Fae Maiden on a Winter’s Eve

Winter Fae 4

Happy late-Monday, Fabulouses!  I couldn’t head off to bed without sharing our latest Fabulous Find with you.  Yesterday, Ripley and I dusted off his tracking harness, and hit the trail on the Fantasy Cream V Hunt.  For only 1L each, you can seek out prizes with a Medieval/Fantasy flair. The event started on November 18th and runs through December 18th, so there is plenty of time to don your Sherlock Holmes cap, and round up some goodies for yourself.  With 34 stops on this hunt, there are plenty of gifts to be discovered.

Winter Fae Maiden

At Beyond Persuasion Designs, Ripley and I scouted out this gorgeous formal number for just one little linden dollar. The bodice of the Winter Eve’s Guardian Fae Anise gown features poinsettia flowers embroidered in gold thread, and the skirt has glimmering white panels alternating with foresty green.  Long, fur trimmed sleeves, which are optional, keep your arms from experiencing chilly breezes.  Although I usually don’t partake in role play in Second Life, I could see this gown coming in very handy for a Medieval/Fantasy sim or for holiday parties.  It is also lovely just for roaming around and looking beautiful!

What’s Included:

  • Standard mesh in XXS, XS, M, L, XL for classic avatars
  • Alpha layer for classic avatars
  • Rose and holly hair adornment
  • Optional sleeves with separate alpha

Winter Fae 3

I’ve included this close up picture to showcase the holly and rose hair piece that is enclosed with the hunt prize.  I thought it added a festive touch to the outfit, just perfect for the upcoming holiday season.  In this shot, you can also get a good look at my nail polish, which is another 1L find.  Leap of Faith is offering this Slink manicure/pedicure set as a 1L Christmas gift in their Marketplace store.  I brushed on the gradient red to green glitter, but the package also includes 5 other polish options.

Thank you for taking the time to read my blog post.  Ripley and I are off to seek out new Fabulous Finds to share with you.  Until next time, wonderful readers, happy shopping hunting!

Court of Owls

Court of Owls

Oh, that lag…

So far my first ‘Black Friday’ experience in Second Life has been fun and quite hectic. My full body alpha has never gotten so much use before and even then there were times when I couldn’t outrun the lag monster. Only in SL can you shop while being half trapped in a wall (lol). Anyway, these offers listed today are time sensitive but if you have a moment to spare check out the Black Friday and Cyber Monday event. Most of these stalls are offering roleplay centric clothing but if you’re not an active role player like me (still on that bucket list) it’s still worth taking a peek to snap up some interesting pieces for your wardrobe. For this event, merchants have 30-35L items for Friday and half price items for Monday, though the vendors are set up through the event so don’t worry if you’re just teleporting in now to get your Friday items. What’s more, there’s a gacha market at the event as well and most of the stalls have a free gift out for visitors.

A girl and her owl

For the picture above I’m wearing the free gift from Pekas Gorean and Urban Designs. The Love and Roses gown come in four standard mesh sizes (XS, S, M, XL) with an alpha layer to stop any bits from sticking out. I really love that full skirt and the rippled folds going down its sides are a very pretty detailing. You can never go wrong with the black and white combination and I adore the chalky flower patterns on the skirt and train of this gown.

My graphics card has been a bit grumpy as of late, as you might have noticed as I haven’t been sim hopping as much as I want to. Taking pictures in a box in one’s backyard can get a little lonely so I decided to add this little guy into the mix for today to keep me company. He’s from the Queen of Peace pose set by Belle Poses and is available for at the Black Friday and Cyber Monday event for 35L. There are six elegant poses in the pack and you’ll get six different owls as well so there’s no need to fuss with the position of your feathered friend. He’s so cute that I might just rezz him for fun around the house though I hope the cats don’t try to eat him.

Another day another hair sale

Looks like I haven’t gotten my fill of hair sales after the first day of the Black Friday run. In all honesty, though, I had thought to hang my hat up and then saw that Ayashi was having a 30% off sale for its hairpacks and 50% off on gachas. Seeing that gachas are one of my biggest weaknesses I was off like a shot and picked up the Rumi hair for 50L. That the gacha machine gave me the pink set was just a bonus! The hair sale at Ayashi ends on the 28th.

