Bringing Home The Tree

Bringing Home the Tree
Hello there, Fab Free!  Today, as I took Ripley for his morning stroll, we passed by a house with a Christmas tree all decked out in the front window.  Ripley paused and gazed at it with a wistful, hopeful expression in his eyes.  “OK pal, we’ll go pick out our tree tonight,” I told him as I scratched behind his ears.  All the way home, he pranced, his tail wagging joyously.  I guess even pups get excited during the holiday season!

Crimson Concoction

The other day, as Rip and I sought out our next Fabulous Find to share, we decided to pop on over to Hottest Fashion.  In our very first post on Fab Free [HERE], we highlighted a cute, summery knotted top from the store, and I figured we should take a peek and see if the gift had been updated to a cooler-weather outfit.  Pleasantly surprised, I tapped the prize board for the Mesh Body Friends Group (free to join), and scooped up this free long-sleeved Winter Dress.  As an added bonus……..it was in my favorite color….another score for Team Ripley!  This frock features a full-cut skirt accompanied by a loosely fitted bodice, and can be worn with or without the included black woolen scarf.  Since Rip and I planned to delve into the woods to track down our Christmas tree, I draped it around my neck to ward off the winter chill.

What’s Included:

  • Appliers for Belleza, Slink, Maitreya
  • Fit mesh in XS, S, M, L, XL
  • Alpha layer for fit mesh
  • Fit mesh scarf

Life is Better in Boots

You can’t ferret out a tree in the forest wearing heels (now THAT would make an interesting post, don’t you think?), so I slipped into some winter-friendly footwear.  I discovered my high, zipped leather boots while searching the Marketplace for good deals.  Currently, Vlad Blackburn is offering these Color Zip Over Knee Boots for only 49L in his Marketplace store.  Featuring high heels, and creamy leather with soft folds, this footwear package includes a color HUD packed with a rainbow of options.  You can alter the hue of the body, soles, and zipper separately.  They are constructed of fitted, rigged mesh, so no special feet are required.  To confirm they will work with your avatar, you can always test the fit with the free demo offered here.  With my tootsies and legs snuggled up in warmth, Rip and I started up Old Bessie (our truck) and began the Great Tree Hunt.

Over at the Beautiful 4 Seasons sim, we accomplished our mission, and met some new friends along the way.  Aren’t these lovey-dovey owls just the sweetest looking couple?  My heart just melted when I saw them perched on Ole Bess.  I posed next to the pair, and snapped a quick picture before journeying home with Ripley to set up our tree.  Until next time, my friends, happy shopping!

Lovely knitwear

Lovely knitwear

Taking cues from your peers.

Upon reading Carson latest blog post {HERE} I was inspired to head down to Prism Designs to check and see if there was a group gift out for the ladies as well. I’ve been a longtime member of the Prism Designs group thanks to being introduced to this particular merchant via the FabFree blog, specifically Julianna’s posts, and have kept the group tag since those early SL days due to Prism’s top notch products, great deals, and frequent gifts. With that being said, it didn’t take very much poking around at all to locate the new group gift at Prism Designs and when I saw what it was, it made me rethink the theme of that ‘blog segment’ that I had planned on doing.

It’s all about keeping warm and toasty.

What I had originally had in mind centered around ball gowns and party wear but with the chill, upon us, I thought I’d highlight the often understated knitwear. At face value, it’s probably not as exciting as demon dresses or warrior armor but hey, this is SL and I’m sure I’ll find some interesting designs to wear. Hence I bring to you today the Paige dress, the new and free group gift from Prism Designs mentioned above. If you have to brave the cold then why not opt for something that will not only make you feel snug and cozy but looks it as well. Personally, I feel that the Paige dress strikes a good balance between being form flattering and comfortable to wear. It’s tan belt really accentuates the waistline but is a simple enough accessory that it doesn’t overwhelm the dress’ loose high neck. If you’re looking to be a stand out while walking the snowy streets this season then the Paige dress will certainly work in your favor when it’s warm magenta coloring contrasts with the icy backdrop. The Paige dress comes in five standard mesh sizes (XXS-L) with a nifty alpha layer included. As it is almost to the end of November, I’m not sure how long this gift will be out so hurry on down to Prism Designs today to join their free group and get your hands on this awesome dress. While you’re there do check out the gifts and hunts room to pick up the other group gifts that are out and to also check out the different hunts that Prism Designs are currently participating in. Have fun!

