It’s an 8bit Christmas

8 Bit Christmas

Hunting time again.

Happy Saturday everyone! It’s the weekend once again and that means it’s time to dig into more hunts. I’ve been trying out a few this past week and aside from getting mixed up and turned around (happened quite a bit, unfortunately) my loot bag has been stuffed to the brim with goodies. One such example is the beautifully quirky 8bit Christmas dress that’s out from Eclectic Stars for the Meet Me Under the Mistletoe hunt. If you’ve read Pru’s post {HERE} Eclectic Stars carries a wide range of unique and nerdy clothing and furniture pieces and the 8bit Christmas dress is no exception. True to its name the dress features cute pixel Santas, reindeers, Christmas trees and candy canes and gave me quite the nostalgic kick for the old video games I used to play (Pac-Man!) Coupled with the vivid Christmas-y color scheme of greens and reds you’ll surely have a great dress for this season. The 8bit Christmas dress comes in 5 Fitmesh sizes (XS-XL) with an alpha layer to help with the fit as well as sizing for Belleza, Maitreya and Slink Physique mesh bodies. Prizes in the Meet Me Under the Mistletoe hunt costs 1L but if you’d rather not poke around the store you can buy the prize for 25L from the mistletoe prize prim. Personally, I’d take some time to peruse the items in Eclectic Stars as they do have a free no group needed advent calendar up, not to mention a Midnight Mania board and their free FabFree group gift! Curious to see what that is? Take a peek at Julianna’s post {HERE}

Tis the season…

To join groups for free! Moon hair store has set their group join fee to 0L and they have a wide range of group gifts out for you to pounce on. I’ve been watching this store for a while because of their elegantly casually hairstyles and beautiful hair colors and was pretty pleased to have discovered this free join period. Pictured is the Mias La II which is but one of many group gifts available. While I was partial to the dusty light purple version of this hairstyle there are nine other out of the ordinary colors to choose from an easy to use Hud that’s included in the gift package. Once you’re in the group, you can take advantage of group only Lucky Letter boards and Midnight Mania board. I’m not sure when Moon’s free group join exercise will end so join up soon.

This glittery Christmas

The holiday season is a good excuse for glitter and since I love shiny things and shoes from Baby Monkey I zoomed right over to the store when I saw that they’ve generously set out a gift for the Fabulously Free in SL group. As you well know the Fabulously Free in SL group is free to join and if you’re not a member yet you can copy and paste the following link into the main chat of your SL viewer and click on the link when it pops up on local. The link is: secondlife:///app/group/020fa7af-444d-f54f-01e2-557ec06315fd/about . Welcome to the group, please grab your free shoes. Classic pumps are a staple in any shoe collection and these come in six (you read that right) beautiful glittery colors. Just click on the hud provided in the gift package and have fun matching your shoes to your outfit. The Glitter Pumps come in sizes for Belleza, Maitreya, and Slink High feet. When you’re done grabbing your free group gift, check out the no group needed lucky letter chairs (two for guys as well) and the advent tree that’s set out at the Baby Monkey Mainstore!

8 Bit Christmas headshotThe search is still on!

In my last post {HERE} I said that two of my favorite skin stores are participating in the Women Only Hunt 2. If you guessed that the other store is 7 Deadly s{K}ins then you’re right and they’re offering the Amina skin shown above. You can get sweet-faced Amina for 0L by hunting out the snowflake at the 7 Deadly s{K}ins main store and once you’ve found it be ready to be in for a treat. The prize package contains the Amina classic skin in six skin tones (caramel shown) with cleavage/no cleavage options. Four skin tones (caramel, fudge, sand and taupe) have cluster packages that include appliers for Banned, Wowmeh, Tango, Phatazz and Slink Hands and Feet whereas appliers for Tango, Pthatazz and Slink Hands and Feet are provided for the skin tone Powder. It’s a very generous and top quality gift but I’ve found that it’s par for course for 7 Deadly s{K}ins. If you’re not a group member, do think about joining up as the store is holding a group only advent and the join fee for the group is free.

I also mentioned…

That Mesange was participating in the Women Only Hunt 2 and that their gift was a trio of beautiful Ice Dream Eyes. I’ve been wearing the blue pair the entire week and decided to switch up to the green pair for this picture. The colors are very stunning and I love the snowy glaze on these green peepers just as much as I love them on the blue. If you haven’t picked up this lovely prize, it’s available for free when you find the snowflake at the Mesange main store. Prize package includes system layer eyes, mesh eyes and Genesis and Omega System huds.

If you’ve missed the coverage for the Women Only Hunt 2, here’s a rundown:

Gotta get back to those hunts now. Have fun on your weekend dear readers!

A Mantra for the Weekend

Netflix Nutella and Naps

Those lovely long gone weekends.