Court of Owls headshot

Skin deep

I was pretty pleased to find that one of my favorite skin stores, WoW Skins was participating the Black Friday and Cyber Monday event. I picked up the Ines skin for just 30L and was pleasantly surprised to discover that it contained six skin fatpacks in five tones. There are cleavage/no cleavage options for each skin as well as appliers for Slink, Lolas and Phat Azz included in the package. What’s more, there are two freckles tattoo layers included as well, making me a very happy shopper.

All about that bling

Full disclosure, I’ve never really worn very many accessories in world. I always vow to punch up my outfits a little bit more with bracelets or earrings or necklaces and then turn around again to grab that full body alpha layer because I’m going to an event. The perils of lag and blogging amirite? Looking through the various free gifts that I picked up at the Black Friday and Cyber Monday event, however, I found a beautiful jewelry set by Footpaw industries. It includes a tiara, earrings, bracelets, two hair accessories and a necklace. I’m only wearing the necklace in the picture above and thought that it’s glittery diamonds and artistic design made the entire outfit more refined.

And that’s a wrap for today dear readers. Have fun inworld and stay safe!

Beautiful Era

Beautiful era

Such exciting times!

Looks like the FabFree Group Gift list is growing again and I hope you’ve wasted no time in reaping all of the generous offerings. For my part, I had fun hopping from store to store and now with everything unpacked and organized (whew!) I’ve come to share one of these gifts with you plus some other free and under 75L finds. If you aren’t a part of the FabFree group yet, get in on the fun by pasting the following link into the local chat of your SL viewer secondlife:///app/group/020fa7af-444d-f54f-01e2-557ec06315fd/about and then clicking on the link. Are you all set? Great! Cause I’m ready to share!

A spoonful of sugar makes the medicine go down…

Hunting out great deals for all you lovely readers out there is not something that I would consider a chore but one look at the Tiffany dress from Belle Epoque immediately brought to mind this song from the Mary Poppins movie. Not only is the lovely lavender coloring reminiscent of candy floss, its hooped skirt and delicate lace detailing add a very feminine touch. The buttons on this dress are well-crafted, eye-catching details and I appreciate that they go right up to the dress’ high collar.  I haven’t had the chance to strike role playing off my bucket list but I imagine that this dress would be a good fit on a Steampunk or Victorian sim. The Tiffany dress comes in five standard mesh sizes (XXS-L) with an alpha layer included in the folder to help with the fitting. All you need to do to have this beautiful new addition to your wardrobe is to head on over to Belle Epoque, activate your Fabulously Free in SL group tag and click away. The dress is yours for free. While you’re there at Belle Epoque as they have other beautiful dresses with a vintage feel in their collection.

Step out in style!

I’ve paired off the Tiffany dress with boots (what else?) from Baby Monkey one of my favorite shoe stores. Sometimes it’s hard to find boots with both a relaxed and formal feel to them but I think that the Pixie boots manage to balance out these two facets really well with the studded detailing and low heel. What’s better is that the Pixie boots are made for both mesh and classic system feet. In the package, you will receive a pair for classic feet as well as pairs for Belleza, Maitreya, and Slink flat feet. An alpha layer and boot fitter are also included in the pack as well as an easy to use Hud which will help you modify the look and feet of your boots to your liking. The Pixie boots are just one of the group gifts available at Baby Monkey and there is a one-time fee of 20L to join.

Not so wicked witch…

It seems that I just can’t shake off dressing up for Halloween (lol)! Truth be told I wanted to wear one of my bunned up hairstyles for this picture but then tested out the Little Witch hairstyle from Ayashi at SaNaRae and the rest is history. There was no way I could resist this long and flowing hairstyle from its cute bangs to the well-detailed bows to the jaunty looking hat and I personally think that the style went well with the dress. If vibrant acid green isn’t your style, the Little Witch hair comes with a Hud that lets you choose from red or green shades in various tones. It also lets you customize the hat and bows and also has an option to hide the hat. The SaNaRae group is free to join so head on down to the latest round to pick up your gifts. If you’re still not convinced check out these posts {HERE} and {HERE} which showcase other gifts available for you.