Don’t you just love an extension?

I certainly do, especially when it comes to real life deadlines (lol) Sometimes extension mean good things in SL and the prime example of that is the sale at Truth being extended until 12-noon slt today! The sale was mentioned {HERE} by Love and {HERE} by Kathryn, but to give you a refresher 48 selected hair styles a the Truth Mainstore have been marked down to 75L per color pack (100 L per variety pack and 500 L per fatpack) The hairstyle that I’m wearing in the picture is called Foxy and comes with hat/no hat variations as well as hair of different sizing so that it doesn’t cut into your front. There are two alpha layers provided with one that covers up the avatars ears in case you don’t want those sticking out. What’s more both the hair and hat comes with extensive huds giving you the ability to customize to your heart’s content. If you’ve missed out on the Truth Hair sale so far don’t delay as there are other great quality hairstyles to be had.

How about a pretty pair of heels?

There’s really nothing that gives an outfit an extra punch like statement shoes do. I’m a big fan of bright shoes in my first life, which would probably explain why I saw drawn to this pink pair from Kendrasy Creations. These heels are only for Slink High feet and I just love its sweet hue and minimalist design. The bright color though really speaks for itself and I’ll be wearing this pair for a while. Pop down to Kendrasy Creations for this dollarbie. You don’t have to wear any specific group tag to get in on this great bargain.
Lovely knitwear headshot

Hitting two birds with one stone.

Not that I’m about to be throwing stones at any innocent birds but do you remember the post I made {HERE} detailing the gorgeously metallic pair of shoes that are currently out as Enertia’s group gift? Well, joining the Toxxic Design Studios group also gives you access to group gifts from the AlterEgo skin store as well! The skin that I’m wearing in the picture above is called Natalia in the sunkissed tone. As a fan of subtle makeup and full eyebrows, I fell in love with this skin instantly. In the package, you’ll get three different classic skin with dark brows, light brows, and no brow options as well as a varied number of appliers. Those are:

  • Appliers for Loudmouth
  • Appliers for mesh heads that are Omega system compatible
  • Appliers for Soul Uni Standard and Mer
  • Appliers for Slink, Belleza, Maitreya, TMP mesh bodies
  • Appliers for Mesh bodies that are Omega system compatible
  • Appliers for Slink, Belleza, and Maireya mesh feet

The final four appliers are in one easy to use Hud so it doesn’t take up inventory space. The Toxxic Designs Studio group is currently set a 0L join fee and as both AlterEgo and Enertia give you group gifts regularly, I suggest you go and snap the current ones asap. You’ve got nothing to loose by joining this free and only a gorgeous, well-detailed skin to gain.

And that’s a wrap for today! Have fun in your SL explorations dear readers. Stay safe!

Back Against the Wall

Prism

The Work Week Cometh

I thought I’d get one more post in before the work week begins (and very little time to blog). I joined the group for FREE at Prism for Men and scored the Jeremy Outfit as the group gift. Astrid previously posted it here. This mesh outfit includes the shirt and pants with accompanying alphas AND a HUD to change each to four different colors. (4 pants x 4 shirts = 16 different outfit combinations).

Last Minute Hunting

There is still time left to find items in the Fall ’16 MenStuff Hunt. All items on this hunt are $0L – $1L.  I found the Men’s Classic Checkerboard Sneakers at Kingbal Stores for FREE all it just took a little searching. I also found some poses from Pics & Poses for FREE. I really need to update my collection.

Like an Anchor Around My Neck

Also on the MenStuff Hunt, I found this FREE Gold Anchor Necklace at ELYSIUM. The necklace also come in silver if gold isn’t your thing. It’s off to work, I’ll post when I can.

It’s good to be back!