Sometimes I can’t believe how fast those weekends zip by. It almost always seems that I blink and somehow teleported myself into another Monday. Hmm…I hope that isn’t some sort of hidden superpower manifesting itself but thankfully though I managed to make last weekend fruitful but getting into some hunts I’ve been meaning to do. Ever since I saw Pru’s post {HERE} about a pair of lovely and free boots from Perch, completing the Women Only Hunt 2 quickly made it’s way up to the top of my bucket list. This free hunt runs until the 24th of this month and there is a nifty hunt hud that you can pick up at the organizer’s main office which makes teleporting from store to store and getting hunt hints a breeze. Since I’m behind (what else is new yeah?) and am going to try my hand at doing a few hunts at once this really came in handy!

Back to knitwear.

In these chilly months, I’ve really come to miss my T-Shirts with their quirky quotes so opening up the hunt prize from American Bazaar and finding this oversized knit sweater was really a pleasant surprise. Not only is this comfy find well made and textured, I was also tickled by the caption on the front. Netflix Nutella and Naps…it’s good to have plans for next weekend don’t you think? This oversized sweater comes in five standard mesh sizing (XS-XL) with a good alpha layer to keep things nice and fitted. Just hunt out the snowflake at American Bazaar and this cozy addition to your wardrobe can be yours for free.

The thing about leggings…

Is that I can’t seem to get enough of them this season, especially the ones with the pretty prints and eye-catching colors. It’s a good thing then that the Women Only Hunt prize at Boutique #187 yielded up the Xmas knit beige leggings. Not only will these keep me warm while out on a jaunt on a snowy sim, the festive prints, and vivid colors certainly put me in a jolly mood. The Xmas leggings come in a system pants layer for those with a classic body and also a great hud that incorporates appliers for Belleza, Maitreya, and Slink mesh bodies as well as mesh bodies compatible with the Omega system. It’s a great space saver where inventory is concerned so hunt out that snowflake and get your leggings for free.

Who does your hair again?

In this post {HERE} I mentioned two new group gifts from the Truth VIP group and pictured is the second style. While I don’t own a great many short hairstyles, I fell in love with the Irenka hairdo straightaway thanks to it’s casual, wavy style. That tousled look is perfectly paired up with the beanie and not only will you get a hud to play around with beanie customization you’ll also get the option for added bangs. As with the Irena hairstyle, the Irenka hairdo comes in a fatpack of colors too. The Truth VIP group has a one time fee of 350L but we’ve gotten 3 hairstyles so far so it’s a great deal.

Back to the hunt!

Two of my favorite skin stores are participating in the Women Only Hunt 2 and one of those is WoW Skins. While hunting I noticed that they had their December group gift out and I immediately picked it up as well. I’ve always adored the glossiness of the skins from this merchant and December’s group gift, Janette, didn’t disappoint. The subtle blush on the skin is so very pretty and really brings to mind how flushed skin looks when you’ve been out in the chill. December’s group gift consists of the Janette classic skin in Tan with cleavage/no cleavage options as well as Catwa and Omega appliers.  The Janette group gift is free to current members and it’s 450L to join. If you do decide to make the investment, past gifts will also be available to you as well as Lucky Letter and Midnight Mania boards.

Frosted sight.

As soon as I saw that Mesange was participating in the Women Only Hunt 2 I thought, well there goes my decision to stick to one eye color. I’ve really enjoyed wearing the expressive eyes from this merchant and their Women Only Hunt 2 prize is no different. The aptly named Ice Dream Eyes fits in perfectly for this snowy season and if you’re into role playing as supernatural creatures these frosty pair of eyes are something that you could wear all year round. The best thing about this hunt prize, aside from being free of course, is the fact that you’ll get not one but three different dreamy eye colors. Pictured are the blue pair but there are green and gray as well. In the prize package, you’ll receive for all three colors, system eyes, mesh eyes and a hud for the Genesis mesh head as well as the Omega hud for mesh heads compatible with that system.

And that’s a wrap. Happy Hunting dear readers! For more coverage of the Women Only Hunt 2 check out the following posts:

LOTUS for the Holiday

LOTUS Gift 1Hello again Fab Free’rs! I am not sure why but I am always surprised at how quickly Christmas seems to come about right after Thanksgiving. Suddenly it seems like there’s no time at all, and everyone is busy. I hope each of you is able to take the time to enjoy the people you love, be they friends, family or both. One of my biggest challenges about all the holiday gatherings is finding the right thing to wear! This year LOTUS has you covered for at least one of your holiday gatherings. They have a few pretty group gifts I’m excited to share with you today, so I’ll get right to it!

LOTUS Group Gift Sweater & Skirt

The lovely ensemble pictured above is the most recent group gift at LOTUS. This sweater and skirt combo comes in a single mesh size, and is all one piece. I love the textures in this outfit, the sweater looks genuinely soft and fuzzy on, and has just a touch of elegance with the little pearls. To get the gift you’ll need to join the LOTUS group, which is 99 lindens to join.LOTUS Gift 2

LOTUS Group Gift Eyes

In addition to the sweater/skirt combo, there is a group gift set of mesh eyes out at LOTUS. While wearing the LOTUS group tag, click the vendor and you’ll get the gift. This gift includes 6 pairs of mesh eyes in green, aqua, blue, brown, and lilac. I went with the green eyes for this photo, however the other eye colors in this gift are equally pretty.