An Ecko.

Last week you might have read one of Kat’s adventures with Ripley centering around the Ecko’s FabFree group gift, if you haven’t it’s {HERE}, and it got me really interested to see the store for myself. My visit reaped a couple of interesting discoveries and one of which is that Ecko is offering the Salor skin as a free subscriber group gift. I always love trying on new skins and this one with its unique tones did not disappoint. The Salor skin package comes in two classic skins with cleavage/no cleavage options as well as a hud for Belleza and an applier for Loud Mouth. There are other subscriber gifts available at the store so sign up and pack your wardrobe with goodies. While you’re there don’t forget to grab your Fabulously Free in SL group gift as well.

Giveaways!

I’ve been testing out different eyes lately and was pleasantly surprised to discover that Dulce Secrets has a giveaway for them. Shown in the picture are the Transcendental Sliver Pink eyes which you can get for free at the main store. The shine and reflection in these eyes are remarkable as is its subtle pink coloring. In the prize package, you will receive classic system eyes as well as mesh ones and an alpha layer. There is no group required to hit the giveaway boards so these beautiful pair of eyes are yours completely free!

And that wraps it up! Have fun in your explorations of Second Life and have a great day!

Maybe I’m a Joker

Wasabi Pills GiftWell Hello There Fab Free’rs! Welcome back to the Fabulously Free in SL Blog. I have to say the closer it gets to Halloween the more excited I get. No matter how old I am, Halloween will always be my favorite holiday, whether I dress up or not. Speaking of dressing up, I’ve got some fun freebies to share with you. This look is made up of a FREE subscriber gift from Wasabi Pills, and a FREE group gift from Dulce Secrets.

This purple and green hair with the stylized bangs and pointed buns by Wasabi Pills made me think of a female interpretation of The Joker. haha I know if I were going to dress up as The Joker for Halloween, I’d certainly go for hair like this. I like to keep things a little more on the glamorous side. To add this playful hairstyle to your collection, simply head over to Wasabi Pills, and join the subscriber outside the main entrance. If you’re already a Wasabi Pills subscriber member, like me, click the subscriber kiosk and get this FREE gift delivered from the message history.
Dulce Secrets GiftThe moment I saw this frilly embellished outfit from Dulce Secrets, I had to have it! The widely varied style elements make this FREE group gift really versatile. What makes it even more versatile is the fact that it’s 3 separate pieces. The jacket, the corset, and the skirt can all be worn separately as well as together. Each piece comes in standard mesh sizes. I love the darkly whimsical look of this outfit, and the little details in the zippers, and buckles.  You could easily dress it up to be anything in this outfit,  from a super villain to a steampunk pirate and everything in between. The Dulce Secrets group is FREE to join, and you’ll find this FREE gift at the back of the store near the Midnight Mania board.

You can’t take the sky from me

You can't take the sky from me

Hello, hello,

Dear readers and welcome to the final edition of Edi’s Costume Ideas! With Halloween steadily creeping up on us, I was looking for something especially spooky to share with you today and I found it in No Cabide’s latest group gift. Aptly named Demon Girl, the outfit consists of a chic tube dress with a playfully plunging neckline. Little black dresses are a classic wardrobe staple and I’m happy to report this particular one caters to both classic and mesh bodies. For those of us with classic bodies, the Demon Girl dress comes in two sizes (Small and Large) with a spiffy alpha layer to help with the fitting. For those with mesh bodies, there are sizes for Maitreya, eBody, Slink Physique and Slink Hourglass.

Those little extras!

I’ve encountered so many generous creators in my Second Life shopping adventures and Athena Amulet of No Cabide is certainly one of them. Together with the dress, you will receive the wings, horns, tail and necklace pictured, all of which are mesh and exquisitely made. Footwear is not a forgotten detail and these lovely studded boots come in three standard sizes (S-L) with an alpha layer and boots base.

Did you get all that? Well, here comes the best part! The No Cabide group is free to join so you’ll be able to grab this outfit and take flight with no cost at all. How’s that for the icing on the cake?

