The Vordun

The Vordun

Welcome back Fab Free’rs! I’m super excited you’re here. I’m always excited you’re here, but I have a fun post to share with you today that I hope you’ll enjoy. Along with showing off the sassy halter dress Glitter has out as their free Fabulously Free in SL group gift, I wanted to share with you a fun destination I recently discovered. The Vordun is a fully functional art museum and gallery with a well curated collection complete with a detailed audio experience that you can visit and enjoy for free. It was on a whim that I ended up here on a date not too long ago, and it was genuinely a fun and interesting way to spend time with someone in Second Life without going to a club or wading through crowds at an event. Not to mention, The Vordun is a beautifully done venue.

The Vordun Lobby
As you enter the building, The Vordun’s lobby is bright with the skylight overhead. One either side of the room you’ll see headsets you can click to allow the hud to attach so you can enjoy the audio presentation that goes along with your walk through the museum. The hud also attaches automatically as you enter further into the room. There are clear detailed instructions on how to use the hud and hear the information about each of the unique pieces of art in the museum. You can also take a look at the map on the wall to get a feel for how big the building really is.
The Vordun Gift Shop

You can choose to follow through the guided tour, which I’d recommend if you have a little free time and enjoy learning about each of the artworks. Alternately you can of course browse through The Vordun at your leisure. I found the exhibit about block printing was my personal favorite. There’s also a really interesting section about a global postcard project where people send postcards to another random participant anywhere in the world. As you round out your visit to The Vordun, there’s even a cute giftshop where you can buy different gifts or souvenirs to remember your visit. Once you’ve had your fill of the museum, I’d also suggest visiting the grounds. There is shopping, and if you follow the path away from The Vordun, you’ll end up at a cute little frozen yogurt shop where you can sit and have a treat while enjoying the scenery.

Glitter at The Vordun
Lastly, if you’re interested in Pru’s outfit for this post, it does as I mentioned include the most recent Fab Free group gift by Glitter. This beautiful copper/bronze colored halter dress is free to all Fabulously Free in SL group members. Just wear your Fab Free group tag and click the gift vendor at the Glitter main store. If you’re not already a member of the Fabulously Free in SL group, what are you waiting for?! The group is always free to join. This pretty little dress comes in several sizes, and has a hud that allows you to switch the skirt from short to long, choose whether the top is opaque or transparent or “remove” the dress entirely by making it completely transparent.

Delacruz Park

Delacruz Park
Hello and happy weekend Fab Free’rs! I’m so excited about bringing you posts not only about free and fabulously inexpensive items, but places you can go to have fun without spending your linden as well. Delacruz Park is a recent discovery of mine that I believe is one of Second Life’s many lesser-know but amazing locations. It’s a small but fully functioning amusement and adventure park. Most if not all of the rides and attractions are for sale, but you can experience them for free in this beautifully landscaped setting. You can even see the neon blue roller coaster in the background of the above photo! Also, I love that Delacruz Park is all decked out for the fall season.

Delacruz Park Ferris Wheel View
Delacruz Park is family friendly, however it would also be a fun spot for date night or an afternoon with friends. I already mentioned the roller coaster, this second photo was taken from high up in the working Ferris Wheel. If you look closely you can spot a few of the other attractions such as the Hot Air Balloon ride, the must-see mini Stone Hinge setup. I could continue to list the number of things to see and do at Delacruz park, however half the fun is discovering all this beautiful spot has to offer. Also, I’m sure I’d absentmindedly leave something out!

Along with this destination recommendation, Pru is wearing a couple of past group gifts that are still available. If you’re interested in her look, you can check the credits below!