Here are the details, Enjoy!

I Sing the Body Electric

I Sing the Body Electric

Gaps in the wardrobe.

Gaps? But Sheidey what are you talking about? Some Second Life inventories are possibly related to literal black holes! In all seriousness, though I took a good long look at the theoretical mass (and mess!) that is my inventory and realized that I didn’t have very many options when it came to pants. Needing a quick fix and seeing as throwing away my dresses and skirts were out of the question, I decided to hit some sales. In my previous post {HERE} I mentioned a store called Wertina and not only do they sell some great shoes, but they also have a good variety of clothing items in stock as well. Pictured is the Biker pants in black that are simply a study in fitted leather and look great at any angle. The leather studs that go down on either side of the pants are a great feature just like the distressed leather detailing around the knees. The Biker pants come in five standard mesh sizes (XS-L) with an alpha layer included and cost just 15L because of the closing down sale that Wertina is holding. Pop down to the store to browse! With everything marked down to 5L-35L, you might just find something to fill up the gaps in your wardrobe too.  The closing sale at Wertina ends on the 31st of December.

More metallic goodness!

Now that I have a perfect pair of pants, I was determined to find some fitting footwear for it. Luckily enough Enertia is offering up the Kehlani heels as a free group gift and the metallic sheen to the straps and body of these shoes was exactly what I was looking for. Personally, I feel that the edgy style of these heels paired off nicely with the outfit, but if metallics aren’t your cup of tea there’s also a Hud included in the gift package with five other color options. What’s more, you’ll be getting sizing for Slink, Maitreya, and Belleza feet as well. Add the Kehalni heels into your shoe collection today by joining the Toxxic Designs Studios group for free.

It’s a hair affair!

Hairology has been a hot topic here with the ladies of FabFree and rightly so as the 1st Anniversary of the event is filled with awesome goodies from top quality designers. I found the final touch to my outfit there in the form of a dollarbie hair gift from Vanity Hair. Buns have such a bad rep for being uptight but this beautifully textured updo is simply elegant. Natural colors isn’t something that I’d usually go for when hairstyles are concerned but this gift and it’s Hud that contains four rich tones to choose from certainly inspired me to give the ‘naturals’ a chance. While there is no alpha layer provided, there’s a nifty resizer in the hud which makes fitting hassle free and the hairdo itself has copy permissions enabled so that you can make duplicates for backup. This round of Hairology closes at the end of the month so don’t miss out!

For more coverage on the gifts at Hairology check out these posts:

I Sing the Body Electric Headshot

 In plain sight.

While slapping the Midnight Mania boards at WoW Skins the other day I ran into (literally, thanks lag) this free gift in the games room. This very generous gift contains the classic Soraya skin in the tan tone with both cleavage/no cleavage options as well as appliers for Phat Azz, Slink Hands and Feet, Ghetto Booty and Lolas Tango. You’ll also receive a brow base and shape but my favorite aspect of this skin aside from the fact that it’s totally free are the two freckles tattoo layer that comes included in the package as well. My very first skin in SL was freckled as well so it was good to come back to the look after a while away.

Speaking of going back to old looks, I’ve gone back to blue-grey eyes as well after experimenting with different colored peepers. The aptly named Athena eyes are a free gift from Mesange and not only will you be receiving system eyes but mesh ones as well with Genesis and Omega Huds. I feel wiser already for snapping up this gift and maybe I’ll be sticking to this pair for a while.

And that’s a wrap. I’d like to wish a happy and safe Thanksgiving to those who celebrate it. Have fun out there dear readers. Till next time!

Beautiful Era

Beautiful era

Such exciting times!

Looks like the FabFree Group Gift list is growing again and I hope you’ve wasted no time in reaping all of the generous offerings. For my part, I had fun hopping from store to store and now with everything unpacked and organized (whew!) I’ve come to share one of these gifts with you plus some other free and under 75L finds. If you aren’t a part of the FabFree group yet, get in on the fun by pasting the following link into the local chat of your SL viewer secondlife:///app/group/020fa7af-444d-f54f-01e2-557ec06315fd/about and then clicking on the link. Are you all set? Great! Cause I’m ready to share!

A spoonful of sugar makes the medicine go down…

Hunting out great deals for all you lovely readers out there is not something that I would consider a chore but one look at the Tiffany dress from Belle Epoque immediately brought to mind this song from the Mary Poppins movie. Not only is the lovely lavender coloring reminiscent of candy floss, its hooped skirt and delicate lace detailing add a very feminine touch. The buttons on this dress are well-crafted, eye-catching details and I appreciate that they go right up to the dress’ high collar.  I haven’t had the chance to strike role playing off my bucket list but I imagine that this dress would be a good fit on a Steampunk or Victorian sim. The Tiffany dress comes in five standard mesh sizes (XXS-L) with an alpha layer included in the folder to help with the fitting. All you need to do to have this beautiful new addition to your wardrobe is to head on over to Belle Epoque, activate your Fabulously Free in SL group tag and click away. The dress is yours for free. While you’re there at Belle Epoque as they have other beautiful dresses with a vintage feel in their collection.

