“Reality leaves a lot to the imagination.” – John Lennon

For many of us, Second Life is where our imaginations go to play and explore. The title of this post, a quote by my favorite Beatle, John Lennon, says a lot about life. It explains a lot about our second lives as well. We explore, we learn, we develop as avatars and (despite what some people believe) we do so as people at the same time. Our imaginations can develop when our real life limitations disappear. Indulging in these opportunities for play can help us become better and more rounded people. This is what I wish for all of us in 2015: A year of imaginations on the rampage and peace and joy spreading across the grid, trickling into all of our other lives. I was thrilled to see a FREE group gift from ASHBURY recently, one that is perfect for my first post of 2015. It’s the Dean Leather Jacket & Shirt, a MESH one piece combo that includes a FITMESH version as well! The jacket has a great leather texture, detailed stitching, and features striking metallic accents in the zippers and buttons. The shirt portion is a white Beatles tee, which will make a lot of people smile when they see it. Musical tastes vary, but The Beatles’ importance in music is impossible to deny. Together, it’s a timeless leather jacket with realistic detailing and an iconic shirt that many people will love. That is one heck of a great FREE group gift, and exactly how I want my blogging year to begin. I want to thank all of you for helping me grow this blog and allowing it to become a source of pride for me and the others who contribute to its success. In March, it will celebrate it’s first birthday, something I look forward to greatly. There is a Lennon anecdote, familiar to many, which I will repeat due to its great personal significance for me. “When I was 5 years old, my mother always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down ‘happy’. They told me I didn’t understand the assignment, and I told them they didn’t understand life.”

Some days all I want to do is sit at home in my favorite band shirt and listen to records with my cat. Finn, that’s my cat, even seems to enjoy when I occasionally sing along! Inevitably when the topic of music comes up, people ask “Who’s your favorite artist?” or “What band do you like best?”. Those questions are impossible for me to answer. I don’t have a favorite, I like them all, some more than others obviously, but even that changes with my mood. Certain genres have a special place in my heart because they are the proverbial soundtrack to my angst-riddled teen years. Mostly, music just speaks to me on so many levels. I can’t imagine life without it.

So, when I came across this sweet little t-shirt showing Yoko and John Lennon on the Marketplace, I had to have it! It isn’t mesh, and it doesn’t come with any appliers, but it’s a cute shirt and perfect for a casual outfit. While browsing through the Marketplace, I also came across this sightly off-the-shoulder cardigan. It’s got a kinda grungy feel to it, and hey, the ’90s are my decade, those were my teen years, so heck yes!! I know, grunge is not always the best fashion forward statement, but every now and then I just have to indulge in a little fashion nostalgia. Band shirt, check, funky sweater, check, now my look could not be complete without some printed tights to go under my denim shorts! Once again, the Marketplace held the answer. These super cute tights are by [BE]lieve, and just inexpensive enough that I couldn’t have been happier with them. I’ll admit, I struggled with not wearing combat boots, or even more grunge, yellow work-boots. Anyone else recall when those were popular, even for girls?! hahaha Still, I refrained from the boots and went with these funky cool wedge shoes with little wing accents. Last but not least, I am completely in love with one of the latest manicure/pedicure sets from Nail Me! For a limited time these uber cute and pretty nail appliers called “Faery Wings” are on sale for $50 lindens. They are fun and colorful, and if you’re like me, you’ll wear them with everything! I’m not altogether certain my outfit matches, but what I do know is that I love it! It reminds me of a fun time in my own life. I would have worn this as a teenager, and if I thought for a minute I could pull it off, I might wear it still! I hope you enjoy it as much as I have.

*Also, just a little tip, HollyHood is having a 50% of sale that ends August 3oth! So if there is a pair of shoes you’ve been wanting, now is the time to get them! Or, if you’re just a shoe addict like I am, it’s a good time to feed the addiction! 😀

Here are the details, Enjoy!
