A Summer Hideaway

Happy weekend, fabulous readers! I was too lazy to even get my virtual self dressed today, so I thought I would share a few home and garden freebies instead.

Shelter Me

First off is this lovely Garden Shelter, which is a group gift from KraftWork. It’s a dark wood on the inside, and it looks like it was carved into a rock on the backside. The whole thing clocks in at just 9 LI. The 3 lights on the back wall are included.

Next is the cozy bench. DMG set out this Outdoor Seating as their June group gift. At 5 LI, it includes animations for singles as well as cuddles.

The pretty planters you see here are the latest group gift from Shutter Field. The Tuscan Planters come in a tall version (on the left) and a short version (on the right). Both are 2 LI each.

Because They Were There

I wasn’t looking for them, but I managed to pick up a few extra gifts while I was out:

• See the little bird on the arm of the Outdoor Seating (if not, you can click the photo to make it bigger). He’s a Spring Blue Jay and can be found as a free gift at La Galleria. This cutie is just 1 LI and has an “intermittent sound script” with touch for on/off. Note: there are quite a few other gifts at this store, so be sure to take a look around.
• The Plaster Candles on the table are a free gift at Apple Fall. They are 2 LI and you can turn the flame on and off with a touch.
• Last but not least are the Macarons in a Box on the table. These are also a free gift at Apple Fall and are just 1 LI. Aline showed them in her post HERE, but they might not have been a free gift at the time. Be sure to grab them NOW while they’re free!

Speaking of 80’s Rock bands… while Aline and Love were have a conversation about Whitesnake videos, I was tending bar at Thames River Valley, and 80’s music just happened to be on the radio. Coincidence huh? I like the 80’s bands, reminds me of my childhood. Yeah, I’m old.

Old but…

It didn’t require a group space at all. I just had to subscribe to information and the gift was sent to me free. A win-win in my book. Two shirts great shirts for one stop for the day. This one is also an applier shirt in Omega and Slink appliers.

Another set of bracelets.

I showed you the free Chop Zuey Castory bracelets in blue in my post [here]. But I happen to be a member of the Chop Zuey group and had also picked them up in black and so put them on for this post. They are a great look I think! The Chop Zuey group has a one-time fee of 350 linden, but the creator puts out frequent and generous men’s and women’s gifts, making it well worth the fee if you stay in the group.

Throwback Thursday: I’ve Lost My Head!

Going Old School

I’m not wearing my mesh head today, and I’m feeling like a bit of a “throwback.” 😉

But it’s all for a good reason: Glam Affair is having a retirement sale on their older system skins, Angelica, Cleo, Katra, and Rosa. Full-line system skins have been marked down from 999L to 399L for single makeups, and fatpacks are just 1200L per skin tone.

Also on sale are Nyam Nyam mouth appliers, Slink Visage appliers, and special edition/event system skins, which are only 100L each!

As Love mentioned, Designer Circle is celebrating its 6th anniversary and 150th round this month. Many of the participating designers have set out some fantastic gifts, all of which are free or just 1L, with no group join required.

The Falling Leaves Clutch is only 25L, which is a great deal just for one color, but… you also get blue, brown, and red in the box – woohoo! ❤

The Barber Shop

A new Sweater.

Byrne has out this great new FREE sweater as their group gift (the group is FREE to join) and you can pick it up before heading off for more winter travels. The gift package includes all the standard sizes, a good quality alpha, and the men’s sweater in black or gold. It’s quite stylish. And style was what was what seemed appropriate as I traveled to “The Village” for my afternoon jaunt.

It was snowing.

It was snowing so I ducked into a little barber shop. It got me remembering that first haircut we all invariably get as children — you know the one… where you cry and your mother takes a picture of the entire traumatic event? It seems, though, that haircuts or at least hairstyles seem to be milestones for changes in our lives.

The importance of a haircut.

I ran across this quote on google while exploring this little barbershop and it made me reflect a moment, because I have to think that the quote (if Coco Chanel did indeed say it) doesn’t only apply to women. A lot of men get life changing haircuts as well.

Many important milestones come with trips to the salon or at least personal stylings —  such as dances or weddings… and I’m sure the fellas (not just the ladies) get shimmied up with a fresh haircut too. In some cultures the cutting of hair is deeply spiritual, so I took this picture of myself at this quaint little Barber Shop in my brand new Freebies (and I’ve got one more to tell you about) and thought about the changes that are in store for Astrid and I as the new year approaches. We will certainly have some stories to tell you.

