Somedays our worlds get a little gray. For a variety of reasons we all have struggles and hard times. And sometimes all we need is for someone to bring a little color and sunshine to our life. I’m grateful for the people in my life that have done and continue to do that for me!

Alice Klinger of Alli&Ali Designs releases the most beautiful, extensive list of hair texture options I have ever seen! Seriously, the choices are endless and sure to fit any mood you are in. The group gifts she offers give you a taste of those options and the hair I’m showing you today is Beth, the current (through August) FabFree gift from Alli&Ali. Hey, Fab Free! I like making new avatars/looks, and I made this one in the spirit of Billie Eyelish with the green and black hairsyle. Do you think it looks like her? It kinda succeeded but I think she ended up having her own unique look… this new avatar I created is super cute either way.

Let’s get down to the details which are a beautiful 1 L mesh body and this great free sweater!

Sweet’s Ruth Mesh Body

As many of you know, I have been working on the Fab Free Mesh body and Head Listing. I recently made a few updates to the page so you may want to look at some of the new bodies I posted. I decided to show off a body from that list, which is one of Ruth mesh bodies. This one is Sweet’s Ruth. Isn’t the body gorgeous? It fits many Maitreya clothes and shoes, although you will need to use the alpha hud to make many of the clothes fit. To use the alpha version of the body, just open up the box included in the folder that has the alpha HUD! This body is BOM and works with all BOM skins and other products. The Sweet’s Ruth mesh body costs only 1 L on the marketplace.

Here are some more details about the body:

Fits: Maitreya clothes and feet (flat, mid, and high) for the most part, with the use of the alpha hud provided.
Omega/Bakes on Mesh (BOM)?  This body is BOM only.
Bento? Yes.
Other Notes: Includes mesh nails with a nail colour hud. There is no mesh head included with this body.

You may also want to be aware of the following known issues about the body that the creator makes a note of:

“- A small glitch can appear between neck and head
(usually on high ground)
– A small glitch can appear with feet and hands in extreme poses.
– Medium High feet often need an alpha to fit Maitreya Shoes (provided!)
– Older skins with painted on nails will not match mesh feet. Use a nailfix! (provided!)”

Just as a side note, I used the Ariel head from LOGO to create this avatar. The LOGO group is free to join and every month in 2021 they are going to sell an older head of every month to group members for only 300L. In order to use the head, you need the 3.1 version LOGO customization hud. I was pleased to hear about this sale and grabbed the Ariel head up for that low price. The head is BOM compatible. There is NO mesh head included with the Sweet’s Ruth body, so you will need to use another mesh head of your own with it or get one of the mesh heads listed on the Fab Free Mesh body and Head Listing to complete a mesh look. Alternatively, you can wear the Sweet’s Ruth body with a classic system head if you prefer.

Beatrix

Another item I am showcasing today is the Beatrix Sweater Dress, which you can grab at the zOOm Mainstore. I found this gift by using the Maitreya Gifts, Sales & News group, and they have many gifts that were available for free during the Christmas train event this group ran over the holidays. Technically, the event ended around Christmas time, but a lot of designers still have their gifts out at their store. You can look at the gifts using this page, although some of them may not be available still. It’s worth a look though because I found that quite a few of the gifts are still out! I had my eye on this lovely sweater by zOOm on the list and to my delight, it was still available! Simply join the Maitreya Gifts, Sales & News (MSGN) group for free and the sweater is yours. zOOm has 2 free MSGN gifts out at the moment so grab them while you’re there!

All I want for Christmas is… some free mesh bodies and heads!

It’s the most wonderful time of the year…

Advent is my favourite time of the year in Second Life. In fact, I go a bit crazy with it! This year has been no letdown, and the amazing list compiled at Fab Free this year was incredible! Time to give our amazing blog organizer Aline a round of applause. *claps*. Make sure you check out those calendars and see if any of the past gifts are available before the 24th of December. Advent Calendar at Altamura

Today I will be sharing the incredible advent gifts by Altamura this year. The Altamura group is currently free to join for a limited time, which will give you access to their 12 days of Christmas gifts, sitting under the tree at the store, and two free mesh avatars. Joining the group will also give you access to group gifts that are located around the store (you have to search for them in each section of the store), and there is also a free male mesh head at the back of the store which is a current group gift.

