It’s Time for Some Retail Therapy

Hello, Fab Free!  I hope you are having a fantastic weekend.  I decided to spend some time today exploring the Whispering Windz sim.  If you are looking for a lovely place to visit, I’d highly recommend taking a journey there yourself.  It has meandering paths that work their way through a beautiful fall landscape.  Before my idyllic afternoon, I picked up a couple of free gifts that I am excited to share with you.

But First, Lipstick

I decided to check out the 18th Round of MIIX Event this morning, and I’m so glad I did.  Right at the landing zone, there is a free gift set out for members of the Hype Events ::: News and Offers ::: group, which is free to join.  The Make Me Matte Lipstick Set from Opulein is compatible with Lelutka Evo and Evo X, Genus and Catwa HD Pro mesh heads.  It features two creamy shades, pink and taupe, in BOM appliers as well as a tattoo layer.   I opted for the blush-colored version, but either one will leave your lips looking lusciously soft.  I’ve included a close-up photo below so you can get a better view of this gorgeous makeup.  While you’re at the event location, you might want to tap the giveaway board for a chance to win a Lelutka or Furtacor gift card and Blogger Room access.  Good luck if you decide to enter!

‘Tis Bat Season

I am a kid at heart and look forward to October 31st every year, so I decided to get my Halloween vibe going a little early.  Over at Mister Razzor Body Shop, I joined the group for just 10L and picked up a free ear tattoo as a group gift.  It is comprised of a small cauldron of bats – or is it a colony?  I am not exactly sure, but I call it adorable!  Created exclusively for the Lelutka Evo X mesh head, this gift includes a 100 percent version as well as a lighter 75 percent option.  I love how it is playful the design is!

Weekend Sales

I always look forward to the 60L Happy Weekend Sale, which runs Saturday through Sunday.  With a very reasonable price tag of just 60 Linden dollars per item, you can pick up some wonderful additions to your SL wardrobe without breaking the bank.  Today, I scored the Jola Dress from Meva.  With ruffled short sleeves, a laced bodice, and a flirty hemline, this ebony frock is ideal for early fall, and I have to say, the color is perfect for October.  If you toss in a witch hat and broomstick, it could even double for a Halloween costume.  The folder includes versions for the standard and petite Maitreya mesh bodies.

Over at [The Forge], I found another Happy Weekend offering for just 60 Linden dollars – a pair of over-the-knee stiletto style boots.  They look like they were tailor-made to coordinate with my new dress.  I really like the added detail of the golden buckles, which contrast beautifully with the buttery soft leather of the footwear.   Fortunately for me, my avatar has no problem maintaining her balance on the slender heels of these curve-hugging boots.  I opted for black to coordinate with my dress, but you can also find the Hellen Boots in seventeen other colors (each sold separately).

Out of the Woods

Hello Fabulouses!  I hope your week is off to a wonderful start.  It might look like Ripley and I are feeling all dark and brooding, but actually we enjoyed a bright sunny day in RL.  We’re here to share a couple of Fabulous Finds with you that we think you’ll really enjoy.

I’m Feeling a Bit Sassy…

It must be this new free Black Dress that I picked up over at the Sass store.  With a plunging neckline and two peek-a-boo slits in the skirt, it certainly is a flirty little number.  I love the way this frock hugs your curves and leaves your back tantalizingly bare.  You can’t really see them from my photo, but there are 3 little buttons that gleam in the light which add visual interest to the bodice.  The black and gray striped skirt section and over all dark color scheme made me think of a spooky, mysterious vibe, so Ripley and I decided to visit an eerie forest for our photo.  Although the weather might be getting more nippy outside, fortunately in SL, I don’t need to worry about catching a chill in this saucy mini dress. To pick up a copy for your SL wardrobe, you need to be a member of the Sass group, and there is a small 10 Linden dollar join fee, but I think this dress is well worth the investment!

These Boots

As much as I love my new dress, I *adore* the Petra Boots from Lindy Modern and Retro Shoes that I am wearing!  With a high heel design, detailed lacing and silver accents, these boots are great to wear with a dressier outfit, but also flexible enough to coordinate with a more casual style.  The white stitching really pops against the black leather background.  The folder includes versions for classic avatars (with a shoe base, alpha layer and a handy resizer for the perfect fit) as well as for Maitreya and Slink Hourglass.  All I had to do to add this versatile pair of footwear to my closet was to locate the collection of pillar candles hidden in the shop (and by *I*, I meant Ripley), pay the teensy 1L price and scurry home to try them on.  The Dark and Brooding Hunt runs until September 30th and features a gothic, vampire theme, which is perfect for the upcoming Halloween holiday.

