Happy Wednesday, everyone! Here we are in March with a whole new set of hunts and group gifts to pick up! When you do what I do, the beginning of a new month is always the most exciting period. Don’t forget what they say: March comes in like a rabbit, scurrying around picking up free gifts, and goes out like a rabbit, too! A much heavier one, weighed down with a glut of new inventory items, but still a rabbit!
Ashbury Designs is a very nice place to get male clothes. They are on my list of must visits at the beginning of a new month, and for good reason. Ashbury Designs‘ free group gifts have a way of making a home for themselves in my inventory and certainly their current one is a fine example. The Ace Military Shirt is a one piece mesh combo. Comprised of an open blue denim shirt with a very subtle camouflage pattern and a black T-Shirt, it is a simple look which looks very real-world plausible. Comfortable looking, it comes in 3 Mesh sizes, 2 Fitmesh and one Fitmesh for TMP bodies. The shade of blue of the shirt is beautiful and the detail and texture is extremely attractive! This is one free group gift you definitely should not pass up.
Lavarock has a new store and I am truly happy to welcome them back! For those of you who read my autobiography, you will recall I became a blogger partially because of a great free group gift Lavarock produced. I simply did not have enough friends on SL to tell about it, so I began blogging! I was thrilled when my editor, Andi, told me there was a new group gift in their store and I assure you it is excellent! The Urban Male Sneakers are a pair of Hi-top shoes for regular avy feet, so everyone can wear them if they like. In fact, since there is a woman’s version out in the women’s area at Lavarock as well, nearly everyone can wear them! They are Mesh and extremely cool. The most spectacular thing about them is the texture change hud! These sneakers come with a MONSTER HUD which gives you access to 15 sneaker textures, 5 laces, 5 tongues, 5 straps, 6 sock variations including hide and 2 sole colors. EPIC work on the hud, Lavarock. Thank you very much! For a free group gift, a hud like this is rare and these shoes are going to be keepers. Go get ‘em, people!

In real life, I have dark brown eyes and brown hair. So, I have always wanted to be a blond on Second Life. Despite my desire to bleach my pixels and commence going out and having more fun, I have always found it problematic. As a freebie and cheapie hunter, it is terribly difficult to find male skins that look good with a blond mane. In the spirit of my recent post highlighting some of the great FREE skins available right now on the grid, today I offer a short bonus post to accompany it.
This beautiful skin is the current group gift at Akeruka. It is FREE but in order to get it, the group is required and costs 150L. When looking for low cost skins, the vast majority you unearth have dark eyebrows and some form of dark facial hair. If you look closely, the eyebrows of this skin are blond to light brown. In fact, they are excellent to go with lighter hair than I would usually wear. Even better, there is no other facial hair to conflict with the blond. Overall, this is an extremely handsome skin. Even better, it does not look chalky, which occasionally happens on skins of light complexions. This is great product and a rare find on the grid, I hope you enjoy it as much as I will.
The hair I am wearing is the Jack hair in blond from Truth. Integrated with an excellent hat, this hair is a bargain at only 50L for a color pack. Both the hat and the hair are color changeable via hud, and it looks great!
With Free Skin Day having brought some extra attention to skins in general, I want to take a second to tell you about ElvenElder Resident’s marketplace store. He is a template creator I encountered while researching an issue on a previous post, and his marketplace store has multiple items for the freebie/cheapie hunter. I wanted to show off two tattoos he has made available: The Elven Cross Tattoo (available for FREE) and the Elven G.G.N. Tattoo (a 1L promo item). Both tats are heavily detailed, and I encourage you to click twice on the picture above so you can take a closer look at his work. For a total price of a single linden these have “amazing bargain” written all over them.

Any discussion of quality FREE male skins on SL has to include the fantastic Midnight Mania board at Tellaq. In picture C, I am wearing the current midnight mania board skin Monti with the hairier option and the optional 20% darker skin tone changer. Their skins have a tendency towards the extremely muscular and athletic, and they absolutely excel at darker tones especially. Oh, my reckless SL youth! Those crazy days when I once wore a costume very much like this and danced on a pole at a club. It was a very odd time, but even back then I was very “Me”. In particular, I recall some rather dubious emoting capped with my all time favorite self observation. Shouting “Hey look, I’m a salad!” to the audience, my sexiness knew no bounds in those early days…
I am still having great fun unpacking prizes from The Spooky Nights Hunt, Presented By Firestorm. Animations Rising has put out an amazing FREE gift for the hunt, one too big for me to adequately describe. In fact, it took days for me to unpack it! It includes 55 male outfits from both the Rising Tribal and Rising Silks series and another 24 female ensembles. They seem to be pre-Mesh but they are bursting with extras and special effects particle sets, which could be especially useful when putting together your own costume and role-play outfits. The Rising Tribal – Gaius II – outfit is a tribute to the Greek Mother Goddess. The vines and leaves that wrap around the body are objects to wear rather than simply clothing layers. This means there is depth to them as opposed to looking inked or painted on. The dark green modesty pouch is very sexy but it does not conceal a great deal of you so carrying a large green houseplant or two might be useful to help keep covered up on sims that frown on something this revealing. This is outrageous clothing, so do me proud and if you wear it, try extra hard to make it memorable for everyone around you. My bet is that will be a task easily accomplished!