Step out in style!

I’ve paired off the Tiffany dress with boots (what else?) from Baby Monkey one of my favorite shoe stores. Sometimes it’s hard to find boots with both a relaxed and formal feel to them but I think that the Pixie boots manage to balance out these two facets really well with the studded detailing and low heel. What’s better is that the Pixie boots are made for both mesh and classic system feet. In the package, you will receive a pair for classic feet as well as pairs for Belleza, Maitreya, and Slink flat feet. An alpha layer and boot fitter are also included in the pack as well as an easy to use Hud which will help you modify the look and feet of your boots to your liking. The Pixie boots are just one of the group gifts available at Baby Monkey and there is a one-time fee of 20L to join.

Not so wicked witch…

It seems that I just can’t shake off dressing up for Halloween (lol)! Truth be told I wanted to wear one of my bunned up hairstyles for this picture but then tested out the Little Witch hairstyle from Ayashi at SaNaRae and the rest is history. There was no way I could resist this long and flowing hairstyle from its cute bangs to the well-detailed bows to the jaunty looking hat and I personally think that the style went well with the dress. If vibrant acid green isn’t your style, the Little Witch hair comes with a Hud that lets you choose from red or green shades in various tones. It also lets you customize the hat and bows and also has an option to hide the hat. The SaNaRae group is free to join so head on down to the latest round to pick up your gifts. If you’re still not convinced check out these posts {HERE} and {HERE} which showcase other gifts available for you.

An Ecko.

Last week you might have read one of Kat’s adventures with Ripley centering around the Ecko’s FabFree group gift, if you haven’t it’s {HERE}, and it got me really interested to see the store for myself. My visit reaped a couple of interesting discoveries and one of which is that Ecko is offering the Salor skin as a free subscriber group gift. I always love trying on new skins and this one with its unique tones did not disappoint. The Salor skin package comes in two classic skins with cleavage/no cleavage options as well as a hud for Belleza and an applier for Loud Mouth. There are other subscriber gifts available at the store so sign up and pack your wardrobe with goodies. While you’re there don’t forget to grab your Fabulously Free in SL group gift as well.

Giveaways!

I’ve been testing out different eyes lately and was pleasantly surprised to discover that Dulce Secrets has a giveaway for them. Shown in the picture are the Transcendental Sliver Pink eyes which you can get for free at the main store. The shine and reflection in these eyes are remarkable as is its subtle pink coloring. In the prize package, you will receive classic system eyes as well as mesh ones and an alpha layer. There is no group required to hit the giveaway boards so these beautiful pair of eyes are yours completely free!

And that wraps it up! Have fun in your explorations of Second Life and have a great day!

Shhh! I’m hunting turkeys

Shhh! I'm hunting turkeys

Hello, dear readers and welcome to another Saturday Feature!

As mentioned by Loki {HERE} there are a number of fun hunts running this month so be ready to spend your cool autumn days scampering across the grid in search for those odds and ends. Being an avid hunter myself, I geared right up and decided that, for starters, I was going to set my sights on one Jerky Turkey. Rumor has it that it’s been shedding feathers and leaving presents in several top quality stores.

While on the trail I stopped by Sevyn East to see if I could get my hands on that Turkey but alas, there was no sign of him. Lucky for me though it left a single orange feather as a clue and even luckier still there was a great present attached. Opening it up I discovered the Fall Dress comes in five standard mesh sizes (XS-XL) for classic avatars and sizes for Belleza, Maitreya and Slink bodies as well. There is an alpha layer included in the package that I found really helpful with the fitting. I simply adore the preppy style of this dress and the little bow on its waistline not only speaks to my girlish side but is also an appreciated well-made detail. Speaking of well-made, the Fall Dress boasts great textures with its tartan collar and skirt and the brown woolen knit of the top is perfect for the fall chill. The outfit comes with a cute Turkey shaped bag too with a pose or no pose option so you don’t have to worry about accessorizing. All you need to do to own the Fall Dress is to hunt out the orange feather located in the Sevyn East main store and buy it for 1L. The Jerky Turkey Hunt is ending at the end of the month so good luck to all those feather collectors out there!

How about some fancy and free footwear?

It’s probably really obvious by now that I love all types of boots and am an enthusiastic shoe collector. The words ‘shoe sale’ inspire so much joy and excitement that I was actually squealing when I discovered that Moda is not only having a big blowout of its Slink only shoes but was offering five free pairs as well. The Abierta Zippered boots that I’m wearing in the picture is one of those free pairs and comes with an extensive hud which enables you to customize the colors on almost every part of the shoe. It’s a shoe addicts dream and unfortunately, like all dreams, it will have to end. The sale is only running for two weeks and at the time of writing this a week or so has passed so hurry, hurry, hurry down.
Shh! I'm hunting turkeys

More goodies!

