Happy Thanksgiving’s Eve!

whc noname blue hoodie 2_001

First, a word to any turkeys who might happen upon this post… RUN! With that out of the way, happy Wednesday everyone! We are to the end of the month and the holiday season is in full swing. I know at the Fab Free office party we will be giving thanks both in the traditional sense of the holiday and thanks to our readers who are always the reason we do what we do. It really matters that you choose to read us; and, I know we are all very proud that you do. Today’s post will be shorter than usual, since there are preparations to be made so tomorrow I can take my rightful place in the kitchen: tallest man at the kids’ table. Heaven knows how old I will be when I finally graduate to the adult’s table.

This week in my travels, I had a lucky chair win! I don’t often win on chairs but over at NoName luck was with me, and the letter “W” came up while I was shopping. The prize was this sharp-looking dark blue hoodie which comes with two variations in the box. The version of the Tyler Hoodie I chose for the picture has light blue trim and arms, but also in the box is a hoodie without the lighter tones. This is a great looking FREE hoodie either way! Each version comes in five sizes for a good fit. I am very happy with this find! The prizes in the two lucky chairs at NoName rotate. So, in order to get this particular prize, patience or a great deal of luck will be required. However, it is a very good store and whatever you score on the chairs will likely be a keeper.

Although we will be doing a special Fab Free round-up of FREE skins December First, I couldn’t resist showing you this skin since it is a prize from a hunt that ends this month. This is the STORM skin in Taupe w/o hairbase from 7 Deadly s{K}ins and is offered FREE as a hunt prize in the Dirty Turkey Hunt! Pictured on the left, the gift includes this skin in two tones, each of which comes with and without hairbase variations. As always, with 7 Deadly s{K}ins this is excellent work, a very real-looking skin good enough for a picky old resident like me as well as being a must pick-up for new male residents who are looking to shed that freshly hatched look that none of us covet.

On the right side of the above picture I am wearing a tattoo layer in addition to this wonderful skin. Setting a new Fab Free record for least amount of notice given to people to pick up something nice…WHC Riler for telling you there is a fantastically useful Bitter Sweet Hunt prize over at L’Anguisette but the hunt ends tonight! The prize is a unisex set of four tattoo layers that apply realistic facial freckles to whatever skin you choose to wear. You might not use them now but things like this are great to keep around since they can combine with skins you might like in the future to give you just the right look you are searching for. For only 2L this hunt prize is a bargain and the hunt object you are looking for is shaped like a skull. With free skin day approaching this is a great pick up for your inventories in my opinion! Maybe with luck L’Anguisette, might forget to remove the hunt prize a few more days. I will cross my fingers and pop in my sad puppydog eyes when I talk to them.

That’s all for now, keep an eye out for the special skin posts coming up on the beginning of December. From our family at Fab Free to all of you, thank you for all the support and attention you give to us. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving, and I will see you on the grid.—–WHC Riler

Wistfully Reflecting Upon My Salad Days…

Anims rising salad 1_001

Oh, my reckless SL youth! Those crazy days when I once wore a costume very much like this and danced on a pole at a club. It was a very odd time, but even back then I was very “Me”. In particular, I recall some rather dubious emoting capped with my all time favorite self observation. Shouting “Hey look, I’m a salad!” to the audience, my sexiness knew no bounds in those early days…

I am still having great fun unpacking prizes from The Spooky Nights Hunt, Presented By Firestorm. Animations Rising has put out an amazing FREE gift for the hunt, one too big for me to adequately describe. In fact, it took days for me to unpack it! It includes 55 male outfits from both the Rising Tribal and Rising Silks series and another 24 female ensembles. They seem to be pre-Mesh but they are bursting with extras and special effects particle sets, which could be especially useful when putting together your own costume and role-play outfits. The Rising Tribal – Gaius II – outfit is a tribute to the Greek Mother Goddess. The vines and leaves that wrap around the body are objects to wear rather than simply clothing layers. This means there is depth to them as opposed to looking inked or painted on. The dark green modesty pouch is very sexy but it does not conceal a great deal of you so carrying a large green houseplant or two might be useful to help keep covered up on sims that frown on something this revealing. This is outrageous clothing, so do me proud and if you wear it, try extra hard to make it memorable for everyone around you. My bet is that will be a task easily accomplished!

animations rising youth 2_001

The Youth is another FREE gift included in Animations Rising‘s Spooky Nights Hunt Prize. It is the epitome of simplicity, consisting of an excellent loincloth, a wrist band and a leg band. Inspired by and featuring indigenous influences, there are an additional 7 outfits from the Rising Tribal series included in this enormous prize. For the pic above, I appropriated the spear from the warrior costume. First of all, I needed a weapon to give me that menacing look. Secondly, I wanted to point to the big white feathers adorning it and shout “Biggest…chicken…ever!”