Speaking of the sweet stuff…

Have you been to the Candy Fair yet? The event is running until the 31st of this month and is filled with sugary goodness. The majority of merchants have free gifts out so be sure to snap those up while you’re having a look see. One such example is the Willa hair from Wasabi Pills that I’m wearing in the picture. This cute two-toned hairstyle comes with an alpha layer and two sizes so that the flowing pigtails don’t cut into your front.

You can't take the sky from me headshot

Hunts!

There are so many hunts going on this season and I’m just going to ahead and highlight two of them. The first is the Mega Halloween Hunt by WoW Skins and Like Designs. The objective is to root out 20 pumpkins (10 at WoW Skins and 10 at Like Designs) containing some great prizes for just 1L! Pictured is the Maram Skin, which is one such prize. In the package, you’ll get the beautifully glossy classic skin with cleavage/no cleavage options, a brow base and also system layer eyes! Oh and don’t forget there’s a 50% off sale happening at WoW skins until the 2nd of November.

The eyes have it

I’m not wearing the eyes included in the Maram package at the moment but only to show you another hunt gift that I picked up from Mesange for the Boo! Bunny Hunt that is running until the 31st of this month. I’ve always believed that working on the little details of your avatar is important and when I saw these eyes I could not get to the store fast enough! The blue-grey of the Storm eyes are absolutely hypnotic and in the gift, you’ll receive system eyes as well as mesh ones with an alpha layer. You’ll also receive Huds for the Genesis Mesh Head and a Hud for mesh heads using the Omega system. All of this for just 1L!

And that concludes my very first Halloween here at FabFree. I hope you’ve enjoyed my costume ideas and I wish you all the best in finding yours! If you’d like for me to do more themed segments, hit up the comments section to let me know!

Step inside and come closer

Step inside and come closer

“Will you walk into my parlour?” said the Spider to the Fly,
‘Tis the prettiest little parlour that ever you did spy;
The way into my parlour is up a winding stair,
And I’ve a many curious things to show when you are there.”

Have a seat.

The cushions are comfortable, there’s sushi on the table if you’re so inclined and please, don’t mind the knife…  -ahem- Seeing as it is the haunting season, I couldn’t help but try to be just a little bit creepy. In all seriousness, though, I do have some treats for you today dear readers and if you’re ready to let’s go! First up is the brand new Fabulously Free in SL group gift by M0oH! Now, this store has long been on my bucket list of places to visit thanks to all the wonderful posts by Love, one such example {HERE}, and a free group gift proved to be a strong lure. As soon as I saw the notice I hurried down to the main store to get my grab on and I was not disappointed.

So what are the details?

The gift, dubbed the Thea Outfit, comes in five standard sizes (XXS-L) for both the cropped sweater and the skirt. You’ll also receive not one but three alpha layers to help you with the fitting, one for the top and skirt combined and the other two for each piece of clothing respectively. What I find really great about this outfit, aside from the fact that it’s very well made and that the way it’s textured is to die for, is that you’re given the option to keep the outfit intact or to wear it as separates. Just thinking of experimenting with different combinations gives me joy and more so when you take into consideration the fact that this outfit is completely free. All you have to do is activate your Fabulously Free in SL group tag! Not in the group yet? Well, copy and paste the following link into the local chat inworld;  secondlife:///app/group/020fa7af-444d-f54f-01e2-557ec06315fd/about then click on the link and there you go!

If you want to know more about MO0H! and the great store credit program that they have going on at the store, visit some of Love’s blog posts for more information:

More treats!

Hmm…lets go from the top down, shall we? The bat headband that I’m wearing in the picture is the newest group gift by C’est La Vie. Not only is it adorable and a great fit for the festive season, it comes with a pose and resize scripts as well, making it easy to edit. What’s more, permission is set to copy so you can make backups before you embark on any editing.  The C’est La Vie group is free to join and you can pick up other group gifts while you’re there scooping up this one as well.

