No Bad Apples Here

Hi there, Fabulous Readers!  The air was crisp and clean and I decided to pay a visit to an orchard this afternoon.  Since it was a bit on the chilly side, I’m glad I had a new jeans jacket and sweater to keep me warm! I picked them up for just one Linden dollar as a hunt prize.  Later, I’m going to bake a homemade apple pie.  The only thing missing is some vanilla ice cream to put on top.  Maybe you have some?  I’ll gladly share the pie. 🙂

When in Doubt, Wear Denim

In my last post, I talked about the Hunt on Haunted Hill, and I have another budget-friendly item from the event to show you today.  Over at The Sissy Bar, if you locate the small ghost lurking around the sim, you can add this casual combo to your SL wardrobe.  In a soft, washed denim hue, the jacket features three-quarter-length sleeves, a cropped fit, and a mischievous critter patch on each shoulder.  The black sweater, with a ribbed collar and sleeves, is built-in so you don’t have to worry about your top poking through the jacket.  Isn’t it annoying when that happens in world?  Versions for classic avatars as well as common mesh body styles are included in the folder.  The hunt runs through October 31st.

Soon, It Will Be Slothoween!

Hello there, Fab Free! With the new month, we have a bunch of hunts that got started, and I eagerly hit the trail of The Boo Bunny Hunt this week. My favorite prize of all is this adorable tank top. It makes me smile every time I see it, and I picked it up for just a small fee (plus a bit of time spent searching).

Over at satus Inc., I found these Halloween Pumpkin Earrings that were the perfect accessory for my outfit as a free group gift. The Colors are a Changin’

Hello Fabulous Readers!  I am popping in with a quick post to share my latest hunt prize and a budget-friendly crop top with you.  I know, I know, the leaves are changing, but I can’t bring myself to give up my summer tops just yet.

Don’t Forget to Be Owlsome

First, I just had to tell you about these adorable baubles from Loordes of London.  The Republican Redundancy earrings are part of the Changing of Colors Hunt 5 and feature shimmering gold accented with brown eyes and wing spots.  All you’ll need to do to add them to your inventory is to locate the hunt object, an orange leaf, hidden somewhere in the shop, then pay the tiny prize fee.  There are 25 stops along the hunt trail, and each item costs just one Linden dollar.  You have until September 30th to do some sleuthing of your own.

She’s a Rebel

Looking for a Warm Summer Breeze

Hello Fabulouses!  It’s good to be back home after camping.  It was so, so cold there, and the pupster and I just had to find some summer time temperatures on SL when we got back.  It actually snowed a bit on Memorial Day.  Now for Love’s neck of the woods, that might not be so unusual, but for our part of the world, that is highly unlikely!  Fortunately, the Lighthouse Oasis sim had just what we needed, and Ambient Fashion provided the cutest summery shirt for our ocean side adventure.  I picked up this halter top as a hunt prize in the Red Diaries Hunt for just 1 Linden dollar.

Lovely Lavender

In addition to coming in one of my favorite colors, the Slaren Halter also features an unusual component created from four black bands connecting the shoulder strap to the neckline.  Black rimmed grommets ensure the cords stay securely fastened.  The right shoulder and the strap around the back of the neck are more traditional, so I decided to pull my hair back to show off the unique left side.  A figure-hugging fit and realistic fabric texture round out the shirt.  The designer thoughtfully included versions for classic as well as mesh body avatars inside the hunt folder, so there’s something for everyone in the package.  All you have to do to add a copy to your inventory is locate the hunt object, which is a book with a Red Shoe Diaries cover, and pay the 1 Linden dollar fee.

A Boho Babe

Why Walk If You Can Dance?

Hello Fabulouses!  I hope your week got off to a terrific start yesterday.  I’m happy to be able to tell you that Ripley made it through his surgery and is back home resting and recovering.  He surprised the vet tech by chewing through his first catheter – silly, spunky boy!  Right now, after he was shaved for his ultrasound last week, and again yesterday on his two front legs and around his incision, he looks a bit worse for wear, but I am grateful to have him back home.  We will know more in the next week or so if the surgery was successful.  Thank you so much for your kind words of support.  They touched my heart.

