The Subtle Art of Getting Ready

There’s a certain art to getting ready.  And I don’t mean that the end result requires artful maneuvers (I’m sure it sometimes does), I mean that the entire process can be a ritual that prepares you mentally for the event.   Your environment while you get ready is just as important as what you wear to put you in the right frame of mind, I think.   One will inevitably feel prettier and more relaxed when surrounded by pretty things as you get ready, don’t you think?

The Wrapping

My lovely dress is the latest group gift (to celebrate International Women’s Day) from Safira.  It’s sweet, and pretty and perfect to bring out a bit of feminine energy on any day.  There are plenty of options in the HUD to change the colours of all the parts of the dress, so you can really make it unique and your own.  The Safira group is currently 50L to join, and you’ll find a few other group gifts while you’re there.

The Surroundings

I’m always looking for new art to put up in my living space, and recently I was invited to visit the Hannington Arts Foundation.  It’s always nice to walk around galleries in SL, and this one is really quite nice, featuring art by Sweet Susanowa and Tess Carfagno.  My deal-loving side came out to play as well when I saw that they had placed out several works of art for just 1L each, so I snapped them up – and you can see two of them today in my photo.  The bottom left and top right frames are great for making any space feel warm and inviting, and are sure to start a great conversation with anyone who walks into your home.   You can see a clearer view below.

No Snow Here

It’s never a bad time to do some exploring.  I always find I can lose myself in some pretty sims, and today I thought it had been a little while since I had made my way to my fave beach – Kanaloa.  It’s one of those beaches that welcomes surfers and view-seekers alike, and I’ve always felt warm and happy there.  Which is a good thing in the middle of a snow squall warning in RL!

Run Through the Jungle

Although things have decidedly taken a turn for the chilly in my part of the world (I see those leaves starting to turn!), I do sometimes yearn for a bit of an escape from the upcoming winter months.  So, to the beach I go, with perhaps a little walk through the jungle.  Thank goodness there are no snakes or other creepy crawlies in this sanitized SL jungle!

Feeling Bipolar

There’s a new group gift at Biploar!  This sweet little dress is it, and it has plenty of options depending on your mood.  I went the way of the butterfly, but since Halloween is coming up you’ll also find all sorts of spooky type textures in the HUD too.  The Bipolar group is currently free to join, but word on the street is that it won’t stay that way for long – it will go back to being a paid group on October 5th.  Head on over and pick up this lovely gift!

Lavandula Angustifolia

I’m not sure if I’ve spoken ad nauseum about my deep love of lavender.  I’m sure I have, but that won’t stop me from doing so again.  There’s something enchanting about the thin stalks with tiny purple flowers, and the powdery, herbal scent that always makes me happy.  So, here’s to all things lavender!

Anniversary Fun

How to Unwind

The weekend may be coming to a close (though it’s a long weekend in my neck of the woods…sorry not sorry), and that calls for a bit of a decompress.  Some lucky board stalking plus some fun decorating always makes me chill out a bit and get me ready for whatever lies ahead!

First Some Candy

Candy Kitten is all about the sexy outfits, and they’ve recently updated their lucky boards with a pile of new goodies.  I picked up this top and skirt (in a very appealing holographic type of shade) by joining the group and waiting for my letter to come up.  The Candy Kitten group is a bit pricy at 400L to join, however they currently have 300L in store credit up on the wall, several gifts, and the new lucky boards.  It’s a good group to get in and stay in.

Decoration Now, Come on!

FabFree at Fifteen is slowly winding towards it’s conclusion, sadly.  We’ve got still about a week left before everything goes poof, so make sure you make the rounds and pick up the deals and free gifts.  Today I put together a little space for myself using the gift and 15L item from Satus Inc.  The neon cat lamp is just 15L and can brighten up your space in a hurry.  When you click on the base, you’ll have plenty of colour choices so it can change depending on your mood!  Then, the cork board for photos is just a fun addition to any room.  You can place your own photos in the frames, which is always something that makes me happy.  It’s completely free when you activate your FabFree inworld group tag.  Sweet!  You’ve got until August 6th to make your rounds – don’t let them get away!

Study Break

The stores of the American Bazaar sim have banded together and created an event called Shades of Love to offer some great discounts on some really pretty items.  If you head over to the Seniha outpost, right outside you’ll find this awesome dress (a full fatpack too!) for just 25L.  You can change the panels to all sorts of different colours and patterns.  It’s a lot of fun to play around with.  Don’t wait too long, Shades of Love is only running until tomorrow!  Gooooo!

The Big Dig

My part of the world got a massive winter wallop yesterday.  40 cm of snow fell, which basically means you had snow up to your knees.  The world is still digging out from said snowstorm, and it’s been quite nice to be able to watch the world turn into a snow globe from the comfort of my living room.  It put me in the mood to get bundled up in SL too, and head out into the snow (without the shivers!).

Feeling Cozy

I’m back with more 50L finds from Cozyfest.  I get so excited at these FLF hosted events, because there are really so many awesome deals and gifts.  Today I’m showing you the offerings from Tentacio and Nylon Outfitters.  The Tentacio 50L item is this really cozy and totally cute outfit.  It comes complete with everything you see me wearing – the scarf, the mittens, the cup, the bag… it’s all one perfectly sculpted look that I am soooo into.  It doesn’t actually say what it is sized for, but it worked perfectly with my Maitreya body.  It comes with an HUD to change the different parts’ colours too.  They have a few other items at their stand as well.   You’ll have to use an alpha to make your arms and hands disappear so that this outfit works.  The hat and hair is an excellent cold weather option courtesy of Nylon Outfitters.  Makes me feel cozy just looking at it!  50L is a great deal for a fun every day winter look.   Cozyfest is running until February 4th, so you’ve still got time if you haven’t visited yet.