Hello there Fabulouses!  This little birdie told Ripley and I about a free group gift from Pour Toujours.  When we arrived at the shop, we were pleasantly surprised to find not one, but five gifts for various groups on display.  This super sweet crop top is my absolute favorite out of all the goodies on the wall.

Forever Summer

Although we might be saying good bye to the carefree days of summer in real life, in Second Life, you can make your own seasons.  That being said, I was happy to discover a warm weather shirt which is sure to become a wardrobe fave of mine.  The Trexy top features an intricately fringed, cropped hem as well as a neckline that dips daringly low.  Although I opted for a bobbed hairstyle, you might want to wear long locks for extra coverage of the girls in front.  It’s kind of difficult to see in my photo, but this shirt has an asymmetrical style with one slitted, half sleeve on the left and a sleeveless tank style arm on the right, which lends the outfit a funky, free flowing vibe.  The folder includes a texture change HUD with three color options – white, red and black.  To add this flirty little number to your SL closet, you need to be a member of the SL Frees and Offers Group, but since there is no fee to join, you can scoop up this gift completely for free!

I Can Smell Autumn Dancing on the Breeze

Hello Fabulouses!  I hope you are as ready as I am for some fall colors.  Today, Ripley and I are bringing you a little slice of fall foliage as we share a couple of budget friendly Fabulous Finds.  I hope you like them!  Before I get into the details, if you are looking for a beautifully decorated autumn landscape, I’d highly recommend a visit to the Cherishville sim.  The puster and I really enjoyed the oranges, browns and other fall colors when we were there. They provided a wonderful contrast for the dark hues of my outfit.

A Great Hat Speaks for Itself

First up, my cheeky cap is a gift from the Inventory Trends store.  With a darling bow and just enough of a brim to shield your eyes from the sun, the Velma hat adds a functional and cute finishing touch to my ensemble.  Best of all, I picked it up for free, just by being a member of the Third Life Group.  The group has no join fee, so I didn’t have to pay a single Linden dollar for my newest fashion accessory.  Although the hat cannot be resized, I was able to move it around on my head and I resized my hair underneath to get the fit I was looking for.  The thoughtful designer tucked a HUD inside with three texture options so you can coordinate with different color schemes.  In addition to the black I am sporting, you could also choose red or a dark brown.  While you’re in the shop, you might want to try picking up one of the fourteen other gifts set out on the wall for members of various groups.  I’ve included a close up photo below so you can get a better look at Velma.

Hello there, Fabulous Readers!  I hope your week is off to a fantastic start.  Ripley and I paid a visit to one of our favorite shops today and picked up this lovely belted frock in a vibrant color (which happens to be my go-to shade to wear).  Best of all, it was completely free!

A Quiet Country Walk With My Pal

With its long skirt and sleeves, and high neckline, the Frill Sleeve Pleated Dress from S@bbia had me thinking of leisurely walks enjoying the crisp autumn air.  Since it has been over 110 degrees around my neck of the woods lately, I really, really am longing for the respite of fall!  Someday soon, it will come, right?  I just love the diamond patterned, lace texture on the fabric of this sweet dress and the way the belt is loosely knotted around my waistline.  My first thought for how to style it was to make my outfit a little bit country with cowgirl boots and a hat, but I spotted these cute Asymmetric Sandals in S@bbia, and decided to opt for slightly dressier instead.  Either way you go, this frock creates a charming look.  The folder includes just one size as well as an alpha layer for classic avatars, but I think it will work well with various mesh body types.  To add this versatile dress to your inventory, you need to be a member of the S@bbia group, but since there is no join fee, you can pick up a copy without spending a single Linden dollar!  While you are at the store, you can try your luck on the Guess and Win board and check to see if your letter appears on one of the Lucky Boards.  If you bring along your own good luck charm, you just might walk away with more than one addition to your wardrobe.  I know I did 🙂

Hello there, Fabulous Readers!  The pupster and I took off for the desert this past weekend and had a blast.  We dropped the old truck down into four wheel drive and made our own roads.  Of course, any trip out into treacherous terrain needs clothes suitable for the task, and it was the perfect opportunity to get my newest top broken in.  I picked it up free as a group gift.