The picture above also features the face paint from Fallen Gods Inc. It is another excellent FREE hunt item from The Spooky Nights Hunt and comes in four color schemes: Toxic, Magic, Flames and Doom. I chose to wear Doom with The Youth because it is dark and ashy, giving me a more primal and menacing look. This is an excellent pick up because it is a perfect finishing touch for a costume. Whether you intend to go out clubbing or prefer to role play, it will probably be a useful addition to your wardrobe.

whc solar 5_001

This final pic is of a silk outfit called Rising Silks – Solar , yet another prize from the Animations Rising massive FREE Spooky Nights Hunt Gift. Quite a few sexy male silks are included and some of them, such as “Solar”, include amazing particle light shows which are customizable and can be turned off if you prefer. You have to love a creator who says “In short, Rising Silks are designed to be SEXY, and that means, to ride very low on the hips, and cover as little as possible, while still being elegant and masculine.” This is some seriously creative stuff, and in this gift you will find an incredible variety of useful items.

This concludes my weekly chance to try to get away with showing as much skin as possible. If you haven’t started hunting yet, The Spooky Nights Hunt, Presented By Firestorm is a wonderful way to begin. The hunt object you are looking for is a skull, and Animations Rising is store number 16 on the Wicked path. Fallen Gods Inc. is store number 1 on the Bones path. With the holiday season in progress now, this is the time to pick up some fantastic freebies hunting. Take care and see you on the grid!—–WHC Riler

Stand with Paris

Support Paris

To show support for France and specifically those in Paris who suffered recently many talented designers have been offering gifts. I believe in the power of positive actions, and in the positive energy that occurs when we offer support, compassion, and strength to each other in times of tragedy. These thoughtful gifts are a way we can show our support for those who have suffered and are still suffering. I feel it is a beautiful thing that we can come together and express our compassion for each other even in Second Life.

The above dresses are both FREE group gifts from Entice. The Entice group is currently FREE to join. You’ll find the dresses in the center of the store near the other group gifts. Simply pay the vendor 1 linden while wearing your group tag to get both these mesh dresses. You will be instantly refunded your linden. Also shown above is a pretty headband from ECCO. There’s no need to join any groups for this FREE gift, simply stop by the ECCO main store and pick it up. My personal favorite of the gifts I came across is this detailed Eiffel Tower necklace from Flippant. This gift is also FREE and there’s no need to join a group. The gift can be found just inside the entrance at the Flippant main store. These great heels are yet another FREE gift to show support. They also go perfectly with everything! These FREE shoes by Rosa Gothica Creations are meant for Slink high feet and I found them on the Marketplace.

Strength for Paris

If dresses and heels aren’t your style but you still want to show your support, these next gifts are the ones for you. This over-sized t-tshirt is very well done and includes a men’s version. The shirts are from Chopard Couture and I found them for FREE on the Marketplace. Lastly, I picked up this cheeky eye-patch at Envious. The eye-patch reads “Stay Strong” and is a FREE group gift. You will need to join the Envious group for this one, however, the group is FREE to join at this time.  I sincerely hope you enjoy these great gifts, a special thanks to the designers for taking a moment to make them available.

Firestorm Brings Us Spooky Nights!

whc td church2_001

Happy Wednesday everyone, and Happy Veteran’s Day to my American friends! Hunting has picked up on the grid lately and right now there are plenty of great items to be had for FREE or at a minimal price. This week I concentrated on the Spooky Nights Hunt presented by Firestorm. With close to 150 FREE hunt gifts spread out over five Firestorm sims, there is definitely enough hunting to keep a person busy (especially when the person in question loves to find freebies!)

The FREE Spooky Nights Hunt prize from Tiffany Designs is a highly smart-looking Mesh garment. The TD Bruno Mesh Blazer is a one piece mesh jacket with the shirt and tie integrated into it. While provided with it is a white pair of slacks, I feel that it really shines with a pair of black dress pants that I pulled from my inventory. The textures are done well and look natural, as if they are separate items of clothing. For the Spooky Nights Hunt, the hunt object you are looking for is a skull. This particular hunt prize has the unusual name “FS-SNH-Bones -Ripple stud Watchers Design I.” It is actually store number eighteen on the “Bones” leg of the hunt, so that you can find the appropriate hint on the Firestorm Spooky Nights Hunt hint page.

whc casual 3_001

For a more laid back look PoshTale has contributed the Jireh Hooded Shirt to the “Wicked” leg of the Spooky Nights Hunt. It has a rough, masculine texture and comes with a 10-color hud! Nicely designed hoodies show up often in store hunts these days, but finding one that includes such a variety of textures is uncommon. It comes in five sizes, plus an additional five in fitmesh. It’s an excellent FREE hunt prize and I heartily recommend that you take a look at it. As I mentioned above, the hunt object is a skull and PoshTale is store number 14 on the “Wicked” leg of the hunt.

