A quiet place

Good evening, Fabulous Readers. As I’m sure you already know, Second Life’s 19th Birthday is going strong and there are many many free gifts to be had at the Shop & Hop. Sadly, there aren’t many offerings this round for the men but I did ferret out a good gift from Vagrant. You may be forgiven for thing Vagrant has nothing for men as the booth shows only women’s clothing. But, at the main store there are some very nice things for the guys. While the selection is small, the quality is high and I thoroughly enjoy spending my free Shop & Hop 500L Gift Card there. 

Simply collect your free store credit at the Shop and Hop booth then follow the LM to the main store. Right now, everything in the store is 50% off but it still allows you to use the store credit! ( That may change quickly as the 50% sale was scheduled to end yesterday but was still going at the time of this post) I was able to pick up several things including the pants, top and hat I’m sporting in the photograph. The gift does not mention an expiration date but I wouldn’t tempt fate.

Dragon and blossom

Hello FabFam! This is ging to be a fast oe since we don’t have much time at all to take advantage of it! SO hold on… here we go…

If you don’t already know, the wonderful group, Historical Hunts (the website has hunt prize pics) is running their ‘Silk Road’ again this June and we are running out of time quickly to do the hunt. The Silk Road is your hunt for all things exotic and this year’s theme is Japan. There’s silk and kimonos and cherry blossoms galore! And of course a dragon or two!

Good afternoon, Fab Readers. We have a nice surprise for the gentlemen today. Amazing Creations has given us a “two for the price of one” hunt prize appropriately enough for the Surprise Hunt. This is the ‘Casual 5’ shirt one of the two prizes you can get for just 3L and a little hunting.  The shirts both come in two versions, one with the ‘doubled’ long sleeve look and one with simple regular short sleeves. Perfect for this time of year when the weather can be warm one day and cool the next.

Cold Spring

Good morning, Fab Free Readers. The calendar may tell me it’s Spring but it’s still rather cold here in the real world. 25 degrees this evening and that’s before our chance of snow this coming weekend. While the shops and designers are bringing out the bathing suits and shorts, I still want something warm I’m afraid.

In deference to that, I have found a very nice new coat, scarf and sweater from a new-to-me designer – R3VOLT. The shop doesn’t appear to have an in-world store any longer but their Marketplace store is up and running.  This is the “Sterling” coat but really it’s the entire top in one piece. That’s coat, scarf and sweater.  There is also a HUD to change all three plus the pocket square to any one of fifteen color/pattern choices. All this for a low 10L price makes for an easy bundled up ensemble indeed.

Good evening, Fab Readers.  Finding good quality men’s wear and accessories here on the Grid is often a trial and can be very frustrating. Honestly, I think if I have to see one more hoodie… Never mind, I digress. When the morass of “not affordable” or “mundane” men’s wear gets me down, I retreat to my stand by favorites. Places with quality work and generous groups. One such place is R&R Swag. They can always be counted on for excellent group gifts and other affordable options. Plus, the designers are rather charming and very friendly.

I found recently that the prizes on the Lucky Chairs in the main store have been updated and I was delighted to see that my initial had popped up as well. I didn’t hesitate to grab this full outfit ; The Blade Biker Outfit. The complete outfit includes the jacket, with and without the tee shirt, the jeans and the boots. All impeccably built and perfect for casual days or nights. The outfit is designer exclusively for the Signature Gianni but I found it looked just as smashing on my Belleza Jake. As Julianna would say, “Your mileage may vary.” Even if this look doesn’t suit you, R&R Swag has many other past group gifts available as well as other outfits loaded into the Lucky Chairs. Hello and Happy Friday, FabFree. As I am sure you are aware, the weekend is upon us and I for one am quite glad to see it’s arrival. Not only does the weekend bring some well deserved rest and relaxation, it brings a slew of sales and events with it. And the men haven’t been excluded today.

