I got a little misdirected while visiting Netherwood. You see, I was checking out Love’s post about her finds at Petite Mort and from the picture I thought, hey that looks like a nice peaceful sim to visit… but Nooooooooo……. I end up in some corner that looks like it’s straight out of an Alfred Hitchcock movie! Which is sort of suitable since I’m sporting a shirt with Birds on it. I’m sure Hitchcock would approve.

Getting Hairy…

I picked up a couple of “hairy” gifts for this post, including a hair for my skull and a beard for my face. The hair on top of my head is a free hunt gift as part of the St. Patrick’s Day hunt. You’ll find this in a little pot of gold at Volthair. It’s actually unisex and includes the needed hairbases for various mesh heads. It’s a long over the shoulder style that goes down the back and comes in white or brown.

My beard is from i.mesh, and I couldn’t resist the contrast of my rough and tough exterior, with the rose-filled facial hair. This too is a free gift with your free to join group tag. You’ll get the beard in black with red roses, white with blue roses, and silver with yellow roses (shown).

A Little Sci-Fi

If you like a little Sci-fi, I might be able to point you in the right direction. The latest group gift at Prey for men has a Science Fiction feel to it that would make it ideal for roleplay, though I’m sure you could get away with it for every day Gothic wear as well.

This outfit comes in several separate pieces… you get the pants, top, and shoulder metals all as individual pieces that can be worn separately or together depending on the look you want. It only comes in standard mesh sizes, but I didn’t have any trouble using alphas to get it to fit my Slink mesh body.

The Barber Shop

A new Sweater.

Byrne has out this great new FREE sweater as their group gift (the group is FREE to join) and you can pick it up before heading off for more winter travels. The gift package includes all the standard sizes, a good quality alpha, and the men’s sweater in black or gold. It’s quite stylish. And style was what was what seemed appropriate as I traveled to “The Village” for my afternoon jaunt.

It was snowing.

It was snowing so I ducked into a little barber shop. It got me remembering that first haircut we all invariably get as children — you know the one… where you cry and your mother takes a picture of the entire traumatic event? It seems, though, that haircuts or at least hairstyles seem to be milestones for changes in our lives.

The importance of a haircut.

I ran across this quote on google while exploring this little barbershop and it made me reflect a moment, because I have to think that the quote (if Coco Chanel did indeed say it) doesn’t only apply to women. A lot of men get life changing haircuts as well.

Many important milestones come with trips to the salon or at least personal stylings —  such as dances or weddings… and I’m sure the fellas (not just the ladies) get shimmied up with a fresh haircut too. In some cultures the cutting of hair is deeply spiritual, so I took this picture of myself at this quaint little Barber Shop in my brand new Freebies (and I’ve got one more to tell you about) and thought about the changes that are in store for Astrid and I as the new year approaches. We will certainly have some stories to tell you.

The Beaded Bracelet

Did you catch the fancy new bracelet I was sporting? That’s courtesy of Cold Ash, and is their November L’Homme Magazine reader’s gift. The L’Homme Magazine group is Free to join and you can pick up many free gifts from many stores across the grid, including this free bracelet which comes in a left or right version as well as a standard or TMP version. It is black with a couple of brown beads on it to make it extra versatile. And it’s a nice touch to a classic outfit. Every gentleman needs a little extra now and then.

Don’t Get Left Out in the Cold!

The Menstuff Hunt is coming to an end.

I didn’t want to get left out in the cold when it came to getting in on the goods with the Menstuff Hunt… after all, the hunt ends November 30th, but somehow I ended up sitting on ice in a simful of penguins. I blame Astrid’s sense of direction. At least the penguins are friendly and the view of the Northern Lights is spectacular. Come to think of it… I don’t have that much to complain about after all. The trip up here was actually worth it. The sim is called Lovea and this little icy haven is outside of a small art studio. It’s well worth visiting to snap a few photos.

I needed igloo appropriate clothes.

I figure this red vest is igloo appropriate right? It’s also a FREE Menstuff Hunt gift from Birth and includes three different undershirt options. Opening Doors

The Doors.

Astrid got this crazy idea that we are going to be adventuring… and Kathryn helped her out with a link to this Flickr Group where you can look at pictures of various sims. It’s required to post the slurl in the description, so you can be sure to find the destination if you want to check it out for yourself. One of the photos caught my eye, and I landed on Baja Bay.

The original photo had been of a beach house with seaguls…. but I ended up gravitating toward a set of doors on the beach. I’m reminded of a song by The Doors called “Land Ho.”

He said: “Son, I’m going crazy from livin’ on the land
Got to find my shipmates and walk on foreign sands”

Maybe that’s just the thing. I’ve been a little cooped up lately and I’m ready to open doors. These four got me as excited is Astrid about what lay ahead.
