The Vordun

The Vordun

Welcome back Fab Free’rs! I’m super excited you’re here. I’m always excited you’re here, but I have a fun post to share with you today that I hope you’ll enjoy. Along with showing off the sassy halter dress Glitter has out as their free Fabulously Free in SL group gift, I wanted to share with you a fun destination I recently discovered. The Vordun is a fully functional art museum and gallery with a well curated collection complete with a detailed audio experience that you can visit and enjoy for free. It was on a whim that I ended up here on a date not too long ago, and it was genuinely a fun and interesting way to spend time with someone in Second Life without going to a club or wading through crowds at an event. Not to mention, The Vordun is a beautifully done venue.

The Vordun Lobby
As you enter the building, The Vordun’s lobby is bright with the skylight overhead. One either side of the room you’ll see headsets you can click to allow the hud to attach so you can enjoy the audio presentation that goes along with your walk through the museum. The hud also attaches automatically as you enter further into the room. There are clear detailed instructions on how to use the hud and hear the information about each of the unique pieces of art in the museum. You can also take a look at the map on the wall to get a feel for how big the building really is.
The Vordun Gift Shop

You can choose to follow through the guided tour, which I’d recommend if you have a little free time and enjoy learning about each of the artworks. Alternately you can of course browse through The Vordun at your leisure. I found the exhibit about block printing was my personal favorite. There’s also a really interesting section about a global postcard project where people send postcards to another random participant anywhere in the world. As you round out your visit to The Vordun, there’s even a cute giftshop where you can buy different gifts or souvenirs to remember your visit. Once you’ve had your fill of the museum, I’d also suggest visiting the grounds. There is shopping, and if you follow the path away from The Vordun, you’ll end up at a cute little frozen yogurt shop where you can sit and have a treat while enjoying the scenery.

Glitter at The Vordun

Shadow One Estates Fall Festival & Haunted Corn Maze

Fall Festival Haunted Hayride 2
Hello hello Fab Free’rs! I’m so excited about the up-coming Halloween weekend! If you’re like me and you can’t get enough of all the spooky fun, you need to visit the Shadow One Estates Fall Festival. There are so many scary fun things to do here that I’m certain I will accidentally leave one out. At the Fall Festival landing point you’ll see a sign with windlight setting suggestions. I highly recommend using them to enhance the experience. The photo below was taken using the suggested setting. Also at the landing point you’ll want to click the sign to receive your flashlight. There’s an information menu when you click the jack-o-lantern that has the “click here” sign. In that menu you can choose to get a gift, which is a silly pumpkin head mask.

In this same landing area at the Fall Festival you’ll see a pumpkin patch where you can pick your own pumpkin. Click the pumpkins and you’ll see funny messages in open chat. Once you find the “right” one you’ll be gifted your very own pumpkin. There’s also a table with treats and candies, take a grab from each bowl and get a cute little prize. Pru picked up a purple spider ring and some Halloween candy. There’s even a cute little spot with hay bales and pumpkins where you can take some fun fall photos.
Pru Haunted Hayride
After having done all your Halloween-loving little heart desires at the Fall Festival landing, you can head toward the haunted corn maze. There is the option of choosing to bravely go on foot through the maze, or hitch a ride in the horse-drawn carriage. Once you’ve completed the creepy haunted corn maze, you’ll end near the even creepier haunted house. You’ll want your flashlight for sure to explore the house and the surrounding haunted grounds at the Shadow One Estates Fall Festival. There’s even a macabre scavenger style hunt you can complete to be sure you aren’t missing any of the scary fun. You’ll find the list of things to find on your search on a board outside the windmill.

Whether you’re looking for a spot to spend a spooky date-night, or a scary fun-filled adventure with you’re friends, I would highly recommend the Shadow One Estates Fall Festival. Just be warned, though tons of fun, some of the sights and settings are frightful! However if you ask Pru, being a little scared is half the fun!
