I’m starting to feel a little less guilty about being excited about Autumn.  You must admit that it is really the best season for a great many reasons.  It’s still lovely out, the trees are insanely beautiful, and the food and drink is pretty top notch.  Plus, there are some awesome celebrations, right?  I’m having fun with a cup of what I like to call “98% sugar”… a French Vanilla from Tim’s, which is literally the only kind of coffee that I will allow past my lips because it tastes nothing like coffee.  Hey, I’m a wimp.  At least I own it.

To Orsy We Go!

Good afternoon, Fab Readers. We have a nice surprise for the gentlemen today. Amazing Creations has given us a “two for the price of one” hunt prize appropriately enough for the Surprise Hunt. This is the ‘Casual 5’ shirt one of the two prizes you can get for just 3L and a little hunting.  The shirts both come in two versions, one with the ‘doubled’ long sleeve look and one with simple regular short sleeves. Perfect for this time of year when the weather can be warm one day and cool the next.

MakeOver Monday part 4

Hello hello, Fab Free! It’s that time again… MakeOver Monday! And we’ve come so far! Two full avatars for exactly ZERO lindens. And I really had to grit my teeth a few times. I’m so weak when it comes to having that “perfect’ (To me anyway) look. I really fret over poor Alistar’s hair. And I’m still looking for something better for him. I swear, if I ever become a designer or builder… I will have good free stuff for the guys. But anyway…

Let’s jump in here. SO, we have bento bodies, Mesh heads, Animation Overrides, and hair. All we need now is clothes. I don’t want to dwell on the clothing part since that’s basically what we do here at the Blog everyday. But I do want to mention a few places, I’ve found very helpful.

First is R&R Swag and their “Rookie Alley” . This is a very nice selection of things for both male and female avatars under 30 days. This outfit is a bit of a mix and match from the Rookie Alley and the past group gifts.

Alistar’s second outfit is a second set of jeans from R&R Swag’s Rookie Alley and a group gift from Asteroidbox for the L’Homme group.  L’Homme is one of the hands down best groups to join if you are looking for male clothes and accessories. The group is free to join, the designers are top notch and you have three -ish months to pick the gifts up. I highly recommend it. 

Last is a current gift for one of our own FabFree Group designers – MaxMagic. They are offering this great Trekkie hoodie for both men and women. I do love geeky stuff!

Kerydwyn’s clothes are much easier to find, go figure. But I still want to show a few choices for our newbs. The first is from BoHo Soul one of our FabFree Group designers. This is the “Impish” outfit which comes with top, pants and shoes. Which is awesome because free good shoes are hard to find. 

The second outfit is from the Cozy Fest event. This event is a bonanza for free gifts from real quality designers. Plus, for new folks… it’s just about everything you can ask for. The group is free to join and each booth has a free gift! Kerydwyn is showing the ‘Maggs’ top from Apple Blossom and the ‘Natasha’ leggings from 1313 Mockingbird lane. These events are great places to “shop” for designers landmarks as well. If you like the gift or what you see in the booth… check out their main store. They may have a free group or other gifts there. Also,

The boots in the second picture are another totally free gift from Body Cult the Marketplace. Digging through the MP can be frustrating… but worth it.

Frosty Fun

Cue the sleigh bells again, I’m about to do Christmassy things in the woods!  I don’t know what that entails, but most likely some sitting around fires, some caroling and some airing of grievances.  Wait, that last one is for Festivus.  Either way, let’s get to it!

Alright!  It’s time to get toasty, a lot Christmassy, and yet stay a bit punk while we’re at it.  Asteroidbox has an awesome freebie under the tree – this ripped and awesome sweater!  I am pretty obsessed with how the holes give it an air of “I don’t care one bit”.  There’s an HUD that has a red option as well.  Best of all, it’s completely free – no need to join a group!  Even better, there’s one there for the guys too!  Yay!

Yule Review

Good evening, FabFree. I know I rather don’t look like myself this evening but I had to take advantage of the remarkable new free mesh head available at Bespoke. I don’t often get the pleasure of seeing such high quality accessories coming around for the men of Second Life so I grasped this opportunity with some excitement.

This is the “Yule – Elf” head from Bespoke as I said and you can pick it up for free along with four different colored skins at the mainstore. The head comes with two shapes, one male and one female. Both are very well made as are the skins. Yule also includes:
• BoM Head/Body skin “Wood”
• Rigged eyes, eyelashes, mouth
• 6 eye colors
• AO HUD
• Eyebrow Tattoos (BoM)

I can honestly say I like this head and the shape that comes with it. The shape is not simply a handsome human with pointy ears. The shape and proportions of both head and body are very ‘other’. That said, the head responds fully to the slider system and can be made into your preferred shape easily. I left the shape untouched except for two things. I did make the head to body ratio slightly larger and I made the hands slightly smaller.  Simply personal preference, I would consider this head and shape ready to use ‘right out of the box’.

I did encounter a few minor issues. I felt the eyes did not fit inside the sockets well. They clipped a bit at the corners. However this could easily be changed or tweeked. It didn’t help that I wasn’t 100% happy with the colors of eyes offered but that is purely a personal preference and no bad mark against Bespoke. The other issue I had was the AO. The AO runs through a menu that I felt was a bit clunky. The animations were well done but a bit inconvenient to access. All said, I would not consider any of this a reason to not get this head and enjoy it’s use.

I want to say something about the skins both included and the four extra skins available. These are simply some of the best skins I have encountered in Second Life. They are truly astonishing. The details are both subtle and gorgeous. Even if you decide not to use them with the Yule head they are a stunning addition to your wardrobe.

I am uncertain as to how long the Yule head and the skins will be available but it is described as a “Season’s Gift”. If you would like to get this excellent elfin head and skins don’t delay.

Gasp! Two FREE Heads from LeLutka!

What’s the big news today, FabFree?  Two brand spankin’ new and completely FREE mesh heads!  Let’s dive into the info!

LeLutka Strikes Again!

Last year, we were all blown away by the generosity of the LeLutka team when they put out two mesh heads for members of their free to join group.  Well, it looks like lightning DOES strike twice, because here we go again with two more new and utterly free Lelutka Evo X heads!  One for females, and one for males!  I’m modeling the Kaya, which comes complete with all the bells and whistles, most of which I have no idea how to work (yet).  But, she’s very pretty, and I had fun with her Elvish ears, turning myself into a bit of a Space Babe.  I dunno, just go with it.  Sadly, I couldn’t wrangle a male posing partner quite yet to show off the new head for the gentlemen, but I will add a photo below so you can see it.

Creepy season is clearly upon us, but what’s a cute zombie hunter to do when she’s in need of some romance?  Well, you get dolled up, head to the most romantic clearing in the post-apocalyptic forest you can find, swipe on some red lipstick and hope the man (or woman) of your dreams saunters by and ignores the blood stains.  Or, contrarily, they’re impressed by the blood stains because clearly you’re a survivor of all the madness.  Once you put down your weapons long enough to suss out if you’re compatible, you’ll totally be ready for some canoodling!

Dating Tips from the Dark

Now that I’ve sufficiently rambled, it’s time to tell you about where I got this dark and yet rather appealing outfit!  AsteroidBox have put on a little creepy hunt in honour of Halloween coming!  It’s lots of fun, with little notecard clues in each gift – plus everything is completely free, no need to join a group.  Just find the bloody knives on the sim and you’re good to go!  I got my top, pants, boots and cane there, but there are also gifts for the guys so they’re not left out of the fun either!  You’ve got until the 1st of November to get your creep on!