Since I had some extra time while hanging out with my exhausted pal, I was able to discover some gifts that I am excited to share with you.  One is this gorgeous dress, which I picked up as a free Women’s Day gift, and the other is a sultry dance animation that cost just one little Linden dollar.  Even though I’m nowhere near as skilled as Love with her editing skills, I had fun making a little video clip to showcase the dance moves, and I hope you enjoy it!

First, The Dress

With its high neckline and long sleeves, you might think the Alice Dress would be on the “plain Jane” side, but its sexy slit, golden eyelets and tied lacing add spice and intrigue.  I love the way this little number clings to your curves and dips dramatically low in the back.  The fabric itself contains subtle ribbing and realistic folds.  The hemline falls just to the upper thigh, so you might need to make strategic use of the alpha layer on your mesh body while out and about.  Although I opted for black, there is also a maroon version tucked inside the gift folder that is just as appealing.  To pick up a copy of this frock for yourself, teleport over to the Hilly Haalan shop, activate the Hilly Haalan Fashions tag, and tap the vendor.

Shake Shake, Shake Shake

Hello there FabFree!  I have no idea when it happened, but there are some really cool free mesh starter avatars in your inventory!  Grace Selene sent me a message earlier to tell me about them, and so I recruited her to help me show off a couple of them, along with a playful 1L dance animation by Move! Animations.

Second Life is offering plenty to choose from for guys and girls, young and old –  whether you want a normal avatar or something a little different.  There are retro avatars, medieval for roleplay, fantasy characters, vampires, wolfmen, demons, and even zombies. Below is just a snapshot of a random selection available.  Starter avatars have come a long way if you ask me!

Here’s how to easily find them and change them in firestorm…

1. Click on “avatar” at the top left hand corner of your screen.
2. Click on”toolbar buttons”.
3. Select “avatars” and drag it down to your toolbar.
4. Click on the avatar tool button you just created and select your poison.  (note…  this will replace your avatar)

Now to see them inworld…

Tackling Two Resolutions at Once

Hello there Fab Free!  I’ve been on the lookout for wintry menswear items to share with you all seeing as how that’s one of my New Year’s resolutions.  Ripley told me about this awesome free denim jacket and hoodie and wouldn’t you know it?  A certain female blogger beat me to it!  This time, when I heard about the fantastic clearance sale going on over at Gabriel, I didn’t give her a chance to see if any of the dollarbies would fit her avatar.  I sent her on a long walk with the pupster, and headed over to the shop myself to see what I could pick up.

Fisherman’s Knit Sweater

Another of my goals for 2019 is to do  more fishing with (or without) man’s best friend.  I’m still not so sure at all that Ripley is man’s best friend.  First, he abandoned me to run off for an almost empty box of Ripley snacks, then he went and told Kat about MY denim jacket/hoodie.  Anyway, I might not have a fishing pal, but I certainly have a thick, high neck sweater to ward off watery breezes.  I really like the olive green and chunky knit on the sweater I scooped up at the Gabriel Clearance Sale.  It set me back just one Linden dollar and is sure to become a chilly weather fave.  Although the package didn’t include versions for mesh bodies, by adjusting the alpha layer on my Slink Physique body, I had no problem finding the right size for me.

Olive Chinos

While grabbing the High Neck Sweater, I spotted a pair of olive Chinos out of the corner of my eye, and thought they’d be a perfect match for my new fishing top.  Once again, there was no version for mesh avatars in the package, but since these pants were on sale for just 1 Linden dollar, I decided to give them a go.  As you can tell from my photo, after adjusting the alpha layer on my mesh body, they worked out swimmingly.  Ugh, maybe I should have chosen a different descriptor.  Who wants to think of swimming when you are going fishing?  I’ll just test my luck, I guess. 😉

What Fishing Trip Would Be Complete Without Boat Shoes?

The answer would be not many.  Gabriel had me covered, again for just a 1 Linden dollar investment.  At the Clearance Sale, you can pick up this handy set of footwear in multiple hues, all for just 1 Linden dollar each.  I’m wearing the Camel colored set, but you can also pick up similar models in blue, red and red brown shades.  They were not designed for mesh body feet, but since they could be repositioned, I was easily able to get them to fit just right, without having to use the alpha layer.