The Beaded Bracelet

Did you catch the fancy new bracelet I was sporting? That’s courtesy of Cold Ash, and is their November L’Homme Magazine reader’s gift. The L’Homme Magazine group is Free to join and you can pick up many free gifts from many stores across the grid, including this free bracelet which comes in a left or right version as well as a standard or TMP version. It is black with a couple of brown beads on it to make it extra versatile. And it’s a nice touch to a classic outfit. Every gentleman needs a little extra now and then.

I won’t be getting my hair cut today. But I enjoyed my wander around this shop. There are changes in store for Astrid and I in real life. All good stuff. And we’re excited about sharing our adventures here… and there… with all of you.

Opening Doors

The Doors.

Astrid got this crazy idea that we are going to be adventuring… and Kathryn helped her out with a link to this Flickr Group where you can look at pictures of various sims. It’s required to post the slurl in the description, so you can be sure to find the destination if you want to check it out for yourself. One of the photos caught my eye, and I landed on Baja Bay.

The original photo had been of a beach house with seaguls…. but I ended up gravitating toward a set of doors on the beach. I’m reminded of a song by The Doors called “Land Ho.”

Maybe that’s just the thing. I’ve been a little cooped up lately and I’m ready to open doors. These four got me as excited is Astrid about what lay ahead.

Tip Your Hat to Style

I really have to tip my hat to the creators who are participating in the Menstuff Hunt. The prizes this round are outstanding as usual. I ran across a new-to-me designer – Hot Fuss – and was pleased to come away with two items – not only the hunt gift, but also a lucky letter chair gift.

The Hat.

If you stop by Hot Fuss, you’ll be able to pick up this men’s fedora as part of their contribution to the Menstuff Hunt. It’s an excellent design in a fedora style and yours for only 1L and a little hunting time. It’s sure to add class and style to most any outfit. I didn’t have any trouble adjusting it to fit my head, and it looked great over the top of my usual hairbase.

The Sweater.

While I was at Hot Fuss, I noticed they had out two lucky letter chairs. No group is required for either and they are completely FREE. One is for the ladies, but the other is for us menfolk. My letter came up while I was hunting down my hat and I was able to pick up this Tristan sweater in all the standard mesh sizes. It even includes a color change hud with three color choices. I’m showing you the fawn color, as that matched the hat, but it also included a really nice navy and a coal shades all in this traditional diamond print.

The cut, flow, and fit of the mesh shirt is excellent, and it would be well worth checking to see if your letter would come up. The chair was on a short timer, so your wait might not be too long.

The Necklace.

It never hurts to add a final touch to a classic outfit. I made a stop by etham to see what they had as their Menstuff Hunt prize and was pleased to discover a finely crafted Chainmail Cross as the gift. It is a FREE gift. Gotta Love Events…

Kathryn pointed me toward the Boho Culture Fair, and said that there were gifts to be had. These events are always a fantastic place to pick up gifts, but sometimes it can be hard to find items for us menfolk at them. I was pleasantly surprised when she pointed me in the direction of the Trashed booth, which had out a gift for both women AND men.

You’re Not the Costume Type?

Personally I love the Fall season as well as Halloween, but dressing up in a costume is just not on my agenda. So when I saw the 1L gift from Trashed for men, I was really thrilled. Trashed has out this skull decorated shirt. It is one piece mesh but has the appearance of being a long sleeve white t-shirt with a short sleeve black t-shirt overlay. The great thing about it is that it you’ll be able to wear it after Halloween too, since it could easily pass as “Biker” or “Gothic” with no problem.

Never Too Tired

The Men Only Hunt has proven lucrative this month, with lots of amazing gifts for us menfolk to fill out our inventories. I opted for a new hairstyle today, which I picked up from Speakeasy. Fall Ready

With fall in full swing, I decided to update my fall wardrobe with some clothes for cooler weather… as well as go pumpkin patch hunting. I think I found both the perfect pumpkin as well as the perfect sweater.

My sweater is completely FREE courtesy of Breath and the Men Only Hunt. Just head over to Breath and hunt down that iconic beer symbol and buy it for 0L.
