The Subtle Art of Getting Ready

There’s a certain art to getting ready.  And I don’t mean that the end result requires artful maneuvers (I’m sure it sometimes does), I mean that the entire process can be a ritual that prepares you mentally for the event.   Your environment while you get ready is just as important as what you wear to put you in the right frame of mind, I think.   One will inevitably feel prettier and more relaxed when surrounded by pretty things as you get ready, don’t you think?

The Wrapping

My lovely dress is the latest group gift (to celebrate International Women’s Day) from Safira.  It’s sweet, and pretty and perfect to bring out a bit of feminine energy on any day.  There are plenty of options in the HUD to change the colours of all the parts of the dress, so you can really make it unique and your own.  The Safira group is currently 50L to join, and you’ll find a few other group gifts while you’re there.

The Surroundings

I’m always looking for new art to put up in my living space, and recently I was invited to visit the Hannington Arts Foundation.  It’s always nice to walk around galleries in SL, and this one is really quite nice, featuring art by Sweet Susanowa and Tess Carfagno.  My deal-loving side came out to play as well when I saw that they had placed out several works of art for just 1L each, so I snapped them up – and you can see two of them today in my photo.  The bottom left and top right frames are great for making any space feel warm and inviting, and are sure to start a great conversation with anyone who walks into your home.   You can see a clearer view below.

Decor Fever

Hey FabFree! I have some pretty free decor gifts to share tonight, as well as a modern concrete house for only 75L. I’ll tell you all the details on how to get these great items!

Breakfast, Moodboards & Blankies

First, I found a whole bunch of gifts at Nutmeg. You just need to join the free “Reka Updates” group to get them all. Click the “join group” sign and it will send the correct group joiner invite. All of the group gifts are near the group joiner. I am showing the following group gifts in my post tonight:

• The “Breakfast in Bed” gift is a delicious board of coffee, eggs, cream, sugar cubes, roses & pears. This is one of Nutmeg‘s newer gifts. It’s so exquisitely detailed and romantic.
• The “Framed Paintings” gift includes two pretty framed paintings of flowers. This is a new gift as well, and perfect for stacking against walls.
• I also included one older gift in my scene. Nutmeg has a pack of all past group gifts from 2020-2022 available as well. In that big box of free past group gifts, I found a really cute gift called “Moodboard”. The moodboard is a large clipboard with pictures and cute sayings on it. It’s super adorable. A Concrete House…

The background of my scene is a “Modern Concrete House”, which is currently on sale for only 75 lindens.

A Place of My Own

There’s nothing better than a little corner of the world you can retire to when things get overwhelming.  Plus, it’s just so much fun to build these kind of places in SL, isn’t it?  I’ve got some time-sensitive stuff for you today, so let’s hop right in!

Happy Birthday!

Noveny is celebrating their 2nd anniversary in grand fashion this weekend.  You have to be quick though, because it’s only happening today and tomorrow!  There are lots of fun new things to get stuck in to.  I was particularly enamoured with the little hunt they have going on.  It’s free for everyone, and there are three really nice items: The two hanging shelves you see on the wall, plus the lovely wooden frame that you can put your own photos in.  The hunt object you’re looking for is a wooden crate.  While you’re there, you should also join the group (it’s just 30L) and you can grab a 300L in store credit to buy anything you like.  I just had to have this celestial printed tapestry that’s hanging over the fireplace.  It cost me just 200L, leaving me 100 to buy something else pretty.  Be aware that you’ve got until the 31st to spend the credits.  Noveny has some really beautiful items, this is is not to be missed!

Float On

You guys, I bought 3 new hairstyles this weekend. THREE! Somebody HELP! But they were all on sale, and I balanced them out with looooots of free things…at least that’s what I tell myself.

Swinging

One of the free things in evidence is this super cute swing, which is one of the new group gift from Reka Nutmeg. It contains a few poses each for girls, guys, and even a cuddle. Just simple, sweet cuteness. You can get it for free by joining the free Reka group and going to grab it in the store with the other free group gifts. I had forgotten how many top quality gifts this creator has out. There are some other really lovely things to grab up for free while you’re there!

Gloom

I popped over to Abstrakt to have a look for myself after I saw Aline’s post about the gifts there. You can see her post HERE, for all of the event details. I absolutely fell in love with this skin from Gloom. It’s a free gift at Abstrakt that you can pick up at Gloom’s booth after joining the free event group. It comes in a nice variety of shades (I’m wearing the beige) and with or without brows. The thing that gets me about Gloom skins is the little imperfections, like the slight shading under the eyes. It’s just done so well and gives it a touch of realism that makes me feel things. You’re probably thinking, “Oh my gosh, she’s getting all gushy about undereye bags” but seriously it’s just so very natural and pretty. Maybe it’s not the hair addiction that I need help for, after all…

New Year Brunch

Hiya, New Year’s Day is a time of traditions and resolutions. LOL, like most folks who make those New Year’s resolutions mine are pretty much done for by March. However, the traditions seem to stay year after year.

Sneaking A Taste

Until my 2 of my 3 sons had married, and the last one left home, we had a tradition, my middle son is a New Year’s baby, so every year at midnight we would ring in the new year with birthday cake, and a very tiny glass of champagne. New Years Day I would be up with the sun spending my day in the kitchen cooking a brunch feast for those always hungry boys, while they spent the day in front of the tv watching football games. Jacx seemed to think it was a pretty fair idea to recreate a new year feast while modeling Meander/Me Bonfire Top. This wonderfully detailed cropped sweater is a free group gift. Lemania Indigo owner and creator of Meander/Me is known for using beautiful textures on all her creations. And body sizes oh my goodness there are a lot. Hiya, It has certainly been an event-filled, super busy, week already. With no rest for the wicked so they say. Jacx must have been really wicked 😛

Got A Case Of Those Moving Day Blues

Back on the October 9th post, was telling you all about how I had just bought a new skybox, to take my fall show to the air here. Since Oct. 8th I have bought a total of 3 new skyboxes. LOL. What can I say, keep finding them on sale? It’s not that I don’t love my house, I do. But it’s pretty well set, and I do so love to decorate. So here is poor Jacx cramming a chocolate candy bar (large-sized you notice) and some sugary sweet caramel, whipped cream coffee drink, to keep the energy up for this move. Sad But True Tale

My beloved bright orange couch, could not co-exist with my overly formal living room. After decorating part of the living room shown here, Had to put it back the way it was, and take my fall show on the road, or in the case to the air. After finding a cozy skybox, I realized what was needed. Some new furniture, just as the need was great Trompe Loeil saved me. Cory Edo owner and creator of Trompe Loeil is extremely generous, putting out free items with no group needed.  Breathe In The Crisp Fall

All seasons have different scents, my personal fav is fall, the windows are open letting in the breeze. Baking going on in the kitchen, apple crisp, and pumpkin pies and bread, filling the air. LOL, makes me hungry for those goodies just thinking about it. However the Breathe in this context is really about shoes, The Breathe group is still currently free to join.