The Firestorm Spooky Nights Hunt is huge and fun to do. Don’t miss this opportunity. Stay tuned because later this month I will show off some of the super sexy stuff from the Animations Rising gift. It is an amazingly generous package and you won’t believe what’s in it! Until then, take care everyone! See you on the grid!—–WHC Riler

LaVian&co Salutes The Armed Services!

whc lavian military 2_001
Next Wednesday is Veteran’s Day, a time to honor everyone who has answered the call to serve their country in the U.S. Armed Forces. Just in time, LaVian&co has a great set of military inspired outfits offered in their men’s group gifts. LaVian&co, renowned for classy women’s clothing with a high-end sense of style, has entered into the men’s clothing market with the new LaVian Male group. Like its sister group, the men’s group offers a huge selection of free group gifts. At the moment, the group join will set you back 99L, but if the group follows its sister group’s business model, you can anticipate the group join will eventually climb, making it a likely bargain at this price.

Several of the group gifts are worthy of mentioning here (after all, I did pick up thirty-eight group gifts). For now, I will concentrate on my favorite outfits; those which salute the United States Military. There are five outfits in this series, each one devoted to a branch of the United States’ Armed Services, including The Coast Guard. Each outfit consists of a brown leather jacket with appropriate patches on the front and an extremely eye-catching full color graphic on the back. On the left in the above picture, you see the front of the US Marine Corps jacket and on the right a side view of the Army jacket. I chose that side view so you can see the patches on the front and a hint of the beautiful graphic on the back of that jacket at the same time. The best way to appreciate these jackets is to click on them twice and see the full-size images in my flickr.

whc lavian military 3_001

In the second picture, you can see the front of the Navy jacket along with the fantastic T-Shirt texture. These jackets all come in five sizes, including two fitmesh sizes. They can be worn with or without the T-Shirt. Next to the Navy jacket is the back of the Air Force jacket in full color. This set of jackets has some very awesome artwork. Even if you aren’t American, or have no interest in military matters, this series of group gifts is a great pickup. Each of these outfits comes with a very nice pair of Mesh Jeans in five sizes, an excellent addition of classic jeans to any man’s wardrobe. You get great basic men’s jeans in four colors (one color is used twice) even if you don’t care for the jackets! To round out these group gifts, they even include a pair of military boots. This is a fantastic set of gifts!

I strongly suggest you go take a look at LaVian Male. The group join is steeper than I usually care for, but for the number of group gifts you get, plus the likelihood that there will be many more in the future, 99L is likely to be a very good investment for most male avatars. Take care everyone and I’ll see you on the grid!—–WHC Riler

About Face!

whc half mask 4_001

I love masks. I pick up every one I can find, so you can imagine how much I love Halloween! Instead of a full costume this week, I want to share with you a pair of masks I picked up while hunting recently. First though, let’s take a look at what I am wearing above.

The Medieval Fantasy Hunt XIV is underway and, while I don’t have any actual medieval fantasies, it turns out that they are entirely optional! Acios gives us a unique hunt prize called The Inquisitor. It is a mesh outfit with the jacket, shirt, waistcoat and pants integrated into one great-looking garment. It comes packaged in five sizes to help with fitting and even includes shoes. The textures are elegant and this hunt item is available for FREE! I do have a few notes about The Inquisitor as I wear it in the picture. I added black socks from my inventory and increased the diameter of my neck and head slightly. It is not unusual for me to change my avy to get just the right fit. Also, the first time I wore the shoes, they appeared in my right hand. I am reaching out to the creator regarding the issue. Meanwhile, no worries! It is simple to correct: instead of choosing to “wear” them, select “attach” in the inventory menu and select “feet”. Then manually adjust them in the edit menu for a perfect fit. It was definitely worth picking up, and, In my oh-so-humble opinion, I think it makes me look fantastic!

Masks can be terrifying but they don’t have to be. They can be other things like mysterious and erotic, which brings me to the Masked Jester Half Mask from Trashed. The prize from the 1L Poppin’ Penguin Hunt Circus Edition, it comes together with a colorful jester’s hat and would be handy in putting together a costume like that. When I saw it though, visions of dark masquerade balls came to mind. It has a curvy, sensuous flow to the mesh and the half covered face is a highly eye catching look. It is black for a very masculine look and is resizeable to help get a great fit. However you decide you can use it, this is a very unique mask and definitely deserves some attention.

whc madman 6_001

What would Halloween be without the other kind of mask? Representing the terrifying mask genre, here is one that might give you nightmares just looking at it. The Stitched Mask from Swagga has a delightful hand-stitched-from-human-skin kind of look, just perfect for today’s madman on the go! It goes with many different outfits, although I prefer the rural-maniac-who-lives-in-a-shack look. Its handcrafted, timeless style will never go out of fashion. Kidding aside, this is one nightmare-inducing Mesh mask and it is available for FREE! Celebrating the The Seasons Story Second Anniversary shopping event, it is a wonderful piece of work. Hurry up and get yours soon!

