A Little Fun From Alaskametro

I’m loving the deals I found at the Spoonful of Sugar Festival, and I was delighted to see that Alaskametro has a 10L item out at their booth at the event. It’s inside the coconut.  100% of the donations for this item are given to Doctors Without Borders. This nail applier set includes a hud of tropical colours. I will admit that Aline’s love for Alaskametro’s products has totally worn off on me. There are so many shades and designs included in this set! Did you know that even if you use a BOM avatar you can wear omega nails if you have the omega kit installed in your body? They are so cool and I always enjoy using omega nails because they are easy to apply and use- they just apply onto the nails on your body. The Spoonful of Sugar Festival ends on September 18th, so you only have a couple of days left to grab this great nail set for only 10L. The Get Crabby Hunt!

I’ve been having lots of fun this month blogging the Spoonful of Sugar Festival. You can see my past posts on this complex and huge event here and here. Today I’m introducing you to another aspect of this event. On top of the main event, they have a hunt going on, which takes place at Get Crabby Hunt Island. As you explore the Sim, the hunt object you are looking for is a crab! This is a paid hunt, and a group join fee is required to participate in it. The group costs 500L to join. Pictures of all the Get Crabby Hunt prizes are posted on their hunt web page HERE. You will see group joiners for the hunt group at Get Crabby Hunt Island. You can also pick up a crab plushie and crab hats as a group gift there as well if you decide to join the hunt group. Here is the link to the hunt group to join if you have trouble finding it. Again, be warned that the group costs 500L to join.

Note that 100% of the funds that are spent towards the Get Crabby Hunt are being donated to Doctors Without Borders, and the designers do not make any profits from this hunt. It’s very kind of the creators out there to make all those products and to put them up for a benefit. Sometimes we don’t recognize how hard creators work to give us gifts, but to go the extra mile to donate beautiful products to a fundraiser that gives back to society shows how incredible the creative community in Second Life is. Doctors Without Borders is an organization that provides medical care to people around the world as a result of war, conflicts, and other crises. The Spoonful of Sugar Festival donated over 100, 000 real-life American dollars from this event in the last 7 years, and I hope these donations can help those in need around the world this year too! The Get Crabby Hunt ends on September 18th, so if you plan to do this hunt make sure you get to it well before this date so you have time to find all the prizes.

Do you Love to Mix & Match?

First off, the fabulous outfit I have on is an absolute must-have! This is the Get Crabby Hunt prize from MOoH!. This outfit includes a bikini top, a skirt and bikini bottoms (which are worn under my skirt). This is a versatile set because you can wear it as a bikini, a full outfit or separates. The outfit comes with a number of funky patterns you can apply to the separate parts via a colour change HUD, so mixing and matching is possible. Plain classic colours that are included in the hud are red, white, light violet, dark plum and pink. Pattern options include florals, skulls, a dragon pattern (shown here) and some other fun patterns. The second hunt prize I am featuring is a wonderful painting of a pineapple made by Katherine Littlepaws, who owns Katharine Littlepaws Art Gallery. This painting is just fantastic- it looks so realistic, colourful and expressive! The background is fantastic with the collage elements the artist has included. This is a prize on the Get Crabby Hunt.

Katharine Littlepaws Art Gallery also has another painting on a special promotion for only 10 Lindens at their Spoonful of Sugar Festival booth. The get to the exact spot where you can grab the painting, go  here. The item on sale for this low price is the small colourful painting shown in my photo on top of the pineapple piece. Note that this smaller painting is not part of the hunt, so anyone can purchase it and no group is required to buy it for 10L. 100% of the proceeds spent on this painting are given to Doctors Without Borders.

FabFree’s Pumpkin Problem

In the last two-and-a-half years that I have served as a FabFree blogger, I’ve had the opportunity to get to know some absolutely amazing people! Today, I am talking about the FabFree team – and to me that includes all the great bloggers who have passed through the blog over the years. We (the FabFree bloggers) had the funniest inside joke last year about pumpkins. You see, when fall creeps around the corner there are ALOT of pumpkins to get all over the grid for free for about two months. Of course, we must show them to you! As a joke, we would say to each other: “No more pumpkins!!”, because the bloggers had shown off a copious amount of them last fall. It was hilarious to us!  But, the thing is… I never get tired of pumpkins! I love pumpkin soup, pie, bread, and lattes. Most of all, I LOVE to decorate my spaces in my Second Life with fall pumpkins and carved Halloween pumpkins! It’s still such a funny story though, and I wanted to let you in on one of the FabFree bloggers’ inside jokes. Do you think we can top the number of free pumpkins we showed last year on the blog? A Free Pumpkin

