Pretty as Ribbon Candy

Hello Fabulouses and Happy Saturday!  While shopping on the Marketplace at the Believe shop, Ripley and I discovered this bright and cheerful fitted dance top for only 10L, and I wanted to quickly share it with you before I head outside to tackle the dreaded y-a-r-d-w-o-r-k before it gets too hot.  Fortunately, the sky is overcast and the high temperature is expected to be only in the nineties … so I’d better take advantage of the respite from heat while I can!

Pastel Stripes

I just love the stripes of color on this cropped shirt!  The pattern reminds me of the ribbon candy my mother used to get during the holidays.  With a playful, asymmetrical hem line, slender shoulder straps and pastel colors, this little number is just so happy and fun!  The fitted mesh top comes in XS – M and L sizes, and includes an alpha layer for classic avatars.  By adjusting the alpha layer of my Maitreya Lara mesh body, I was able to get a perfect fit.  Although I bought it a couple of days ago, the shirt description says the price is only for 24 hours, so if you’d like to scoop up this bargain for yourself, I’d suggest doing so quickly.

The pupster and I are off to pull weeds and pick up seed pods – oh the ever-fun life of a blogger!  Until my next post, happy shopping!

What’s Black and White and Read all over…

….why, my blog post of course? *Waits for the groans to subside* Well, happy Thursday everyone! Trust me, my bad joke is not in vain, as this week, my blog post really is black and white…with a little bit of RED all over. I’m channeling my inner rockabilly, black and white movie star this week, both literally, and figuratively.

It all started with my dress. Before I go on, let me start by saying I got all my fabulous finds on the Marketplace, kinda. I’ll explain what the kinda means, a little bit later. Close-ups of each item are in the collage below. Oh yes, back to the dress. This gorgeous, retro coat/dress is from Angel DELUXE, and you can find it HERE on the Marketplace, for only L$9. It’s called the Poablack Rockabilly Coat, and it’s kind of like a wearable demo, except you can also get a demo for free if you’d like to try it on first. There are other versions of this beauty available, just not for the sweet L$9 price! It is mesh, and fits the standard sizes 🙂

My next retro-esque item is from [BE]lieve, and it is these sexy red heels I am sporting. When I saw the polka dots, while scrolling through pages and pages of shoes, I knew these were the ones. The aptly named Red Spiked Bow Heels are for SLink mid feet, and are non-rigged mesh, so you adjust their positioning if need be. I think they are a steal at only L$20, and the Marketplace link for them, is HERE. As an aside, the listing for these shoes says they are a 24hr promo only…but, I got them on Aug 5th, and as of today, they are still the same price. So they might be a permanent promo, or it’s just taking the creator awhile to change the price again, and if that’s the case, don’t wait to grab them if you love them like I do! I mean come on….spiked bows!

The last item I am featuring is my beautiful grey-toned skin. Now, this is where the ‘kinda’ comes in. You can find the lovely Film Noir Dame skin from Oddment on the Marketplace for a small sum of L$30 HERE. In the interest of full disclosure…I have actually had this skin in my inventory for many, many years, almost as long as I’ve been in SL. Do not let this persuade you that the skin is old and outdated…even after all this time, it is still beautiful. So no, there are not any appliers provided, however, a grey-tone is super easy to match, trust me! I almost did not need to use the ankle and wrist tattoo layers to blend my hands and feet, they were so easily matched. I have gotten a lot of wear out of Ms. Film Noir, and was super excited to see it still available, when I just happened across it recently, in a random search on Marketplace. Hooray!

With a few more added touches (a few FabFreely priced, L$75 or under) to complete my outfit, I think I totally rocked my rockabilly/retro tv movie star look! Don’t you? How lucky was I to find a red phone booth for my main picture? LOL. With the fogginess of the W/L setting I chose, I felt like I was in a horror movie, with a monster, or zombie ready to pop out from behind the booth at any second! OK, now I need popcorn, this sounds like a great movie night! *grins*

Some days all I want to do is sit at home in my favorite band shirt and listen to records with my cat. Finn, that’s my cat, even seems to enjoy when I occasionally sing along! Inevitably when the topic of music comes up, people ask “Who’s your favorite artist?” or “What band do you like best?”. Those questions are impossible for me to answer. I don’t have a favorite, I like them all, some more than others obviously, but even that changes with my mood. Certain genres have a special place in my heart because they are the proverbial soundtrack to my angst-riddled teen years. Mostly, music just speaks to me on so many levels. I can’t imagine life without it.

