Fashion for Life runs March 12-22, 2011. There are 9 sims and over 190 stores with the goal to raise funds for the American Cancer Society.

I have had my life touched by cancer both through family and friends over the years and recently I have had my own terrifying brush with it on a personal level. A visit to the Doctor with the possiblity of being told that I might have cancer has been one of the most frightening experiences of my life. Thankfully I was clear.. and believe me it gives the air you breathe a fresher feeling the next time you breathe in and realise just how lucky you are to be alive. For those who havent been so fortunate to be given the all clear, the donations that these events and others raise, go towards funding research so that one day they might be able to visit their Doctor and be told that they are in remission or are infact all clear.. and then so that one day, we can cure it all together.

This year’s theme is “Beyond Black and White,” embodying the spirit of cancer survivors everywhere as they find hope rising out of the dark diagnosis of cancer. Each of the nine sims have been decorated in the spirit of this theme which makes it even more striking to wander around. Everything is beautifully arranged and the organisers have really taken lag into account for example, by making sure that textures used are below 512 x 512 to reduce loading times among other things. The sims themselves will also be restarted every day. Lets help others to enjoy this event by going as lag friendly as possible.. that means reducing the prims you wear and removing unnecessary HUD’s and even AO’s if your ego can stand wandering around a little like a duck.. hey its for a good cause!

Here is a list of sims and the stores within each one.. there is a main gatcha area within each sim where some of the designers have put items into donation gatchas for you to play. All proceeds of the gatchs will go to Fashion For Life! The items have been asked to be made transferable so you can swap with your friends! There is also a hunt going on with the prizes costing from 10L to 100L so be sure to hunt around if you can. The hunt item is a little box that is white with the purple, blue and pink American Cancer Society and Fashion For Life logo on it.

So be aware it will be laggy.. be prepared for not being able to get in immediately. I will be blogging items from the event over the next week, both full price donation items and gatcha/hunt items. This is an amazing cause to be involved in and we can all help by making the smallest donation. Please please please go and visit if you can over the next 10 days and spread the word. We all need to fight so one day we WILL beat cancer once and for all.