The Youth is another FREE gift included in Animations Rising‘s Spooky Nights Hunt Prize. It is the epitome of simplicity, consisting of an excellent loincloth, a wrist band and a leg band. Inspired by and featuring indigenous influences, there are an additional 7 outfits from the Rising Tribal series included in this enormous prize. For the pic above, I appropriated the spear from the warrior costume. First of all, I needed a weapon to give me that menacing look. Secondly, I wanted to point to the big white feathers adorning it and shout “Biggest…chicken…ever!”
The picture above also features the face paint from Fallen Gods Inc. It is another excellent FREE hunt item from The Spooky Nights Hunt and comes in four color schemes: Toxic, Magic, Flames and Doom. I chose to wear Doom with The Youth because it is dark and ashy, giving me a more primal and menacing look. This is an excellent pick up because it is a perfect finishing touch for a costume. Whether you intend to go out clubbing or prefer to role play, it will probably be a useful addition to your wardrobe.
This final pic is of a silk outfit called Rising Silks – Solar , yet another prize from the Animations Rising massive FREE Spooky Nights Hunt Gift. Quite a few sexy male silks are included and some of them, such as “Solar”, include amazing particle light shows which are customizable and can be turned off if you prefer. You have to love a creator who says “In short, Rising Silks are designed to be SEXY, and that means, to ride very low on the hips, and cover as little as possible, while still being elegant and masculine.” This is some seriously creative stuff, and in this gift you will find an incredible variety of useful items.

Hello my friends! I have been working my pixels off searching for awesome and unique Halloween-related items for men this year. I am starting off my October posts by showing you my favorite costume of the year so far: The Satyr from Siren’s Moon. The Satyrs were lustful, drunken woodland Gods. In short, my kind of deities! I considered researching Satyrs to fill this post with fascinating background information about them… but, why do that if I can make stuff up!?! For instance, did you know the Satyrs were not driven extinct because of acute liver problems related to alcoholism? You would think that, but after significant consideration, I came to the conclusion it was most likely due to stumbling drunkenly in the woods and choking to death on their pan flutes. At least I am pretty sure that’s how I would have gone had I been a Satyr.
Anyway, Siren’s Moon has made this excellent costume, a tribute to Greek mythology and the Satyrs, companions of Dionysus the Greek God of fertility and wine. The costume consists of a lower body alpha, a pants texture and beautifully done goat-influenced Satyr legs and tail. A laurel wreath and a set of horns provide the head with an authentic look. Together with a pan flute, this is quite an impressive hunt gift. So, if you are looking for a Halloween costume and want to stand out, this is a great pick up! For only 1L, it truly is a bargain. Hello, everyone! This week, I am sharing something a bit special with you; and it has to do with the very spot where I am standing. But first, let’s talk about something FREE and fantastic! Every month, I swing by the American Bazaar store to pick up their FREE group gift. This month they have offered the James Jacket in Electric Blue along with the James Shirt in Black. Each piece comes in five sizes for versatility, but they are meant to be worn together so there is a single alpha accommodating both the jacket and shirt. The color is dark and dramatic, just like me! When I dress for my own pleasure, this is absolutely the kind of item I am drawn to: dressy, yet still very casual and comfortable looking. American Bazaar did a great job with this garment. Plus, the group is FREE to join, so make sure you run out and pick this up.
All of us have very different reasons to be on SL, and what we choose to do here can be vastly different from avy to avy. I am an avid freebie hunter, blogger, and general goof off, but Second Life offers us many different activities to do and enjoy. One that I personally like to do is go to concerts and listen to live performers like my friends Phideaux Mayo and Maximillion Kleene. I truly admire the talent and courage it takes to get up in front of people and perform. When you are looking for an interesting activity, I encourage you to search in “events” and sample some of the live entertainment SL has to offer, which brings me to where I am now standing. This is the ENT SL RADIO TRANSPORT HUB and is an excellent place to pop by when you are looking for entertainment. ENT SL Radio is kind of like RL public broadcasting: it offers eighty hours of FREE programming a week! You can even listen to it outside of Second Life by visiting their web site. At the hub, you will find many kiosks, each if which represents a club that is partnering with ENT to help broadcast and promote live music to the SL community. Walk around and check out the schedules. You can even teleport directly to your club of choice from the bus stop. It is a fun and FREE way to explore music and clubs that you might not have experienced yet. I highly recommend you add it to your list of places to check out.