The size of my shoe collection is rivaled only by the number of skins that I own (only in SL does that sentence not sound very very creepy lol). All you skin fanatics out there should ready yourselves to teleport because 7 Deadly s{K}ins is offering the Dawn skin as an appreciation gift. It’s exactly as its exactly as its name suggests and is fresh-faced look with the subtle makeup that is a hallmark of the 7 Deadly s{K}ins design.  In the package, you will receive the Dawn classic skin in two tones (Marshmellow and Taupe) with cleavage/no cleavage options. There are also Slink hands and feet appliers and TMP Installers available for both tones. If you’re heading down be sure to grab a guy friend as that appreciation gift contains a skin for men as well! Not only is this appreciation gift available for free but you don’t have to be a member of the 7 Deadly s{K}ins group to be able to snap it up. Personally, I do recommend joining the group as a 400L gift card is being given away as a group gift this month, plus members enjoy a good number of perks. If you’re interested the 7 Deadly s{K}ins group costs 150L to join.

To keep that fall feel alive I opted to wear the Pumpkinette hair from Adoness. I don’t own many short hair styles but I fell in love with this wavy one right away. Plus, I’m always such a fan of hair adornments and you don’t get any more unique than seasonal fall fruits. The Pumpkinette hair is available as a group gift for members of the Adoness group but if you’re not currently enrolled never fear as you’ll be able to pick up this hairstyle for 1L. Adoness has a group join up fee of 25 L

As long as we’re on the subject of pumpkins, I’m wearing the aptly named Pumpkin eyes from Demicorn that are available as a free group gift from SaNaRae’s latest round. In the package, you will receive classic eyes as well as mesh ones with an alpha layer to go with. If you want to make that creepy look low key with Halloween being over and all then these eyes are the way to go. For more ‘everyday goth’ ideas check out Pru’s post {HERE} in which she coins the term and shows off more group gifts from SaNaRae.

And that wraps it up! Have a happy and safe weekend everyone! Till next time.

Infected Zombie Hunter

Infected Zombie HunterI found my Halloween costume, and just in time too! It seems like zombies and zombie hunters are everywhere this year, and for good reason. Like the vampires of years past, zombies have taken over television and movies in a big way. That said, when I saw this wicked bloody tank top from COCO, my mind instantly went to zombie land. Thankfully, Second Life is awash with creativity, and I was able to find most of what I needed to put this look together without letting go of too many lindens.

I mentioned the tank top as the centerpiece that inspired this “Infected Zombie Hunter” look. It’s one of several FREE group gifts available at COCO. Before I go into detail about the top, when going to the COCO store to add this to your wardrobe, be mindful of which section you’re shopping in. The COCO store is huge, and there are sections dedicated to their doll avatars as well as regular avatars. You’ll find a version of this top in both sections, so don’t get fooled like I did. Make sure you’re in the section with ladies clothing and not doll clothes. LOL That little bit of information out of the way, once you’re in the right place you’ll find a full wall of group gifts with a group joiner near by. The COCO group is FREE to join. Once you’re wearing your COCO group tag, all the gifts are FREE as well, just click the vendors. This bloody tank top gift is fully mesh, and comes in several body fit sizes, and standard mesh sizes.Infected Zombie Hunter CloseAnyone who knows me knows it would be completely out of character for me to go all gore and no glam, even on Halloween. I needed to be a little bloody but still wanted to keep it pretty, Izzie’s had just the thing. These bloody eyes and lips are from an applier package I found by Izzie’s for FREE on the Marketplace. The listing says it’s a limited time Halloween gift, so I’d imagine after today (Oct. 31st) the price will go up. These delicate blood drips can be applied either to the eyes, the lips, or both in 3 shades of red. This FREE set includes appliers for as well as classic system layers. I’m really thrilled with the end result, so don’t miss out on this fun bit of gore by Izzie’s while you can still get it at this fantastic freebie.

Speaking of the Marketplace, I also stumbled across this set of bloody eyes by Inkheart. These mesh eyes were just too perfect to pass up, especially since they are just 1 linden. These “vampire” eyes come in 3 mesh sizes, along with matching system layers. I think they would be spook-tacular with any ghoulish costume!

Continuing on with the idea of being glamorous at all times, this manicure from ZOZ was the perfect finishing touch. Who says a Zombie Hunter can’t have perfectly polished claws?! This particular shade of glossy red is part of the Fab Free exclusive group gift at ZOZ. Just wear your Fab Free tag and click the vendor on the circulation desk at the ZOZ main store, and you’ll be sent your FREE gift. The set has also been featured in one of Katherine’s beautiful posts, and of course in the Fab Free Group Gift Listing by Love.  The Fab Free Group Gift List shows the full set of fall colors that are included in this gorgeous nail polish gift.

Mix and Match it up

Mix and match it up

Hello, FabFree! Did you know that the group gift from Ollie’s Follies is out?

I don’t know about you but I keep a very, very close eye on the Fabulously Free in SL group gift listing found {HERE}. It is updated on the regular and I don’t want to miss out on even one of the awesome and free gifts put out by our Fab Designers. You can be sure that there was much excitement when I saw the latest addition to the list from Ollie’s Follies as not only did both gifts cater to classic and mesh avatars, they could be used as separates as well.  Pretty sure I left dust bunnies in my wake as I rushed over to get my hands on these new wardrobe staples.