A Snowy White Sweater and a Black Friday Sale

Fantasy Deer

Happy Sunday, Fabulouses!  I have a quick, time-sensitive post for you today.  On a tip from reader Starr Devereaux (thank you so much, Starr!), Ripley and I journeyed over to Wasabi Pills to check out their Black Friday Sale.  When we arrived yesterday, I was overjoyed to notice that this Fifty Linden Fridays Belle mesh hair was still set out in front of the store for only 50L.  I scooped it up, did a little happy dance, then headed inside to purchase a few (OK, OK, more than a few) Basics Packs of hair, which are on sale for 70% off.  I had to reassure Ripley that I still have enough Linden dollars left over to keep him well supplied with Ripley Snacks, and then his tail set to wagging once more.  Unfortunately, the Fifty Linden Friday Hair is no longer available, but you can scoop up the basics pack for Belle, and have more shades than I do, for 70% off.  Wasabi Pill’s Black Friday Sale runs through November 28th.

Snowy Sweater

In my post [HERE], I shared that Mie Beck strives to offer quality mesh items for 50L in her Marketplace shop.  I went back to poke around for more bargains, and I discovered this lovely white knitted sweater dress, just perfect for the season.  With a wide, ribbed, folded-down neck, and decorative cable stitching, this dress is packed with textural detail.  It reminds me of the sweaters that my grandmother used to knit for me when I was a little girl.  In addition, it features long sleeves, and falls to about mid-thigh.  You could definitely wear leggings underneath to keep your legs toasty if you are going to be out on a cold winter’s day.   The sweater is made exclusively for the Maitreya Lara mesh body, and is available in other colors in the Beck Marketplace store.

Happiness is Shopping for a Scarf

Siss Boom participates in Sixty Linden Weekend Sales Event, and when Rip and I traveled there to check out this week’s offerings, I noticed the wall filled with 24 group gifts.  I decided to pick up a few.  I had joined Siss Boom’s group quite some time ago, and although it costs 500L to join, the *24* generous group gifts such as this free Ragland scarf in PAISLEY (woot! woot!) really make the fee a worthwhile investment.  Love previously featured this scarf in her post [HERE].  I adored it then, and am still enthralled with its delicate silk texture.  The soft, muted tones of the shawl really complemented my dress.  I draped it around my neck, and was quite pleased with the effect.

After popping home to grab a few of those Ripley Snacks for the road, the pupster and I dashed through the snow over to Snuggles Forest and met Jinx, a friendly deer.  I have to admit, though, Ripley kept a careful eye on those antlers while I gave Jinx a pat.  It’s so good to have a protective pal to keep me safe!  Until next time, wonderful readers…. happy shopping!

Through the Woods this Black Friday

Into the woods

Sn@tch up your fishing rods folks, the tides are coming in again!

I was just talking to Kathryn the other day about the fishing prizes at Sn@tch and she commented on what an avid angler I’ve become. It really isn’t hard to get hooked (ha ha) on fishing for prizes as Sn@tch changes out its prize outfits on the regular and they never fail to contain a wide variety of clothing pieces so that you can play around with different looks. Not only that but accessories, makeup and footwear are often thrown into the mix that you can wear with other items in your inventory. The latest Fish 4 This outfit is called Through the Woods and generously contains;

  • Five system snowpants in plum, red, green (pictured), teal and white
  • Snowpants mesh cuffs
  • Two system turtleneck sweaters in grey (pictured) and black
  • Five mesh tops in army (pictured), black, plum, red and teal
  • Mesh Fur Coat
  • Ankle boots
  • Though the Woods makeup tattoo layer in plum (not pictured)

If you have a mesh body or head never fear as you can catch the Omega applier for all the system and tattoo layer parts of the outfit from the prize filled waters. The mesh tops and fur coat come in both come in five standard mesh sizing (XS-XL) with an added fitmesh size for the fur coat and respective alpha layers to help with the fitting. Speaking of alpha layers, one is included for the ankle boots as well and you don’t need to have mesh fit to be able to slide these beauties on. Whew! That’s a ton of detail but I had a lot of fun figuring out the color combinations and there are already a few dresses that I have in mind that would go wonderfully with those boots. Fishing at Sn@tch is completely free but you do need to purchase a basic fishing rod for 100L to get in on the fun. Rods are available on the marketplace or at the Sn@tch store. It’s a great investment as you’ll get a lot of mileage on these outfits so to speak and since it’s Sn@tch, it’s top quality!

