A Rambling Gypsy Soul

Grateful For the Little Things

When I was out with the pupster on one of our shopping jaunts, we moseyed over to EarthStones, which just so happens to be one of my favorite jewelry stores in Second Life.  I meandered around the store, admiring the many baubles on display.  Meanwhile, Rip sniffed around, then excitedly grabbed my hand, led me over to the teleport board, and nosed the “Bargain Loft” section.  He didn’t have to show me more than once!  We popped upstairs, and in no time, I spotted the perfect accessories, priced well within my budget at only 75L each.  The Grateful Necklace and Bracelet, both in Ramble on Rose, echoed the pink and white tones in my dress, and suited my outfit to a “T.”  If you are in the market for jewelry, I encourage you to check out all the budget-friendly adornments available in the loft at EarthStones.

Hello Fabulouses! Feeling quite lucky after our last two finds in Brii Underground’s 1L Surf Girl Hunt, Ripley and I returned once more to see what else we could uncover. Thanks to the pupster’s talented nose, we came away with yet another complete outfit. Big grin!

Orange is the Happiest Color

Inside the clam shell, I discovered the bright, cheerful Lina outfit.  With a handkerchief-style, sleeveless crop top and shorts in the same vibrant pattern, this jaunty outfit is sure to leave you with lighthearted spirits and a bounce in your step.  Coordinating sandals for slink flat feet in a matching orange tone complete the look.  I love the batik print and found this ensemble perfect for a day of fun in the sun.  One added plus is that the appliers for the top and shorts are separate, which allows for the possibility of mixing and matching to create additional combinations.

High Tides And Good Vibes

Happy Saturday, Fabulouses!  After my last post {HERE}, Ripley and I returned to Brii Underground’s Surf Girl Hunt and did some more sleuthing.  As a youngster, I loved collecting seashells, and this hunt revived childhood memories of trips to the shore with my family.  Under my parents’ watchful eyes, I would traipse up and down the beach, plastic pail in hand, gathering my briny “treasures.”

A Casual Outfit You Will Treasure

After I pried open the clam shell from Brii Underground, I uncovered the Leidiane Beach Outfit, which was perfect for a day of beach combing.  A pair of denim shorts and an island themed, cropped t-shirt, complete with palm trees, gulls, and crashing waves form the basis of the costume.  To ward off the brisk ocean breezes, a dark blue, plaid over shirt completes the look.  This is definitely the type of clothing I would choose for a weekend get away in real life – comfortable and carefree.  Since I have a habit of wading out into the water to gather the perfect mollusk for my collection, I chose to slip on flip flops rather than the light blue platform sneakers which are part of the hunt gift.  For only 1 little Linden dollar, you get a complete look packed inside that tiny shell!

Homeward Bound

Hello there Fabulouses!  The beginning of the month means new hunts have rolled in; Ripley and I donned our detective hats, and did some sleuthing for you for today’s post.  Brii Underground Wear is hosting the Surf Girl Hunt from February 1st – 28th with 10 hunt gifts concealed in sea shells scattered around the store.  Each shell is priced at one linden and contains an entire outfit.  1L for a complete costume from clothes to footwear?  Count me in!

Meet Me at The Beach

The first mollusk we uncovered contained the Itapema outfit.  With a sheer, flowing, sleeveless jacket layered over a crop top, brightly hued capri-style leggings, and glittering golden sandals, you will be ready for a day of beach combing.  As soon as I saw the jacket on my avatar, I pictured the long hem fluttering in a gentle sea breeze as I strolled along the sand.  I really like how the muted hue of the top and jacket is livened up by the colorful stripes on the pants.  The metallic sheen on the heels included in the prize box echoes the golden decorations on the top, and really pulls the entire outfit together.

The Road to My Heart

Hello Fabulouses!  It’s hard to believe Valentine’s Day is only nine days away.  So much has gone on in my real life the past couple of months, it seems like the last time I looked at my calendar, it was the beginning of December, and now it’s almost the second week of February!  Lucky for me, I already have a special Valentine who is always by my side.  The road to this girl’s heart is paved with paw prints, specifically, my pal Ripley’s.

Not All Those Who Wander Are Lost

Happy Saturday, Fabulouses!  “Not all those who wander are lost.”  One of my favorite quotes from J.R.R. Tolkien, which lends itself well to today’s post.  The wanderlust bug bit Ripley and I today.  We decided to hit the road in this retro VW bus.  When we reached The Yorkshire Dales sim, we pulled over to camp for the night in our vintage vehicle.  While I lounged in comfort, daydreaming about our adventures to come, Rip cavorted across the grassy meadow, sniffing out bunny trails.