Before we begin, though…

Alright, before I jump in there’s one very important thing that you should do (if you haven’t already) and that is to join the Fabulously Free in SL group. All you have to do is cut and paste the following link into the local chat inworld and click the link;  secondlife:///app/group/020fa7af-444d-f54f-01e2-557ec06315fd/about  The group is free to join and there are no more steps after that. Are you all set? Let’s go!

So that picture on the right.

Since I got too excited and did up two looks for this gift, I’ll be talking about the picture on the left first before moving on to the right.  What you’ll see on the left is the Harlowe Cardi Combo, a snug and beautifully textured long cardigan that comes with the grey tube top. In RL I really do love pieces of clothing with inserts like these as they save time on styling and that fact as not changed in SL. The combination of reds, greys and subtle greens flow well together and bring to mind the coming festive months not to mention the chevron patterns all over the cardigan are deliciously eye-catching.

As I’ve mentioned above, the Harlowe Cardi Combo caters to both classic and mesh avatars. If like me you chose to go with the classic and mesh package you’ll receive the outfit in five fit mesh sizes (XS-XL) as well as sizes for Belleza, Maitreya, Slink Physique and Slink Hourglass. In the package, you’ll also receive an alpha layer for easier fitting. On the flip side, should you chose the package only for classic avatars you will receive the outfit in five standard sizes (XS-XL) and an alpha layer for the fitting.

I’ve paired up the Harlowe Cardi Combo with the Urban Denim Skirt from [QE] Designs that you can get for just 25L by hunting cute little ghosties at the Spookzilla event. The skirt comes in five standard sizes (XXS-L) and sizes for the Maitreya, Slink Physique, and Slink Hourglass bodies. You’ll get a spiffy alpha layer in the package as well. As a fan of denim, this skirt was a must have for me and the artful blood splatters simply sealed the deal.

The footwear pictured on the right is the free gift from Black Arts that is currently out for free at the Trick of Treat Lane event. The Halloween edition of the Gothic Lolita shoes is simply to die for and I just adore the details on of the skull and buckles. Mesh feet are not a requirement as the shoes come with a shoe base and an alpha layer. The Trick or Treat Lane event ends on the first of November.

Remember the Hocus Pocus event that I talked about in my post {HERE}? Well, I hit more of the participating stores and got lucky! The Mariska hairstyle that is pictured on the right is from KoKoLoReS and could be available for free to you with a little luck and magic on your side. This sweeping updo comes with a hud with six different color combinations and a tintable hairbase. If the magic is a little lacking on your try you can simply purchase the hairstyle for 50L.

Now to the left!

The high waisted trend is something that I follow pretty closely so I was pleased when I saw the other part of the free group gift from Ollie’s Follies. As with the Harlowe Cardi Combo, these Huez leggings cater to both classic and mesh bodies as well. I opted to get just the classic package which contains five standard mesh sizes (XS-XL) and an alpha layer, which is the one pictured. On the other hand, the package for both classic and mesh avatars include five fit mesh sizes (XS-XL) and sizes for the Belleza, Maitreya, and Slink mesh bodies. You’ll also receive an alpha layer for the fitting. I am just in love with the unique silver color of the Huez leggings and will definitely be wearing more of it as end of the year festivities draw closer.

Paired up with the Huez leggings is the Skelly swimsuit in Ultraviolet from Alaskametro that you can get for 25 L at the Spookzilla hunt. The Skelly swimsuit comes in classic clothing layers as well as appliers for TMP, Slink and mesh bodies that use the Omega system. Hunt around the Spookzilla sim for five other prizes from Alaskametro and you may be able to find the Skelly swimsuit in two other colors as well as makeup and nail polish. I’ve heard about Alaskametro through posts from Astrid so now’s my chance to try products from this merchant out!

Footwear in the picture on the left is also available in at the Spookzilla hunt. If you catch the ghostie carrying the Hunter boots, you’ll be able to get these amazing pair for 25L. The Hunter boots are a fit for classic avatars or those with mesh feet as the package includes one pair in unrigged mesh, pairs in five standard mesh sizes (XXS-L) and fits for TMP, Maitreya, Slink Physique and Slink Hourglass. And to top it off there’s a hud included so that you can fiddle around with the look of your new boots.

The hair I’m wearing in this picture is from Love and is also for the Hocus Pocus event. The luck and the right amount of magic you’ll be able to win this beautifully messy hairstyle that comes in a fatpack of colors. Just creep up near the bottle containing the prize and say hocus pocus in main chat to be eligible for the game. Don’t forget the game is case sensitive and you should use small letters. You’ll be able to play once per 24 hours though if you don’t want to wait you can purchase the hair for 50L. The Hocus Pocus event runs until the 4th of November.

The final stretch!