Into the woods (bonus)

While I was there…

Alright, alright I’ll admit that fishing is not all I do when I’m at Sn@tch. If you’ve been to the store you can’t really fault me for that as there are a lot of great outfits lining the walls. What’s more that are lucky boards to stalk and riot vendors to keep your eyes on so I had great fun multitasking and packing my wardrobe with great clothes from Sn@tch. The gown pictured above is new on their riot vendors and something that I just had to share. I got it for 55L as the store was pretty packed that day and when I opened the package up, I was floored by the options. First of all, you’ll get this glittery and flowing floor length skirt in five standard mesh sizes (XS-XL). Secondly, the strappy and backless top comes in eight different colors and five standard mesh sizes as well (XS-XL). Thirdly, there are also two different alpha layers included in the package to play around with. The subtle dusting of glitter on the skirt and the rhinestones that line the neckline of the top add a glamorous air to the whole outfit. Not only do I intend to wear this for upcoming parties this Chrismas but it’s also given ideas on a new blog segment as well (hmmm). Bring a friend or ten to Sn@tch today and pull those prices down, down, down to get the Gala Sparkling Brocade Gown into your inventory as well.

So you may have noticed…

So you may have noticed that I’m wearing a different hairstyle in each picture. That’s because of Black Friday and the insane number of sales that are going on right now. The offers that I’m about to list down are time sensitive as they end today but there’s nothing like a bit of rushing to get that adrenaline pumping I’d like to say. In the top three pictures, I’m wearing hairstyles from Doe that is having a 50% off sale for all of its Gachas. Playing a Gacha from this store has always been a staple for me at Gacha events so I was over the moon excited. Doe always has the cutest hairstyles and their colors are always so vibrant.

In the bottom two pictures, I’m wearing hairstyles from Besom. The store is marking down its hair packs to 75L and I took the opportunity to fill up the gaps in my Besom hair collection. I’ve always been a fan of the wonderful texturing of Besom hairstyles and their styles have an urban flavor to it yet still look so elegant. Hurry down to both stores to take advantage of these great deals maybe we’ll bump into each other as I’m certainly making the trip back.

Into the woods headshot

7 Deadly s{K}ins is going to be having free group join starting from the 28th of November! I can’t say enough how much I love the skins from this merchant and they always have such great perks for their group members. Not only are there regular monthly group gifts, there are also Midnight Mania and Mini Mania boards as well as Lucky Chairs. While browsing through their Black Friday Sale (60% off CasperVend items!) I managed to claim the Libra skin for myself. I’m been eyeing this skin set for so long that I was jumping for joy to see that my letter was up. Luckily I didn’t hit the ‘discard’ button in my excitement so now I’ll be able to tell you all about the Libra skin set! In the package, you’ll receive the Libra classic skin with cleavage/no cleavage options in five different tones (Pineapple tone pictured) as well as appliers for Slink hands and feet, Tango boob, and Phat Azz. What I thought was special about this skin package was that a version of this skin in Gothic makeup is included as well. The Gothic skins come in the same five tones as well as cleavage/no cleavage options. You’ll get twenty skins in one pack as a lucky chair prize, how mind-blowing is that? Mark your calenders for the 28th and wait patiently…

You might also want to…

Check out Elephante poses. The store is having a Black Friday and Retirement sale with the entire store excluding collabs and new releases being marked down to 50% off. The older stock is being marked down to 75% off so be sure to look for purple and white tagged items for more discounts. I really love using the poses here as they’re very fluid so come and take advantage of the sales before it ends on the 27th of this month.

And that’s a wrap for today. I’ve gotta dive back into those Black Friday sales. Maybe I can even claw my way to the one at Truth….

