A bit of sad news this evening, FabFree. Palomma Casanova, owner of The Free Dove, succumbed to a long illness on January 14th. She was a very kind, generous person and will be sorely missed inworld. In the next few days, I’m going to be posting a few items that I picked up at The Free Dove to honour her memory. She would have liked everyone to enjoy the gifts while they are still there.
The plan for the store is that it will just disappear, though there is no set date.
Please join me in thanking Palomma for her service to the community for over 17 years, and for making The Free Dove a really special place.

I’m so very sorry to hear this. We found The Free Dove when we first started SL and it has always been such a nice place, Palomma worked with designers to make sure to offer all of us top quality items. Sending love and prayers to Palomma’s family and friends in this time of sorrow. Fly high dear dove.

This is sad news. A few years ago I was taking pictures in her garden, ‘SUNFLOWER PARK with ANGELICAL MEMORIES, http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Epilais/230/197/100 which includes a touching memorial to her real-life sister, Ingrid.
We talked for some time during my visit and she came over as such a warm, friendly kind-hearted person.
I wonder if there is any chance at all of it being preserved in her memory?

I know there have been a few tickets put in to LL to ask about official memorials. That would be lovely. Hugs.

I’m sorry to hear of Palomma’s passing. I unfortunately never met her, but I have heard of her, and the Free Dove, since my earliest days in SL. Those of you who know me know that is quite something since I have been on SL since October 2004! Please let me know of any memorials.

oh wow, i’m so sorry to hear this! Paloma was someone i met early on when i became a designer. I rented spots at her very creative places, and maintained contact over the years. We sponsored her hunt last summer and LOVED her. She had our cats there for new comers for years and we had planned setting those up again as they accidentally got returned.
she was such a delightful person and so loving and giving. she LOVED welcoming new people and worked so hard on the free dove. i never thought our last long conversation would be our last. and treasure that time. I’m really sad though. she was one of those pillars in the community who gave far more than she took.
her contribution can’t be measured. feeling heartbroken, and grateful.
what a gem of a human she was… it oozed through every interaction. will deeply miss her.

Palomma was a pilar in the Second Life community. Her generosity helped many newcomers and those who were not able to afford to buy articles. I pray for her peace into the eternal.

I’ve been acquainted with Palomma over the years through my avi Fionne, but as often happens in online communities, we rarely know what is going on in someone’s real life. She always had an open heart and kind words for everyone. I hope her family and friends know that she was loved and respected for her kindness and gentleness.

I’m really sad to hear that yet another wonderful designer is living the grid due to illness that they are suffering or a that a family member is suffering. May she be blessed.