Not only can you find clothing and footwear at Spookzilla, there are skins to be had as well. The hunt and event are hosted by Toxxic Rhiannyr of Alterego and Enertia so the beautiful skins that you can find in several of the ghosties are from Alterego. Being a skin junkie I love trying out new skins and was very very happy with these beautiful top quality finds. The texture of these skins are super smooth and I just love the dark makeup on them. There’s also something a little different about the ghosties carrying gifts from Alterego and Enertia. If you’re a group member they will yield their gifts for free. Just be sure to wear your group tag while hunting and at the time of me writing this, group is free to join. If you’re not in the group each ghostie will cost 25L

Featured on the right is the Rayne skin in the Pearle tone. The package includes three classic skin with makeup and eyebrow/eyebrowless options. You will also receive Loudmouth and Omega head appliers as well as two shapes. In the picture on the right, I’m also sporting two more hunt prizes from Spookzilla. The pastel goth horns in cream are brought to you by D-Style and the mouth chain by !nfinity. I just love it when I find accessories to compliment an outfit don’t you?

On the left is the is the Runa skin in Petale tone. The package includes three class skin with make and eyebrow/eyebrowless options. As with the Rayne skin package, you will receive Loudmouth and Omega head appliers as well as two shapes. I’m sporting the Skull septum piercing from !nfinity (there are two other septum piercings available in the package as well) and in both pictures I’m wearing the Redrum eyes from !nfinity which includes system eyes, mesh eyes with alpha layer and huds for Catwa heads and mesh heads using the Omega system.

The Spookzilla event is running until the 31st and while I know it’s a bit of a squeeze, as you can see from all the prizes to be had it’s well worth it! Happy Hunting ghosties and happy shopping!

Addendum: In my post Step inside and come closer  I failed to mention that the Thea Outfit comes in one fit mesh size for both the skirt and sweate (so all you avatars with mesh bodies can try it out!) I’d like to extend my apologies to Delriada Delwood for the oversight and to thank her for pointing this out to me and for her generous gift to FabFree.

You can’t take the sky from me

You can't take the sky from me

Hello, hello,

Dear readers and welcome to the final edition of Edi’s Costume Ideas! With Halloween steadily creeping up on us, I was looking for something especially spooky to share with you today and I found it in No Cabide’s latest group gift. Aptly named Demon Girl, the outfit consists of a chic tube dress with a playfully plunging neckline. Little black dresses are a classic wardrobe staple and I’m happy to report this particular one caters to both classic and mesh bodies. For those of us with classic bodies, the Demon Girl dress comes in two sizes (Small and Large) with a spiffy alpha layer to help with the fitting. For those with mesh bodies, there are sizes for Maitreya, eBody, Slink Physique and Slink Hourglass.

Those little extras!

I’ve encountered so many generous creators in my Second Life shopping adventures and Athena Amulet of No Cabide is certainly one of them. Together with the dress, you will receive the wings, horns, tail and necklace pictured, all of which are mesh and exquisitely made. Footwear is not a forgotten detail and these lovely studded boots come in three standard sizes (S-L) with an alpha layer and boots base.

Did you get all that? Well, here comes the best part! The No Cabide group is free to join so you’ll be able to grab this outfit and take flight with no cost at all. How’s that for the icing on the cake?

Speaking of the sweet stuff…

Have you been to the Candy Fair yet? The event is running until the 31st of this month and is filled with sugary goodness. The majority of merchants have free gifts out so be sure to snap those up while you’re having a look see. One such example is the Willa hair from Wasabi Pills that I’m wearing in the picture. This cute two-toned hairstyle comes with an alpha layer and two sizes so that the flowing pigtails don’t cut into your front.

You can't take the sky from me headshot

Hunts!

There are so many hunts going on this season and I’m just going to ahead and highlight two of them. The first is the Mega Halloween Hunt by WoW Skins and Like Designs. The objective is to root out 20 pumpkins (10 at WoW Skins and 10 at Like Designs) containing some great prizes for just 1L! Pictured is the Maram Skin, which is one such prize. In the package, you’ll get the beautifully glossy classic skin with cleavage/no cleavage options, a brow base and also system layer eyes! Oh and don’t forget there’s a 50% off sale happening at WoW skins until the 2nd of November.

The eyes have it

I’m not wearing the eyes included in the Maram package at the moment but only to show you another hunt gift that I picked up from Mesange for the Boo! Bunny Hunt that is running until the 31st of this month. I’ve always believed that working on the little details of your avatar is important and when I saw these eyes I could not get to the store fast enough! The blue-grey of the Storm eyes are absolutely hypnotic and in the gift, you’ll receive system eyes as well as mesh ones with an alpha layer. You’ll also receive Huds for the Genesis Mesh Head and a Hud for mesh heads using the Omega system. All of this for just 1L!

And that concludes my very first Halloween here at FabFree. I hope you’ve enjoyed my costume ideas and I wish you all the best in finding yours! If you’d like for me to do more themed segments, hit up the comments section to let me know!

Step inside and come closer

Step inside and come closer

“Will you walk into my parlour?” said the Spider to the Fly,
‘Tis the prettiest little parlour that ever you did spy;
The way into my parlour is up a winding stair,
And I’ve a many curious things to show when you are there.”