Do you love advent calendars? I’m certainly looking forward to Christmas time but Alice Project is giving you a little taste early. As part of their Halloween Massacre Special, you’ll be able to get one free hairstyle in fifteen special colors from the 25th to the 31st of this month. These gleefully macabre blood streaked hairstyles change out daily but don’t worry if you’ve missed one as you’ll be able to buy hair packs consisting of 5 tones for 50L if you want to complete your collection.

And ah yes, footwear. I’ve always had a weakness for quirkiness and boots and this pair from Wicked satisfies both those fancies. The Quinn heels (made for Slink high feet only) feature a wonderfully detailed lace up front and skull patterns so that you’ll stay in step with the season. Go to the Wicked store and hunt out a skeletal hand  for just 1L or just buy the pair for 25L from the shopper’s option that has been set out. The shopper’s option prim is also a skeletal hand that’s placed near the hunt poster. The Jeepers Creepers hunt runs until the 31st of October.

Step in and come closer

Oh, but I’m not done yet!

Head on down to Trick or Treat Lane to peruse the variety of seasonal goodies from a number of merchants. While you’re there, don’t forget to snap up the free gift that the majority of these awesome designers have set out and you’ll find yourself with a bag full of accessories, furniture, and even skin! The one I’m wearing in the pictures above is called Berry, a gift from 7 Deadly s{K}ins that comes in the skin tone Dust. In the package, you’ll receive the system skin with cleavage/no cleavage options as well as Slink hand and feet appliers and Omega body appliers also with cleavage/no cleavage options. Between this and the Klaasje fantasy skin blogged {Here} also from 7 Deadly s{K}ins I might just go drow permanently. The Trick or Treat Lane event though lasts until the 1st of November.

Windows to the soul…

To complete the look are the Hazelnut eyes from Out of Orbit. I tend to go for blue or grey eyes so this was a nice and free change up. These eyes are part of the EnMashed in Fall hunt and aside from the system eyes, you’ll also receive mesh ones with an alpha layer and Huds for Genesis Heads and Heads that use the Omega system. Find the bat that’s hiding in the store and buy for 0L. The EnMashed in Fall hunt is running until the 15th of November.

Ready? Pose!

New types of hunts and games are always something that I look out for and the Hocus Pocus event that is running until the 4th of November was something that caught my attention. You’ll need to go to a participating merchant for the Hud, Elephante Poses is one such merchant, and once you get the teleport list visit the stores to find a magic bottle. Once found say hocus pocus in local chat (game is case sensitive so remember all small letters) and depending on your luck and some magic you may get the item for free. If you’re not so lucky (you’ll get one chance per 24 hours) but still fancy the prize, you can buy it for 50L. That’s what happened to me for this Psycho pose set from Elephante but since I do love the poses from this store and was so tickled by the little prop knife that’s included with the set I got it anyway.

And that wraps it up. So many events going on this season and more besides…what are you still doing here? -Brandishes knife- Off you go.

“Oh no, no,” said the little Fly, “to ask me is in vain,
For who goes up your winding stair
     -can ne’er come down again.”

Be My Frankenstein

Be My Frankenstein Hello Fab Free’rs! It’s good to be back from a long weekend away. I’m super excited to finally be able to share this look with you! Can you believe we’ve got just 6 days until Halloween? Do you have your costume ready? I still have no idea how I’ll dress up. The main reason I can’t decide on something is because there are so many cool costume ideas. I am however leaning toward a pin-up style Bride of Frankenstein thanks to these FREE and inexpensive items from Clawtooth, Stix, and Vero Modero.

Starting with this iconic hairstyle from Clawtooth, it doesn’t get much more “Bride of Frankenstein” than this! The “Bride of Frankie” hair is on sale at Clawtooth for just 25 lindens. It’s also a fatpack, so you can change it up a little if you want to put your own twist on the look and go with a hair color other than black. I also found I was able to match a Catwa hairbase (part of the Catwa head features) really well to this frighteningly fun hairstyle by Clawtooth. Don’t miss out on this limited time offer!