For example, Finer Threads is participating in the Happy Weekend Sale and are offering this refreshing change from the morass of sweats and snapbacks. This is the “Asher” suit in black and it was a mere 60L as part of the sale. The set is all one piece however you as receive a HUD to change the color of the suit jacket and inner shirt.  I found a bit of mixing and matching fit me well today with shades of black and blue. The Asher comes in several other colors all for the same 60L price if the black doesn’t suit your taste. And since the sale is a “Weekend” offering, I imagine that Asher will go back to the rack for it’s regular price on Sunday evening. So make some haste if you want to pick it up for this special sale.

Happy New Year

Good evening FabFree! I hope the first day of 2022 has come and gone by with nothing but good stuff for you. Gabe and I started our 2022 much like we started 2021: with coffee first and nonsense after. ( Or during thanks to Dixie) So much happened in 2021… and 2020 , I know it’s left us with some hard feelings. But I made a promise to myself and my little family here. I will not lose hope for better things and try to be one of those better things for the people n my life.

Yule Review

Good evening, FabFree. I know I rather don’t look like myself this evening but I had to take advantage of the remarkable new free mesh head available at Bespoke. I don’t often get the pleasure of seeing such high quality accessories coming around for the men of Second Life so I grasped this opportunity with some excitement.

This is the “Yule – Elf” head from Bespoke as I said and you can pick it up for free along with four different colored skins at the mainstore. The head comes with two shapes, one male and one female. Both are very well made as are the skins. Yule also includes:
• BoM Head/Body skin “Wood”
• Rigged eyes, eyelashes, mouth
• 6 eye colors
• AO HUD
• Eyebrow Tattoos (BoM)

I can honestly say I like this head and the shape that comes with it. The shape is not simply a handsome human with pointy ears. The shape and proportions of both head and body are very ‘other’. That said, the head responds fully to the slider system and can be made into your preferred shape easily. I left the shape untouched except for two things. I did make the head to body ratio slightly larger and I made the hands slightly smaller.  Simply personal preference, I would consider this head and shape ready to use ‘right out of the box’.

I did encounter a few minor issues. I felt the eyes did not fit inside the sockets well. They clipped a bit at the corners. However this could easily be changed or tweeked. It didn’t help that I wasn’t 100% happy with the colors of eyes offered but that is purely a personal preference and no bad mark against Bespoke. The other issue I had was the AO. The AO runs through a menu that I felt was a bit clunky. The animations were well done but a bit inconvenient to access. All said, I would not consider any of this a reason to not get this head and enjoy it’s use.

I want to say something about the skins both included and the four extra skins available. These are simply some of the best skins I have encountered in Second Life. They are truly astonishing. The details are both subtle and gorgeous. Even if you decide not to use them with the Yule head they are a stunning addition to your wardrobe.

I am uncertain as to how long the Yule head and the skins will be available but it is described as a “Season’s Gift”. If you would like to get this excellent elfin head and skins don’t delay.

Good Morning, Fabulously Free Readers. As you must know, today is Tuesday and that means that the 25L Tuesday sale is in effect. I do look forward to this sale because there is usually something there for the men. And today is no exception.

Welcome to the week, Fab Readers! Isn’t it wild how time seems to be getting faster and faster as we head towards the holidays and the end of the year? It’s full on Fall now! And in honor of that, Gabe and I went for a nice stroll out in town to breathe it all in! The crisp air, the falling leaves… The cup full of hot chocolate… oh yes!  I even found us the perfect casual outfits to enjoy our walk. Both of our full outfits come from Tastic and they each only cost one little Linden.

My top and cozy sweater are the “Willow” set. You get the jeans and the top inside a little mushroom prize box. It’ll take a few minutes of hunting but you’ll find it. I am in love with the rich Autumn colors in both the top and the jeans.

Gabe’s full outfit is called “Hunter” appropriately enough. You lucky guys get the whole outfit – Hoodie, jeans and sneakers! Each piece is really well built. I especially like the sneakers! The look is so realistic.  Just be sure to wear a shirt under it… so you can hand it off to your girl when she gets cold. 😉