It has gotten late in the evening as I write this and I have become nearly giddy in my enthusiasm for the approaching holiday! I hope you enjoyed the costumes and items I have posted as much as I enjoyed ferreting them out. It has been great fun! Take care everyone and, until next time, see you on the grid!—–WHC Riler

Have Good Vibes & Stay Incognito

When you find yourself smack dab in the middle of a green witches cauldron and dead bodies.. the best thing you can do is give off good vibes and stay incognito.  Perhaps she’ll overlook your presence as she did mine.

Overhigh is having an instore mini hunt and inside the shop you can find three hidden boxes that contain the Bex Top, Jeans Shorts and Knotted Izzie Shirt.  All of these items are free to pick up and they make for a super cute casual outfit for a warm fall season.  I am not sure how long this hunt will last, so put your hunting boots on and head down there ASAP.

I should also mention that my Bossy Socks are a free gift at  (fd) and they fit perfectly into their Bossy Boots which are 75L per gacha play.  You’ll find this machine at their shop by the socks right at the landing point.

Wondering about my bag head?  This fun Halloween accessory is the free TAG! Gacha Treat prize that you’ll get when you slap the TAG! urn at Remarkable Oblivion.

Now Go Do That Voodoo, That You Do So Well!

whcdbl voodoo 1_001

The best way to get a feel for a city is by moonlight. During the hustle of the day, most cities take on a similar hum with the activity of commerce. It is a din that drowns out all else. With the quiet of nightfall, you can feel the beating of each city’s unique heart. New Orleans, steeped in dark magical power, is one of my favorite cities (okay, and maybe it’s round-the-clock partying has something to do with that!).

What better place to be a Voodoo King than the city of New Orleans? Dressed By Lexi has long been a favorite store of some of the women I know. Honestly, I hadn’t been to the store lately so when a friend told me I HAD to check it out, I jumped at the chance to visit. This month, Dressed By Lexi has been putting Halloween costumes on sale for 55L every week! This week, I am wearing the Mesh Voodoo King costume. It consists of two main pieces and a bunch of goodies tossed in to sweeten the deal. The black trousers come in seven sizes and are tattered where the cuffs would be. The Voodoo King Vest comes in five sizes and, while also dark, is rich in color and pattern making it quite fetching. That wide range of sizes does a great job of taking care of any fit issues. The costume doesn’t end there though; it includes some fun goodies too! The Voodoo King Staff and the face paint mask comprise an extremely scary looking pair of accessories. Add to them the necklace, top hat, and sandals (for regular avy feet) and you get a lot for the money! I saved the best detail for last: Dressed By Lexi makes their costumes for couples! So, if you are looking to go out for a romantic date wearing matching Halloween costumes, they have you covered. In fact, they are so thoughtful, the outfits are transfer enabled!

Hurry over to Dressed By Lexi to pick up the Voodoo King today, because the 55L Thursdays Sale items change every week. Of course, that’s actually good news if you collect great costumes like I do. I, for one, have a date to go dancing with my beautiful editor Andi wearing last week’s sale costumes: Tarzan and Jane. I can think of no better way to celebrate the continuing of Fab Free than to celebrate with someone who has tirelessly given her time to make me seem smarter than I really am. Have fun everyone and see you on the grid!—–WHC Riler

Satyrically Speaking…

Hello my friends! I have been working my pixels off searching for awesome and unique Halloween-related items for men this year. I am starting off my October posts by showing you my favorite costume of the year so far: The Satyr from Siren’s Moon. The Satyrs were lustful, drunken woodland Gods. In short, my kind of deities! I considered researching Satyrs to fill this post with fascinating background information about them… but, why do that if I can make stuff up!?! For instance, did you know the Satyrs were not driven extinct because of acute liver problems related to alcoholism? You would think that, but after significant consideration, I came to the conclusion it was most likely due to stumbling drunkenly in the woods and choking to death on their pan flutes. At least I am pretty sure that’s how I would have gone had I been a Satyr.

Anyway, Siren’s Moon has made this excellent costume, a tribute to Greek mythology and the Satyrs, companions of Dionysus the Greek God of fertility and wine. The costume consists of a lower body alpha, a pants texture and beautifully done goat-influenced Satyr legs and tail. A laurel wreath and a set of horns provide the head with an authentic look. Together with a pan flute, this is quite an impressive hunt gift. So, if you are looking for a Halloween costume and want to stand out, this is a great pick up! For only 1L, it truly is a bargain. Take care everyone and, until next time, see you on the grid!—–WHC Riler