Stix put out a group gift this month as well. This FREE gift is a pretty set of fall/Halloween lip appliers. Included in the set are 3 lip colors, the green and black version shown, a solid smi-gloss looking black, and a pretty baby pink shade. All three shades come in an applier hud for Catwa, Lelutka, Genesis, TMP, and Omega compatible heads, as well as classic system layers. You’ll find this lovely gift for FREE on the group gift wall at Stix. It’s to the right as you enter the shop. The “PixyStix” group is FREE to join. You’ll also find a few lucky letter boards, and several previous gifts still available, just don’t forget to wear your group tag!

The finishing touch is another FREE group gift, this one from Vero Modero. I have seen various versions of this blood drippy necklace a lot of places in real life and I was so excited to see it as a group gift in second life. This fun choker is unisex, the resize scripts allow it to be sized to fit any avatar. The Vero Modero group is FREE to join, making this fun gift FREE as well. All you need is group space.

Here are the details, Enjoy!

The best cure

The best cure

The best cure for the Weekday Blues, in my opinion, is free gifts. Hello, dear readers and welcome to another edition of Edi’s Costume Ideas where I bring to you some hopefully helpful free or under 75L finds for your upcoming Halloween festivities. This episode, so to speak, is rather special as not only is it coming to you during the weekend, but also features an item from one of our Fabulous Designers! This sleek Nurse Betty outfit is brought to you by Brandy’s Boutique and you can get your copy for free just by joining the Fabulously Free in SL inworld group. How do I do that, you ask? Well, it’s easy! All you have to do is copy and paste the following link into local chat in your SL viewer: secondlife:///app/group/020fa7af-444d-f54f-01e2-557ec06315fd/about , hit enter and click on the link. Ta-da! Welcome to the group, now you’re ready to get your gift.

The Nurse Betty outfit consists of a chic, minimalistic body suit that comes in several different clothing layers for the classic avatar. I just love to mix and match as you know and really appreciate the additional layers (jacket, shirt, and tank layer for the top half of the outfit and pants and underwear layer for the bottom half) in case I want to wear anything additional on top of the outfit. There are several different appliers for mesh bodies included in the package as well such as the Belleza, Lena, Maitreya, Omega and Slink appliers. As an added bonus, the cute hat and stethoscope are included in the gift as well.

While there is a pair of red ballet straps contained in the Nurse Betty outfit that was a perfect fit for my Slink high feet, I’ve decided to show you another alternative. The beautiful coral pair of shoes pictured comes from Renegade Footwear and you can get them for free just by slapping the Midnight Mania board at the store. The board as a pretty low target number (25) and there is no group join needed to get in on the contest. In the package is not only shoes for Slink feet but for Belleza, Eve, Maitreya and TMP feet as well. The prize also contains a footbase and hud so that you can fiddle around with the color and look of your new shoes.

Cute accessories are another a weakness of mine and they don’t come any cuter than the aptly named Love Drug from Glutz. I had to resize the thigh straps a little so that it didn’t bite into the skin but lucky for me the Love Drug accessory is unrigged mesh and copayable so I was able to make some backups in case of mistakes. The gift comes with an extensive hud and you can spend hours experimenting and figuring out the perfect color combination. Best of all the Love Drug accessory is completely free. Just head on down to the Glutz main store to get the clue for the Quest Fur Cover Hunt that is running until the 31st of this month. Once you find the prize, buy for 0L.

Speaking of hunts did you know that there’s a really interesting one going on at 7 Deadly s{K}ins? I’m always looking for new hunt experiences and enjoy mulling over the clues so the Witch Hunt going on now at 7 Deadly s{K}ins was truly a fun experience. You’ll need to buy a hud for 1L at the front courtyard of the store and from there hunt for bones. Don’t worry the hud will help you keep track of which bones you’ve found and there’s a grand prize to be had as well. The skin I’m wearing in the picture above is one of the hunt prizes and is called Zara and comes in the tone taupe with cleavage and no cleavage options for classic skin. There are also appliers for Slink, Tango, Wowmeh and Phatazz included. I simply love the light dusting of freckles all over the skin’s face and body. The little details are always so spiffy aren’t they? The hunt at 7 Deadly s{K}ins lasts till the end of the month and there are prizes for guys as well so grab a friend and head on down.