Midnight Magpie

Midnight Magpie

Hello Fab Free…we did it!!  Ripley and I had been pursuing her for days, traveling stealthily to the Flawless sim, tapping the Midnight Mania board, and waiting, patiently waiting.  Then, it happened –  we finally caught the elusive Thieving Magpie!

A Prize Worth Waiting For

When Rip and I traveled to Entice to win the Be With You dress featured in my post [HERE], we spotted The Thieving Magpie (another free Midnight Mania prize), but we weren’t successful in our first attempt at victory.  I’m glad we returned to try again, because she’s a real beaut!  A stunning shade of aquamarine, Magpie features three-quarter length sleeves, a fitted, ribbed bodice in a slightly darker hue than the satiny main fabric, and a short, flared skirt.  The Midnight Mania board where you can win this flirty dress happens to be for Entice group members only, but the group is free to join. There are also multiple group-only lucky boards with sweet, free prizes available very close by, so joining the group will yield a number of gifts.

What’s Included:

  • Fitmesh for classic avatars
  • Appliers for:  Slink Hourglass, Slink Physique, Belleza Freya, Belleza Isis, Belleza Venus, Maitreya

Brazilia Shoes

Finishing Touches

I wanted something elegant, yet uncomplicated, to accent my outfit, so I added Dusk Angel Design’s Simplicity Necklace in aquamarine.  The center gemstone echoed the tint of my frock perfectly, while still allowing it to remain center stage.  My long, braided hair, Dakota, is from Wasabi Pills.   I scooped it up quite awhile ago as part of Fifty Linden Fridays, but you can purchase it in the store with a greater variety of colors than I have, for Wasabi Pill’s regular price.  I love the loose braid with wispy tendrils of hair framing either side of my face.  Next, I donned some strappy, Brazilia sandals from KC Couture (these 75L shoes come with a customization HUD with 30 textures!), then followed Ripley to the picturesque sim, A Painter’s Link.  There, he introduced me to some tiny ducklings he had befriended.  I pulled out my phone, and snapped a few pictures as they waddled up to their mini pond in the washtub.  Aren’t they just adorable?!

A Magpie Among Ducklings

I hope today’s outfit has inspired you to create a Fabulous Find of your own.  Until my next post, wonderful readers, happy shopping!

Vintage Homecoming

SARTORIA – Franks Place Formal Suits $0L Open Jacket

Who is this guy?

For those who don’t know me, I’m Carson, FabFree’s newest AND oldest vintage blogger. I was originally hired By Renee Lowenhart in March of 2010 as the male blogger for FabFree, writing alongside Renee,  Whisper Swansong , and Farah Palmer. I also remember helping pick an upstart blogger in 2011 named Love Trill, who by the way likes to call me “vintage”… her word for old.  I spent over two years writing over 1000 posts about free and cheap finds in Second Life before I retired from blogging and SL in 2012. I’ll be sharing my finds with you once or twice a week (as opposed to once or 5 times daily, like before) and tell a few of my goofy stories along the way.

Carson’s first find.

The first find I am going to show is more for new residents who land in Second Life, because let’s be honest, after being away for four years, I’m feeling a bit newbish. When I originally landed in SL back in 2008, I was looking for others to chat with and listen to music.  One of the first places I went to was Frank’s Place Jazz Club. Having not much inventory, no Lindens and walking into a swingin’ joint with a dress code could be pretty daunting. Fortunately, this destination provided residents with a basic suit as to not draw attention to yourself (and risked being bounced) by wearing jeans and a t-shirt. Frank’s Place partnered with SARTORIA to create an updated version of the original Franks Formal Suit. This can be found just inside the main entrance to the club. Walk straight from the landing point and up the steps .

What’s in the box?

This suit for system bodies (yeah… back in the day they were just called bodies) comes with pants and two jackets, buttoned, and unbuttoned for a more casual look. also included are a pair of black dress shoes. (New Resident Tips: Because all the sliders on the shoes are all the way to the right, edit the shoes to make them look more formal and less like you raided Gene Simmons’ closet. Also, many destinations have free items, look at landing points and main building entrances.)

Nothing for the ladies?