So, when I came across this sweet little t-shirt showing Yoko and John Lennon on the Marketplace, I had to have it! It isn’t mesh, and it doesn’t come with any appliers, but it’s a cute shirt and perfect for a casual outfit. While browsing through the Marketplace, I also came across this sightly off-the-shoulder cardigan. It’s got a kinda grungy feel to it, and hey, the ’90s are my decade, those were my teen years, so heck yes!! I know, grunge is not always the best fashion forward statement, but every now and then I just have to indulge in a little fashion nostalgia. Band shirt, check, funky sweater, check, now my look could not be complete without some printed tights to go under my denim shorts! Once again, the Marketplace held the answer. These super cute tights are by [BE]lieve, and just inexpensive enough that I couldn’t have been happier with them. I’ll admit, I struggled with not wearing combat boots, or even more grunge, yellow work-boots. Anyone else recall when those were popular, even for girls?! hahaha Still, I refrained from the boots and went with these funky cool wedge shoes with little wing accents. Last but not least, I am completely in love with one of the latest manicure/pedicure sets from Nail Me! For a limited time these uber cute and pretty nail appliers called “Faery Wings” are on sale for $50 lindens. They are fun and colorful, and if you’re like me, you’ll wear them with everything! I’m not altogether certain my outfit matches, but what I do know is that I love it! It reminds me of a fun time in my own life. I would have worn this as a teenager, and if I thought for a minute I could pull it off, I might wear it still! I hope you enjoy it as much as I have.

I really love the Aloha Necklace by Candy Nail that adds a colourful punch to any outfit. The Blue Earrings by Emporium matches the blue in the necklace really well so they are a great combination to pep up the darker colours in my outfit. The gorgeous lace Aloha Top by NerdMonkey is a great choice to cool down in when off to the coffee shop to catch up with friends and the You & Me Jeans by VooDoo Dolls gives the right amount of casual charm. I adore the little Hanalei Ring by Bliensen & MaiTai which comes in several colours besides the pinky colour I am wearing. Not forgetting the really cute little MintSalmon Clutch by Vertice and the Blue Leopard Heels by BElieve to complete the look!

The gorgeous skin I am wearing is called Didy and is by WoW Skins. Included are the appliers for SLink, plus Lola and Lush mesh breasts. Hipster is, as Hipster does….whatever that means

Good evening Fabulouses!! Or morning, depending on where in the world you are 🙂 Well, it is evening for me, and as I sit in my sweltering living room, I thought I would try to take my mind off of how much like a sauna my house will be with the heat wave my area is going to experience this week, by showing you my Hipster look.

My look was completely inspired by the newest free, Reign group gift. The group was recently free to join for a short while, with the temptation of a free pair of shoes if they hit a certain number before closing up free entry. As a little thank you to all the new people who joined, as well to the current members who pushed, pulled and dragged everyone they knew to join, KenadeeCole, one of the owner’s/creator’s for Reign, sent out this cute little texture change Hello Hipster Necklace. You get a hud with 4 different colours to change the ‘Hello’ to, and I really like the simplicity of the design. If you hurry, and aren’t already in the group, I just checked, and, as of 10PM SLT (Monday), it’s still free to join.

My next choice had to be glasses. No self-respecting hipster would be caught without their glasses on. While I have a few pairs in my inventory from days past when I always had glasses on, I wanted something new, and a little less sleek/modern. My favourite place to search, the Marketplace, did not let me down! The Mad Nerd Glasses, by Mad Mesh, were the first pair to pop up in my search, and lucky me, they were only L$9! Score! You get several different colours in both plain, and checkered versions, and even better, they are totally mod, so you can make them any colour you need.

Sticking with my accessories, I picked up these super adorable Hot and Cold Marshmallow earrings by Pink Acid at the current Candy Shop round, and for only L$50. Seriously, the expressions on their faces, so cute, though I do feel a little bad for the hot marshmallow, he doesn’t look like he is enjoying the heat at all. Kinda like me…LOL.

I think, my favourite finds of my whole outfit though, are the * [BE]lieve – Black Urban Hipsta cat blazer with T-shirt, and * [BE]lieve – Hipster Studded Triangles Shorts. Both of these were finds on the Marketplace, with the Blazer- T-shirt combo setting me back a total of L$20, and the shorts were only L$10. How could I say no to either, especially when there is a cat print involved 😛  Both pieces are mesh, coming in standard sizes, though I will warn you that I had to go up a size in the shorts, wearing a L instead of my usual M, but the L fits perfectly, and the M Blazer sits over the shorts without any part breaking through. I don’t know if the creator made these 2 to go together, but they work so well together, that it sure feels like it was meant to be. Love when that happens! Make sure you take a peek at all the other items from * [BE]lieve, as all their stuff is well priced, nothing over L$50, and great looking.

So, how do I look? Am I hipster enough? I am the type of person that I just wear what I like, not really paying attention to whether I fit into a certain group or not, and it works for me. Truthfully though, this look of mine is going to be saved and worn over and over, that is the sign of a great outfit. I hope you all agree 🙂