And so the free pumpkin season begins! I have a free pumpkin for you! The freebie pumpkin is the one I am holding in both of my photos today. It’s a holdable item and it can also be rezzed. You can see the rezzed version of it on the left side of my photo at the top. This pumpkin is a free gift from -Extra- at the Fall Festival at Malus Park. No group is needed to get it! This event closes on October 1st.

An Autumn Hair Trivia Hunt

Now head over to the Autumn is Coming Event to grab the hairstyle I am showing in my post today. This hair comes from the Treasure Trivia Hunt run by Alli&Ali Designs taking place at Autumn is Coming until September 26th. This style is called “Ava” and it includes a HUD of autumn colors and styling options that lets you make the hair go over your shoulder, behind your back, or blow in the wind. You can see how I wore two of the four styles in my looks above and below! To get the treasure hunt items, first you must find all of the treasure chests hidden around the sim. When you click the ones that are on the treasure hunt, it will ask you a trivia question. When you get the answer right, the chest send you a free hair made by Alli&Ali Designs. In total, there are 17 hairstyles to collect from the Trivia Treasure hunt, which all come with an autumn colours hair colour hud. There are both female and male hairstyles on this hunt. The 18th prize on the treasure trivia hunt is some leaves decor. All of the free hair from Alli&Ali Designs comes from the treasure chests that pop up those trivia questions! For the trivia lovers out there, this is a fun little hunt!

As you walk around the Autumn is Coming Event, you will notice that many of the treasure chests simply send you the items for free, as these are the main event gifts from the other designers. Make sure you read Aline’s post here which shows some of the free gifts you can get from this fun pre-Autumn event!

A Snarky Top

Lastly, the cute top I am wearing is 10L at the Spoonful of Sugar Festival right here. This one is made by ZFG, one of SL’s wittiest creators. It’s very sarcastic. Read what the shirt says in my photo above, it’s funny. Tropical Autumn

I am slowly playing around with introducing a dark autumn vibe in my photos. You all know I love spooky season and it’s starting to creep up on us just a bit! This look is a bit of a mix of summer, autumn, and darkness, so perfect for where we’re at right now at this time of the year.

Just a Spoonful of Sugar For Me…

The Spoonful of Sugar Festival just recently began, as it opened on September 3rd and it closes on September 18th. You only have about 10 more days to check out this great event, and they have a whole lot of stuff to check out!  There’s so many different parts to this event! Most importantly, this event is a benefit/fundraiser, as most of the sales from the event and 100% of the proceeds from hunt (note that it is a paid hunt with a 500L fee) are given to Doctors Without Borders. You can read more about the Spoonful of Sugar Festival on their website here. As you walk around the event, check the tags on the items to see how much of your funds will be donated to the cause.

Today I am showing a 10L outfit from Ari-Pari at the Spoonful of Sugar Festival. Just pay the sugar bowl/coconut drink object 10L in their booth at the event here and the outfit is yours. This 10L item is not part of the hunt and anyone can get it for 10L. The outfit includes a colour hud that lets you change the base of the dress to 5 different tropical patterns, and the ruffle skirt to 6 different colours. 100% of the proceeds for this item goes directly to Doctors Without Borders. If you go around the whole event , each booth has a 10-20L item in each booth in the sugar coconut bowls, where 100% of the proceeds go to the cause. Busted!

So a few of us Fab Free sisters got together yesterday for a walk through a hilly forest to check out some of the beautiful fall foliage that is happening up in some higher elevations.  Just yours truly and group of rowdy redheads! This photo looks like I caught them all in the act of some sort of trouble.  Busted!  hee hee From left to right behind me:

We grabbed this selfie up at the top of the highest point just before we headed back.  The air smelled so sweet and we had a lot of fun.  Caroline even packed a nice lunch for us all, just a really great time!  It’s tough for us all to coordinate our schedules but its awesome when we can get together and do something fun, and of course bring you guys a bunch of freebies and deals while we are at it!  You can see what we are wearing below.
