Heya faboos!

Been hearing some horrible stories about war crimes being committed by the Russian armies and it just saddens me so much, how cruel we humans can be to one another.  We are supposed to be the most intelligent advanced species on the planet, but tell me, what other species is cruel to one another? Makes me question how intelligent and advanced we truly are.  So today I have donned my peace hat and am holding a light up in prayer, hoping for these atrocities to end.  It is the innocent who suffer in a war, and that is so wrong.

Meanwhile I’ve been working on this a bit longer than I would like, I’ve been under the weather but spent much of the last few days snuggled with the little man (Rocky, my Chi) and sleeping/watching tv and I have a bit more energy so I am tackling this again.

Another Year Over, A New Ones Just Begun…

I can’t believe that another year has gone by.  And covid is still as prevalent as it was when it started.  Ugh.  I hope 2022 will be the year we all say enough already and do whatever has to be done to take our lives back from this virus!

I know things will never be the same as they were pre-covid, but maybe it has brought some positive into our lives too.  Like appreciating day to day things we took for granted, friends, family, hugs, shopping!  Even appreciating just getting up in the morning and feeling *good*.  Perhaps it came to teach us to shift our perspective and be grateful for all the little wonderful things, as simple as waking up to a new day (some people don’t, and one day, you won’t either).

It makes me think of one of my favorite movies Dead Poets Society.  Mr. Keating (Robin Williams) tells his class to seize the day, make your life extraordinary while you can.  The powerful play goes on and YOU get to contribute a verse.  What will your verse be?  Let 2022 be the year we all live in state of gratitude, seizing the day with those we love and contributing our powerful verse.  What legacy do you hope your life will create?

Where was I?

I got a bit sidetracked there.  The turning of a new year always makes my thoughts get deeper than they normally are (and that’s saying something!!!).

A New Year Right Around the Corner

Fields of Love

The Warmth of Love

My grandmother had a deep, pure love for daisies and it grew on me as I sprouted. The daisy is something you can find anywhere in the right seasons, and I could roll around in fields of them remembering her loving embrace as she laughed at something silly I just did as a child. She was one of the warmest, thoughtful, honest, blunt women I had the honor of knowing. The smell of her perfume (Chanel no5) would linger on you long after her visit ended, her laugh still makes me smile even in my saddest moments.

And if I could lay in a field of love for one hour with her I would talk to her about everything and anything until she magically poofed back to heaven to be with her husband. So this is why I named it Field of Love, for her, for her memory, for her love of daisies, and my love for her.

Learn how to be you in time

It’s easy… so they say. However, there are times where self-doubt comes flooding in and nothing seems to go perfectly. On these days I throw the planner out the window and give the good ole “NYC Salute” to those feelings. Today is 100% a long soak in a hot tub, some wine, and loads of bubbles to pop to help alleviate my sorrow.

It’s not always easy to escape yourself and go back to being the bubble-tastic superwoman you were before. However, keeping yourself happy is one daily goal everyone should take, by taking at least 5 minutes a day to do something that makes YOU happy will shed a tiny light on every dark day.

What’s one thing you do for yourself every day?

I have a cool lil story about that song, there was a radio station that was changing their format in ’03 (god I feel old) in Las Vegas, NV and during the time they played “Welcome to the Jungle” on non-stop repeat. At any point in the day during my 4-month stay, that song was on, my friend and I would jam to it like we just escaped from the rubber room.
