for these shorts to go with them. They make a fantastic pair together. May has been a fantastic month for hunting, and perhaps my favorite men’s hunt gift of them all is this brilliant bit of color from Lyrieal’s Boutique & Furrtastic for the Shades Of Pink Hunt.  Now I know what you guys are thinking, and yes the shirt is pink.  It’s not like you want to stand out from all the cyber dorks dressed head to toe in black leather or anything, I mean they look so cool.  Sometimes though, you simply have to man up, break out of the pack and show off a little, and this is a wonderfully eye catching outfit to do that in.  The top portion is mesh of course with the vest, shirt and tie integrated into it.  The pants are simple pants layer jeans, not mesh but well done, and the mesh boots alone make this a bargain even if you lack the stones to show a little color.  Shades Of Pink Hunt, 1L Grab it now because come June first its going to be gone.  By the way, if you are man enough to wear pink I still have you beat because I own a vintage orange “Cheetos” tee shirt in real life and I can totally rock that.  It’s good to be a man.——–WHC Riler

Here Comes the Sun

The candy factory gets all wet!

So, the april round of the candy factory begins April 1st. This round’s theme is “water”, and it’s a gatcha round! Here’s a sample of what the designers have to offer!

Zoe’s garden has a lovely set of materials-enabled dance fountains for you to collect this round! On the left is the RARE, rose couple’s dance fountain (23 land impact), and on the right is the blue tile dance fountain (10 land impact), which is a common. I tried to get both of these in the same photo, but they are so large that it just wasn’t possible in the small space I’m using! There are 5 of these to collect, and the gatcha is $L35  to play!

Their second gatcha contains tulips in watering cans! These are super cute, and would be perfect on a patio, in a home, or even decorating a shop! There are 5 to collect, and the gatcha is just $L15 per play

Dondi’s doodads has a nautical living room set as one of their 2 gatcha sets this round. There are 8 pieces to collect, and the gatcha is $L50  to play. Here I have the ULTRA-RARE couch (11 land impact), 2 UNCOMMON book shelves (13 land impact each), and a common coffee table (4 land impact). Try not to get too “nauti”, on the couch, which includes multiple sits, couples animations, and even adult animations. The super cute “Apple of my eye” wall art is NOT a Candy factory item! These come from Frogstar and are a FREE prize in the apple of my eye hunt, which starts tomorrow!

Sour pickles‘ first gatcha contains a beautiful set of flowers and plants in pots of various types. The gatcha is $L30 per play and there are 21 items to collect. 2 items are ULTRA-RARE, 2 are RARE, and the rest are common. Here I have the ULTRA-RARE Hydrangea (1 land impact) on the left, the common tall yucca (2 land impact) in the center, and the common purple heart plant (3 land impact) on the right. Holding up the lovely plants are the equally lovely Torcello end tables by Frogstar. These tables are for the home show, which starts April 1st as well, and are $L50 each, or $L250 for the 8 colour fatpack.

The second gatcha from Sour pickles contains a ton of pieces to build your own pirate dock! Here I’m showing a small crate, a lantern, and the pirate ship (RARE). There are 11 pieces in the set, and the gatcha is $L35 to play

 

Toxic High has 2 clothing-packed gatchas in various shades of blue. Each pack includes appliers for breasts as well as booties! Gatcha 1 contains 4  full outfits, and is $L40  to play. 1 of 2 gatchas from sugar & cyanide contains cute wellies! I am such a sucker for wellies! There are 11 pairs, 2 of which are RARE, and the gatcha is $L50 to play. These two pairs are the common black and red.

The second of these gatchas contains seahorse huggables! There are 9 seahorsies for you to snuggle (1 rare), and the gatcha is $L50 to play. The two I have here are pink and yellow, and are both commons.

Ez’s has some fun watery appliers for your meshy parts in their gatchas! Their first gatcha contains slink nail appliers in 20 styles. The gatcha is $L20 to play. From left to right, I’m showing off French waves – DS, which is a RARE, Sea fade #1, and storm.

Their other gatcha contains super sexy loud mouth lippie appliers. There are 10 lovely lippies for you to try out, and each play of the gatcha is $L20. I have on Atlantis (RARE), lagoon, and lake.

LooLoo has 2 gatchas this round, one stocked full of soft, light, sun dresses, 4 of which I’m showing here! The gatcha has 7 dresses, one of which is rare. I’m wearing, from left to right, rainbow (RARE), strawberry, grape, and lime. Each play is $L50

Their second gatcha is full of more wellies! These cuties come in 6 colours and have stars all over them. The gatcha is $L50 per play, and there is 1 rare, which is the full pack of boots!.

Lyrieal’s boutique has 2 gatchas, each full of slink nail polish appliers. Gatcha #1 has 6 packs of murky water themed appliers, with 5 colour polishes in each pack. On my nails is one shade of each of these (from left to right): Murky waters gradient, murky waters high waves, and murky waters iconic (RARE). Each play of the gatcha costs $L40

Gatcha #2 also has 6 packs of appliers, with 5 polishes in each pack. On my nails this time (from left to right) is: Stormy water pearls (RARE), stormy water low waves, and stormy water bubbles. This gatcha is $L40 per play

Co*Motion‘s first gatcha is filled with mesh dresses, all with water-themed prints, and in shades of blue. There are 11 dresses, one of which is rare, and the gatcha is $L50 to play

Their second gatcha has a multitude of different things including: Earrings, hair, a skin, eyes, a full mini avatar, wings, and more! This gatcha has 10 items in it, and costs $L50 per play They also have a cheapie at the event, for just $L10, you can get the swimsuit and skirt I have on!

Dondi’s doodads‘ second gatcha is full of everything you need for a fun day at the beach! 8 pieces complete this set, and each play is $L35

While you’re at the beach, you’re going to need a cute dress, right? Glo*mart has you covered! Their tropical print dresses come in 6 variations, and the gatcha is $L50 to play

And last, but most certainly not least, La Noir Soleil designs has 2 gatchas for us! Their first gatcha has a lovely set of adornments for your face. These come in 8 colours, and the gatcha is $L74 to play

Their second gatcha is chock full of watery poses! There are 10 magical poses to collect, and the gatcha is $L47 per play. Both of these were shown off by love a few days ago [HERE]