Altamura is known for gifting free, full avatars that include a mesh body and head that are (usually) joined together. This advent, they are gifting two full mesh body and head combos for men and women. These bodies are fully BOM and bento and they can be used out of the box with few limitations. My friend Remus and I are showing off the full avatars above. They are beautiful! This is perfect if you need a new avatar or look for free. In each box, a full mesh head and body are included. The head and body are one piece so you cannot wear another head or body with each piece. Altamura bodies fit Altamura clothes, and you can often get the female avatar to fit other brands like Maitreya or Slink with the aid of alphas. I have heard that the male body fits Adam sized clothing nicely, but I have not tested that out. You will need to use alphas (see below) to wear non-Altamura clothes with these bodies. Altamura has a list of all the companies that make Altamura-sized clothing which is handy if you need help finding clothing for your new body.

One thing that’s important to know about these gift bodies is that they are fully BOM and because of this, they do not include a body hud. So, to add makeups, skins, and tattoos you must use BOM products. You can even use BOM eyes and nails. Any system eyes or nails will work with these bodies. As there is no body hud, you must use add alphas manually to your outfits. In order to alpha out sections of the body,  you will need a set of alphas (like the ones that are used when you have a classic avatar). I found two stores that have a good set of alphas out for free with no group join required:

1. The first free alpha sets kit is at Little Black Dress. Just click the bag on the ground and the alphas are yours.
2. Slink also has a set of free alphas out at their main store. Click the board that says “extra alpha layers”.

For the Ladies…

The free female body on offer is called “Movin’ On” and she is gorgeous. The ad below pictures what her head looks like up close. A truly beautiful avatar.

In addition to giving out these wonderful bodies, there are more gifts under the Christmas tree at Altamura. The red BOM shirt I am wearing underneath my sweater and the sparkly heels are two of those free gifts. The heels are fitted for Altamura, Maitreya, and Slink bodies.

Goodies for the Guys!

I pulled in my friend Remus for the post today. Remus is sporting the Take My Way male avatar, which is also free. He is wearing 3 other free advent gifts from Altamura’s calendar, including the sweater and the scarf. The sweater is sized for Altamura bodies only and the scarf will fit any avatar. The jeans he is wearing are BOM/system pants which can be found for free in everyone’s library. Details are listed in the credits below.

Another awesome freebie that’s out for the guys at Altamura right now is the Akakor Mesh head. I am not sure how long this head will be available for free, so I wanted to mention it for all the guys out there. This head is BOM and Omega compatible and it can be worn with any other mesh body! Normally, Altamura heads go for 3-4, 000 L so this is a great deal! Snatch it up which you can, boys!

Free Unisex Hair!

The last thing I wanted to mention is the gifts at the Firestorm Major Event. Remus is wearing the free unisex Jaime hairstyle by Firelight which is currently free to get at the event. This hair can be worn on a male or female avatar and it is completely free, no group join required. This freebie is out for a limited time, and there is also a free arctic ferret, and a free black panther you can grab at the event. I can not find when this event ends, but it will be very soon because this is a holiday-themed event. Go while you still can to get the gifts there.

Enticing Polka Dots Paired with Spooktacular Shoes

 

Greetings, Fabulous Readers!  I hope you are having a relaxing weekend.  After recovering from his traumatic experience at the V.E.T. last week, Ripley quickly bounced back and soon headed off, nose to the ground.  With nary a step off target, he led me directly to Entice and didn’t stop until he sat in front of the Midnight Mania board.  After looking up at the polka dot dress, then back at me, Ripley whined, then tapped the board with his paw.  I bet you know by now, I’ve learned it’s best to follow my pup where ever he takes me.  Sure enough, Rip’s intuition was right on the money.  When I logged in to SL the next day, I saw the inventory offer from Entice and set straight to opening the box and pulling out the Side to Side dress.

With its bright, circular pops of color splashed across a black background, and a red belt to accentuate the waist, this cheery dress offers a fun addition to your SL wardrobe and won’t put even the slightest ding in your budget.  The Midnight Mania board does require you to join the Entice group, but it’s free to join, and there are a bunch of lucky boards and gifts just waiting for members to claim.  On our way out, Ripley befriended this adorable Corgie in a lobster outfit and I had to take a quick snapshot of the little guy.  Isn’t he cute?