Now that you have a great place to go, to choose whichever live performer you may fancy, how about something else you could wear? It is my pleasure to let you know about another item from Madcat Creations that is definitely worthy of your attention. Madcat Creations got my attention in late April by making an amazing hippie outfit that I blogged here. Now they are offering a 1L hunt prize from the Romance Under The Stars Hunt, the Leather N Lace in Red Dress Shirt and Jacket combo looks great with its vibrant color, in addition to giving me my recommended daily dose of black clothing. Together with the white tee part of this garment, the three components in the mesh look extremely well layered giving the appearance of being separate items. This is a fantastic piece of mesh! It comes in three sizes, each of them being similar to fitmesh in that they will conform to your avy. I got an excellent fit without any fuss at all. The red is quite eye catching. After all, do you really want to spend your time blending into the background? Reach for some color now and then and spice up your Second Life, and this garment is an excellent start.

Electric Blue Jacket – American Bazaar James Jacket in Electric Blue & the James Shirt in Black (FREE Group Gift/FREE Group)
Happy Wednesday everyone! This June has been fantastic for male freebie and cheapie-hunters! This week, I bring you more items from the Menstuff Hunt, a one hundred store hunt that runs until the end of June. Hunt prizes are at most 1L, but the majority of them are offered for FREE! There is no reason not to roll your sleeves up and get hunting, the prizes are too good to pass up!
Gabriel, a store with a reputation for generous FREE group gifts, created this beautiful floral print shirt for the Menstuff Hunt. The Mesh Gradation Flower shirt comes in two colors: blue and black. The floral pattern appears in the bottom quarter of the shirt and sleeves for a subtle, summery look without making the shirt look feminine. The lighter color in the upper part of the shirt draws the eye to the chest area where the shirt is unbuttoned and open. This shirt will give you a cool, stylish, laid back look in whichever color you choose to wear. Gabriel’s FREE Menstuff Hunt gift is a great choice to wear around the grid this summer.
To complement the shirt, I chose the Men’s Mesh Kanto Chino Jeans from Hawker’s House. Sporting extremely well-done shading and texturing, these gray jeans look realistic and provide a very manly look, if you know what I mean. There is no reason we should go around looking like Ken dolls, so it’s always nice to see a little shading to give us guys a little added dimension. Hawker’s House’s hunt prize for the Menstuff Hunt is one of the most generous gifts in the entire hunt. For 1L, you get these swell mesh jeans, the blue denim boots I am wearing and a red nyc T-Shirt (not pictured). The Men’s Mesh Doc Martin Style Boots in Denim are very nicely textured and likely to stand out more than simple black or brown leather Doc Martin style boots. There is something you should be aware of when you get this excellent hunt gift. I have noticed from personal experience that automatic unpacking scripts occasionally don’t transfer the alpha to inventory along with the other items (if the alpha is no copy). In order to unpack this gift, I strongly recommend rezzing the box on the ground and manually unpacking it instead of clicking the box as instructed. This way, you will have everything you need to enjoy these fantastic boots. Quality, inexpensive footwear for men is not an easy find on Second Life, and for only 1L these boots from Hawker’s House are of high enough quality to deserve a very close look! Plus, you get the Kanto Chino Jeans as well!
My necklace is part of the Menstuff Hunt prize from Timeless Designs. The Rebel Black Agate Rope Necklace and Bracelet are both included in the Menstuff Hunt gift. I really liked the simple, masculine look of these pieces. If you look closely, you can see the braiding of the rope and the designs on the gray beads. Great care and time was obviously invested in creating these products. This hunt gift will only set you back 1L, and Timeless Designs made sure it was money well spent. I know I will enjoy it and hope that some of you will as well.
When I first saw this T-Shirt, I knew I had to blog it. The Fetthunterblack T-Shirt from Fliped Out Designs is a great item for the Sci-fi geek nestled inside all of us. Inspired by the universe’s favorite bounty hunter, the T-Shirt is designed with a large playing card like image with the word “Hunter” in the middle of it. At least I hope it is playing card like. If it was a tarot card I would be packing my bags right now instead of writing this. No reason to take any chances concerning my own fate. This unique graphic tee is the FREE Menstuff Hunt Gift from Fliped Out Designs and is available like the rest of the hunt prizes until the end of June.
These black boots were a super find over at The Grey Goose. The Black A** Kickers turned out to be just what I needed to complete this outfit. They have a detailed leather texture and silver metal fasteners, one zipper and three skull buckles. Originally, I had mixed feelings about highlighting them because they are not resizable at least by any method I am aware of. On the shapes I regularly use, the fit was imperfect. Of course, in these days of mesh, it is not unusual to have to adjust your shape to wear something. So, that was not enough reason to discard a perfectly nice pair of FREE black leather boots, especially considering you can pick them up and make your own decisions. Personally, I kept them! 😉
Some readers might have noticed I am wearing a different skin than usual. STALKERS! The Menstuff Hunt skin from Seven Deadly Skins is very nice, easily passing my very picky standards, and absolutely no surprise to me. Although it is good enough for any male avy to wear, it is an incredible pick up for any new residents or alts out there. There is no reason to look new when you can find a skin this nice for FREE! Thank you for such a nice hunt gift.
Lastly, I want to point out one item that is NOT part of the Menstuff Hunt. Rather, it is an entirely FREE gift for a limited time from Poetic Colors. The Summer Sky Eyes – Beach Nighteyes are a beautiful blue with some pink and lavender mixed in.