A Passion for Purple

Along our journey, the pup and I had pulled up outside the Petry Model Store, and meandered through the boutique to peruse the inventory.   When I saw the collection of group gifts on the wall, I quickly joined the free Petry Model Store group, and started shopping.  This lovely violet-hued dress was the first free group gift to catch my eye.  As you could probably tell from the hue of my blog post headings, purple is one of my favorite colors.  As soon as I saw this mini, I knew it was my next outfit to blog.  From the front, it appears as though the dress provides solid coverage (which it does in all the right areas), but the side and back views offer a sexy peek of skin.  It features a plunging v-neck, sash at the waist, and a slightly gathered skirt with an asymmetrical hemline.  Before I detail the contents of the gift package, here’s a full, front view picture:

Finishing Touches

To accessorize my look, I slipped on an amethyst pendant from Elemental Earth Designs, which I found on the Marketplace for only 50L.  Its teardrop shaped, sculpted gem is a perfect match for the color of my dress, and the price was right up my alley, too.  The simple styling of the pendant along with its leather cord, provided just the right amount of sparkle while still allowing my dress to shine on center stage.

Time to Rescue the Bunnies

I think it’s time to reign in the pupster, and give the bunnies some well deserved peace and quiet.  After relaxing next to the campfire with a cold beverage for me, and a refreshing bowl of water for the rascally rabbit chaser, we’ll hopefully spot a shooting star to wish on before we call it a night.  Until my next post, happy shopping!

Free as a Bird (or Two)

Well, hello there Fabulouses!  On this cool, gray day, Ripley and I set out to explore the Whimberly sim, and we met up with some old friends we had first encountered waddling up a ramp into their washtub pond {HERE} over on the Painter’s Link sim.  As you can see, they are all grown up now, and have migrated to a home of their own away from Mama and Papa.

A Thick, Knitted Sweater to Ward off the Chill

Even though it was a brisk cloudy day, I stayed cozy and warm throughout my visit with Cali and Abigail, thanks to my free sweater from Luziefee.  My Tula knitted shirt is the latest gift for Fabulously Free in SL group members from designer Luzie Cheng of Luziefee.  I discovered three versions tucked inside the package – red, blue, and  green.  Since its bands of cool colors reminded me of the beach glass I used to collect as a child, I opted to wear the green sweater for my photo. Each color pack comes in a variety of sizes from XXS to L, so you are sure to find just the right fit for your avatar.  The texture of the chunky knitting is quite realistic looking!  Also included in the present is a Nail HUD so you can apply perfectly matching striped polish to your fingertips if you so desire.  Sadly, I didn’t notice the polish until after I had snapped my photo.  To add Tula to your sweater collection, simply switch over to your Fabulously Free in SL group tag, pop on over to Luziefee, and click the gift board.  It’s easy and completely free!

Glitter Glass

Ripley must have known I was in a beach glass state of mind, because he approached me with the Powder Blue Glitter Glass Necklace from Evica dangling from his mouth.  He nudged my leg and offered me his Fabulous Find.  As you may already know, my boy has a nose for bargain-priced fashion finds, and today was no exception.  He had discovered this gorgeous piece of jewelry on the Marketplace for a mere 50L.  After slipping the bauble around my neck, I rewarded the pup with his favorite Ripley snack, and we shared a celebratory high-five.

Complete the Look

The other day, when I logged on, I was happy to see an offline IM that had been left by Fabulous Reader, Rowan Carroll, telling me about a nail art shop I had never been to before called The Odd Eyed Cat.  As soon as I read the words “the entire store of appliers is under 75L,” I teleported so quickly Ripley almost couldn’t track me down!  There is an adorable pink, red and black striped Gillian polish on the wall for only 1L (definitely scooped that one up!) and tons of other color combinations for either Maitreya or Slink nails throughout the store.  When I spotted the Tabitha Nail Applicator in Neutral Blankes, I was entranced by its metallic, gleaming finish.  The blue tone was a lovely match for my sea glass sweater.  I only spent 59L for 12 hues of polish in this one package.  It was a great deal!  Thank you for the tip, Rowan! 🙂

Off to Face the Middle of the Week…

Hello Fabulouses!  With a smattering of days left in January, Ripley and I decided to dust off his tracking harness, and try our luck at rounding up a few hunt prizes to share with you.   After reading about the Cute and Curvy Hunt 2 in Edi’s posts {HERE} and {HERE}, we opted to put the pupster’s nose to the test over at Firelight Creations first.

What’s at the Center of that Lollipop?