Have a seat.

The cushions are comfortable, there’s sushi on the table if you’re so inclined and please, don’t mind the knife…  -ahem- Seeing as it is the haunting season, I couldn’t help but try to be just a little bit creepy. In all seriousness, though, I do have some treats for you today dear readers and if you’re ready to let’s go! First up is the brand new Fabulously Free in SL group gift by M0oH! Now, this store has long been on my bucket list of places to visit thanks to all the wonderful posts by Love, one such example {HERE}, and a free group gift proved to be a strong lure. As soon as I saw the notice I hurried down to the main store to get my grab on and I was not disappointed.

So what are the details?

The gift, dubbed the Thea Outfit, comes in five standard sizes (XXS-L) for both the cropped sweater and the skirt. You’ll also receive not one but three alpha layers to help you with the fitting, one for the top and skirt combined and the other two for each piece of clothing respectively. What I find really great about this outfit, aside from the fact that it’s very well made and that the way it’s textured is to die for, is that you’re given the option to keep the outfit intact or to wear it as separates. Just thinking of experimenting with different combinations gives me joy and more so when you take into consideration the fact that this outfit is completely free. All you have to do is activate your Fabulously Free in SL group tag! Not in the group yet? Well, copy and paste the following link into the local chat inworld;  secondlife:///app/group/020fa7af-444d-f54f-01e2-557ec06315fd/about then click on the link and there you go!

If you want to know more about MO0H! and the great store credit program that they have going on at the store, visit some of Love’s blog posts for more information:

More treats!

Hmm…lets go from the top down, shall we? The bat headband that I’m wearing in the picture is the newest group gift by C’est La Vie. Not only is it adorable and a great fit for the festive season, it comes with a pose and resize scripts as well, making it easy to edit. What’s more, permission is set to copy so you can make backups before you embark on any editing.  The C’est La Vie group is free to join and you can pick up other group gifts while you’re there scooping up this one as well.

Do you love advent calendars? I’m certainly looking forward to Christmas time but Alice Project is giving you a little taste early. As part of their Halloween Massacre Special, you’ll be able to get one free hairstyle in fifteen special colors from the 25th to the 31st of this month. These gleefully macabre blood streaked hairstyles change out daily but don’t worry if you’ve missed one as you’ll be able to buy hair packs consisting of 5 tones for 50L if you want to complete your collection.

And ah yes, footwear. I’ve always had a weakness for quirkiness and boots and this pair from Wicked satisfies both those fancies. The Quinn heels (made for Slink high feet only) feature a wonderfully detailed lace up front and skull patterns so that you’ll stay in step with the season. Go to the Wicked store and hunt out a skeletal hand  for just 1L or just buy the pair for 25L from the shopper’s option that has been set out. The shopper’s option prim is also a skeletal hand that’s placed near the hunt poster. The Jeepers Creepers hunt runs until the 31st of October.

Step in and come closer

Oh, but I’m not done yet!

Head on down to Trick or Treat Lane to peruse the variety of seasonal goodies from a number of merchants. While you’re there, don’t forget to snap up the free gift that the majority of these awesome designers have set out and you’ll find yourself with a bag full of accessories, furniture, and even skin! The one I’m wearing in the pictures above is called Berry, a gift from 7 Deadly s{K}ins that comes in the skin tone Dust. In the package, you’ll receive the system skin with cleavage/no cleavage options as well as Slink hand and feet appliers and Omega body appliers also with cleavage/no cleavage options. Between this and the Klaasje fantasy skin blogged {Here} also from 7 Deadly s{K}ins I might just go drow permanently. The Trick or Treat Lane event though lasts until the 1st of November.

Windows to the soul…

To complete the look are the Hazelnut eyes from Out of Orbit. I tend to go for blue or grey eyes so this was a nice and free change up. These eyes are part of the EnMashed in Fall hunt and aside from the system eyes, you’ll also receive mesh ones with an alpha layer and Huds for Genesis Heads and Heads that use the Omega system. Find the bat that’s hiding in the store and buy for 0L. The EnMashed in Fall hunt is running until the 15th of November.

Ready? Pose!

New types of hunts and games are always something that I look out for and the Hocus Pocus event that is running until the 4th of November was something that caught my attention. You’ll need to go to a participating merchant for the Hud, Elephante Poses is one such merchant, and once you get the teleport list visit the stores to find a magic bottle. Once found say hocus pocus in local chat (game is case sensitive so remember all small letters) and depending on your luck and some magic you may get the item for free. If you’re not so lucky (you’ll get one chance per 24 hours) but still fancy the prize, you can buy it for 50L. That’s what happened to me for this Psycho pose set from Elephante but since I do love the poses from this store and was so tickled by the little prop knife that’s included with the set I got it anyway.

And that wraps it up. So many events going on this season and more besides…what are you still doing here? -Brandishes knife- Off you go.

“Oh no, no,” said the little Fly, “to ask me is in vain,
For who goes up your winding stair
     -can ne’er come down again.”