Hello there, Fabulous Readers!  I hope you are having a lovely Saturday.  Ripley and I paid a visit to the Love Cats sim this morning.  It is truly beautifully done, and if you are looking for a quiet spot to relax, I’d highly recommend it.  Another trip I’d suggest is to the Leigh shop.  I picked up my new frock for free, just for being a member of the Leigh store group.

Darling Damask

The beautiful Desired Dress features a soft floral pattern across a slightly faded background color.  The fabric itself is well done with realistic wrinkles and stitching.  Side slits ensure you can easily maneuver and slender straps allow your shoulders to soak up some summer sunshine.  I chose the blue color variation, but with the enclosed HUD, you can select from 10 options, which you can then tint with 20 additional hues.  This little number is highly customizable, which makes it seem like you are getting an almost endless number of dresses in one folder.  Versions for classic as well as mesh body avatars are included in the gift.  Best of all, since the Leigh group has no join fee, you can truly pick up the Desired Dress completely for free!

Hello Fabulouses!  For my walk down a country road with the pupster, I put together a fun, casual outfit with two budget friendly separates that look like they were made for each other.  One of them is a free group gift, and the other is something I can pretty much guarantee you already have in your wardrobe! Sound intriguing?

Rocking Those Polka Dots

After joining the store group at Monomania for 50L, I had a plethora of group gifts just a click away.  The My Sweet Jeans Top practically called my name.  Created in a playful, late summer style with narrow shoulder straps, a bra-like fit and a delightful ruffled hem section, this cropped top features double strands that meet in a bow in back.  Cheery white polka dots grace the medium blue denim fabric.  I don’t know about you, but I am always extra happy when I wear polka dots!  While you are in the shop, you might want to pick up any or all of the *29* other free group gifts on the wall.

I knew I wanted to slip into high-waisted blue jeans to coordinate with my top, so I did a search for “jeans” in my inventory.  I tried on ALL (and I do mean all) of the jeans I had (queue the Sponge Bob *two hours later* clip), but just could not get the look I was going for.  My coffers were all but empty, so I knew a shopping spree would have to wait.  Desperate, I decided to peruse my “closet” once more.  Down at the bottom of my inventory, in the Initial Outfits of the Library folder, I spotted “Monique Jeans.”  Monique…. it sounds chic, and classy, which happened to be the look I was going for.  What the heck?  I thought, I’ll give it a go….it can’t hurt.  I am *so* glad I did!  I tried to wear the jeans individually, but for some reason, Firestorm wasn’t cooperating, so I just wore the whole avatar.   Now, Monique herself was not a look that I can rock, but her jeans – oh yeah- just what I wanted!  They are the right shade of blue, with slightly flared cuffs, a high buttoned waist, and the price was an absolutely perfect zero Linden dollars.  Piece by piece, I put the real me back on, alphaed out my legs, added the top, and was completely satisfied with the end result.  I hope you like it too!

Getting Some Exercise Around the Grid

Hello Fabulouses!  I hope your July is going well.  Ripley and I had a great time camping up in the mountains.  Even though we came back to sizzling temperatures, it feels good to be home.  The pupster didn’t want to eat much while we were away, and I was worried he had lost weight.  He actually gained a pound, so we decided the best thing to do was to hit the hunt trail in SL to get some exercise.  That still counts as exercise, right? 😉

Around the Grid

As we traversed the SL universe, we stopped by Nuts Inc, and Ripley discovered the hot air balloon hunt icon fairly quickly.  One nice thing about the Around the Grid Hunt is if you are short on time, you can pay 25 Linden dollars for the prize, or invest a bit of energy and discover the hidden hunt object and pay just 1 Linden dollar.  Thankfully, with the pupster’s help, I paid a very budget-friendly 1 Linden dollar for this adorable Sari outfit.  I just love the combination of blue and rusty hues in both the top and skirt.  This little number features a cropped top with a tasseled hemline and a mini skirt with two slits to make moving around a breeze.  Although I chose not to wear them, the hunt prize also included sandals and a backpack.  This outfit is compatible with classic and mesh body avatars.  The hunt runs until September 30th, so you have plenty of time to uncover some fabulous prizes.