The Cute and Curvy Hunt 2 icon, a lollipop, was indeed cleverly hidden in the Firelight Creations store.  It took some dedication, circling around and around the shop, and searching high and low. I had almost given up in frustration, when Rip gave a sudden tug to the leash, yanked it out of my hand, and bolted off. A mad scramble followed with me trying to keep pace with his flying paws.  I caught up with him as he sat and stared intently at the prize location.  After purchasing the hunt gift for just one little Linden dollar, we teleported home to examine our bounty.  Tucked inside the package, I happily discovered the Nixie Denim Set, a versatile collection of jeans in various lengths from shorts to the full pant style I chose to wear for our photo.  The dark denim jeans are perfect for a casual hike through the woods as Ripley and I chose to do, or they can be glammed up… it all depends on how you accessorize them.  I really liked the realistic denim hue, and the details of the stitching and rivets.  If you’d like to claim this wonderful collection of jeans for yourself, head on over to Firelight Creations before the hunt ends on January 31st.

Perfect Plaid Poncho

With the chilly winter temperatures, I wanted a warm and cozy top to wear as Rip and I explored the picturesque Winter Trace sim, and the Outlet Marketplace Hunt prize from AmAzInG CrEaTiOnS was ideal.  Thick and comfortable, with a cheery pink, red,  and burgandy plaid pattern, this poncho wrapped me in stylish comfort.  It buttons on the side of the neck and is long enough to ensure my tummy is shielded from any winter breezes traipsing around.  From the hunt prize picture, it looks like the texture of the poncho can be modified, but since I love red, I opted to keep it in its original form.  Also included in the prize package is a long sleeve dress, but I chose to don only the cape.  One nice thing about this hunt is Ripley and I didn’t have to circle around, hunting through a physical store.  All we had to do was peruse the AmAzInG CrEaTiOnS Marketplace shop.  It didn’t take long at all to locate the hunt gift, add it to my cart, and check out for a grand total of 10L well-spent.  If you’d like to scoop up this poncho for yourself, don’t delay, as the Outlet Marketplace Hunt ends January 30th.

Hope is a Thing With Feathers

As Rip and I strolled along, exploring Winter Trace, this darling little feathered friend alighted on my outstretched hand.  Its cheerful presence made me think of the Emily Dickinson poem “Hope is a Thing With Feathers.”  I paused, listened to his cheerful song, then snapped this photo before the little guy fluttered on his way.  Our hearts lighter after our avian encounter, Rip and I headed home.  My wish for you, my friends, is that hope fills your hearts today.  Until my next post, happy shopping!  Just for fun, here is a link to the famous poem set to music and beautifully sung.

Hello Fabulouses.  Do any of you know if the SL version of AAA services tractors?  In RL, I’ve run out of gas, had a dead battery, and locked my keys in the car.  Every time, the AAA rep arrived like a knight in shining armor, and saved me.  However, today…. I don’t think that will be the case.  😦 After Ripley and I returned from our trip, a friend of mine called, saying he needed help with plowing his field.  When I saw the rusted condition of his tractor, I glanced at him dubiously. “The tank is full,” he said.  My eyebrow raised.  “I just tuned it up,” he said.  Both eyebrows raised.  “Nothing to worry about,” he said.  Famous.  Last.  Words.   She did start up like a charm, I’ll grant him that, but after one trip around the field, with a shudder and a cough, she just….gave….up.  No amount of coaxing, no amount of promises of Ripley snacks, no amount of helpless pounding on the steering wheel worked.  I was stranded.

Pretty as a Pin Up

Well, if I have to be stuck with a stubborn, tired old tractor, at least I look glamorous in my Retro Pin Up Outfit from Meli Imako.  With a vintage, knotted checkered top, and fitted denim capris, this adorable number makes me feel like a sexy, fifties pin up girl.  I love the detail the designer put into this creation such as the slightly puffed sleeves, buttons on the shirt, and the pocket accents on the pants.  This outfit is the featured free January gift at Meli Imako’s Marketplace store because it earned the most likes on the designer’s Facebook page.  I’d have to agree with all the votes……it’s a great choice!

Put Your Red Shoes On

I admit it, my heels are in no way practical for driving a tractor around a field, but they called my name.  As soon as I saw the Cinzia pumps fat pack featured in the KC Couture Marketplace store for only 75L, I knew they had to be mine.  Constructed of rigged mesh, these classic heels have a timeless elegance which totally complemented my retro ensemble.  A 30 color texture HUD makes these shoes extremely versatile.  You can customize them to go with any outfit.   These stilettos require mesh feet, and fit Slink High, Maitreya, Belleza and the Eve Mesh Body.  I wouldn’t recommend wearing them for a day of plowing, but hey, it’s SL!  Where else could I drive a tractor and walk around in muddy, scrubby fields, and never mar my shoes?

I don’t think help will arrive any time soon.  It’s time for this girl to save herself, and hoof it on back to civilization.  I’ve got a pup at home who is probably worried sick about me.  Until my next post, happy shopping!