In search of the perfect accessories, the pupster and I journeyed over to Cae, one of my favorite jewelry stores.  As we arrived, I noticed the glowing Gacha Guardian Rune Stone right away.  Cae has a free charm bracelet set out and you can try your luck on the Gacha board for a plethora of Trick or Treat charms for 75L a turn.  From an adorable pumpkin, a spooky ghost, a witch hat, a spider, and my favorite, the silver cat (well, my name is Kat :P), these charms all magically attach to the free bracelet with the included HUD.  You can opt to wear Cae’s bracelet as a simple chain, snap on a single charm, or add as many as you like.  Now, I have to admit, Gacha machines are my nemesis and Ripley’s eyes became a bit worried as I was determined to get…. that….cat….charm.  It didn’t take long, though, and I soon had a jingly charm bracelet to add a Halloween theme to my outfit.

All that was left was a cute pair of shoes.  Ripley and I had read Astrid’s post here about the Spooktacular Goth Hunt over at Swank Events, and decided to check it out.  After a short time of searching, we discovered the black rose containing the free prize from Ghostyss, which is this gorgeous pair of Carrie heels for slink high feet.  I particularly like the way these sweet black shoes have a thin cord that wraps around your ankles and ties in an adorable bow on the back.  There are numerous black roses scattered around the Swank Events show room, in designer’s booths and cleverly hidden all around, so look everywhere and you will discover LOTS of prizes, all set for sale at 0L.  The hunt runs until October 31st.

Now, Ripley must have some Blood Hound coursing through his veins, because after we finished at Spooktacular, he was off and running toward another hunt, with me scrambling to keep up with his racing paws.  This time, he led me to LaBoheme for the Halloween Hunt, which is a 1L hunt that runs through November 2nd.  All you have to do is locate the glowing jack o’lantern cleverly concealed in the store and soon you’ll have two sets of nail polish for Slink, Omega and Maitreya.  I’m wearing the “Dark Passion” polish (this shade is one of the ten colors in the HUD) for this outfit, but in the hunt prize, you also get a spooky Catacomb polish as well).

A trip to Black Basalt Beach was a perfect way to end the day.  Ripley and I explored the lovely grounds, had fun playing fetch and followed some shy deer across a log suspended over a gully.  There are so many sights to see at this beautiful sim.  If you have free time and love to visit SL locations, I encourage you to check it out.  Until next Sunday, happy shopping, my friends!

Bubbling With Excitement Over Fabulous Gifts

Hello Fabulous Readers!  Today it was time for Ripley’s annual visit to the V-E-T.  He was due for his rabies shot and a few other nasty pokes, so on the way home, it was time for some shopping therapy.  Aren’t I a lucky girl to have a pooch who loves bargain-hunting as much as I do?  After the promise of “Ripley-snacks,” my hound with a nose for fashion quickly tracked down two Fabulous Finds that we’re “bubbling” with excitement to share with you.  Ripley didn’t have to search far…these goodies include two gifts for Fab Free Group members.

For our first Fabulous Find, I slipped on the free, sleek Karmyn dress from #Bubbles.  With two curve-hugging silky mauve sides connected by a creamy, lacy panel, what’s not to love about this dress?  Its soft colors are sure to flatter any avatar.  A quick jaunt over to the Free Dove yielded my accessories which are a free gift set from Chop Zuey.  The purpley-pink tone of the center gem stone surrounded by gleaming diamonds perfectly echoed the color scheme of my dress.  With an application of subtle matte lipstick from Birth, Nefertiti eyeliner from Euphoric and Star Bliss nail polish from Livia (only 10L on The Marketplace – score team Ripley!), I’m all glamm’d up and ready to go!

Of course, after a morning at the animal hospital and bargain hunting, Ripley was ready for some well-deserved R and R at the lovely “A Painter’s Link” sim. He brown-bagged his Ripley-snacks and I brought along a picnic lunch to enjoy underneath a shady maple tree. For this outing, I needed a more casual outfit, so I combined Candys Capris from Cartiera Designs with two of our other finds of the day: the strappy, pink spiked shoes from Living Vintage Couture (another Free Fab Free Group Gift) and SG Apparel’s Rhapsody Gypsy top. The fun, unusual shoes left my fresh French manicure from By Snow (0L on The Marketplace) free to sparkle in the dappled sunshine. My pink crop top coordinated perfectly with my shoes, but if pink is not your color, the top comes with a color-change HUD with several other options. This top is a featured item in this week’s Fifty5 Thursdays sales line up. The sale runs through Sunday, but some designers keep up the sale items up for an entire week. All in all, these separates combined to create a fun, playful outfit for our afternoon leisure time.
