Strangelove

Once Upon A February 14th…

Urgh! She thought as she looked at her blind date from across the table. How in the world did I let myself get saddled in with this mook? So far, this exercise at being sociable (as her friends had put it) was going at an excruciatingly slow pace and she couldn’t help thinking about all the events and hunts and sales and fairs and gacha markets that she could be exploring at the moment instead of being stuck here. At least there was dancing. Or more to a point, one dance. The only charitable observation she could make about the whole thing was that the music had been decent enough though her partner had managed to step on her dress no less than fifteen times (she counted. really). He had been apologetic, even pretended to be interested in where she had gotten it from but when she started talking about how it was a free gift from KIB Designs for the 2nd Level Event, his eyes went glassy and distant. Not wanting to be daunted, she barreled on to say that she loved the dress’ romantic full skirt and simple color scheme; that the belted detailing was something to be admired but that only got a faint nod out of him. Worse, when she mentioned that even though the dress only came in sizes for Maitreya, Belleza and Slink (hourglass as well) mesh bodies it had an alpha layer included in the gift package so that classic avatars could try out the dress too she only received a blank look for her efforts. After that fiasco, she stopped trying. No need to tell him that the 2nd Level Event was only running until the 28th and that there were more goodies to be had.

The food here isn’t half bad. Though…is he checking his phone? Is he watching a football game on it?! She had half a mind to ask him to put the cell on the table so that they could watch the game together, at least that would put her out of her misery. The courses came and went and he surprised her by asking if she wanted to take a stroll on the boardwalk instead of just taking her home. It was chilly out but he offered her his jacket and complimented her hair. Maybe things are starting to look up. Since it had all gone downhill the last time she had talked about freebies, she bit her tongue on how the Luna Phase hairstyle was currently on the no group needed Midnight Mania board at Mello. Kept silent on how the prize package contained two variations on the hairdo (one with lovely curling horns and one without) and how you’d not only receive a hud with sixteen vivid colors for the hair but also a separate one for the horns as well that allowed you to customize your look. She bottled that all up, muttered a Thank you in return and shifted her gaze up towards the full moon. Wait. Full moon? Full…Oh no! She should have made sure. She should have specified. Oh…

Several hours later she came too, propped up against a table and with sunlight shining in her eyes. Squinting she looked around and, that’s ketchup right? Please tell me that’s ketchup. Her date was nowhere in sight. Well…not all of him. She thought with a guilty little cringe as she looked at the bloody heart sitting on the table next to her. As far as keepsakes go, she’s certainly had, stranger.

Background details

The backdrop I’m using for the picture above is out now at Chaotic Creative for the Stupid Cupid Hunt 5. For just 1L you’ll get this awesomely detailed (though very very messy) Bad Breakup Propbox. The propbox comes furnished with the table, heart, and knife as shown in the picture and a light fixing that isn’t shown and has four inbuilt poses to choose from, pictured is the one called ‘Numb’.  There are two different versions of the bloodied walls included in the prize folder, one for dark walls (shown) and the other for light walls. Permissions for the Propbox are set to copy so you can make as many versions of it as you like with a land impact of six for the propbox itself and a land impact of five for the light fixing. Chaotic Creative is certainly a store to watch. If you’re interested in more products from this merchant they have prizes for older hunts out on the counter of their main room.

And that’s a wrap. I did promise to tell you how my Valentine’s Day blind date went and I think we can all agree that it was boring to be sure. Would any of you know how to get bloodstains out though? …nevermind I need to get back to playing Resident Evil 7.  Catch you guys later! Oh and here’s a full picture of the propbox itself so you can see it in all its glory:

Ice Dreams

Ice Dreams

Nostalgia.

Things disappear in Second Life really quickly don’t they? I was going through my landmarks folder and discovered that some of the places that I used to visit have either changed drastically or are altogether gone. It was a bit of a relief to discover that Ice Dreams and the picturesque boardwalk that it’s standing on is still there. The Baja Norte sim was one of the very first sims I visited when I rezzed and I still remember trying to figure out how camera angles and windlight settings worked right in front of this little ice cream stall. Those attempts have long been bined (why I thought neon, drop waist medieval gowns were a good idea is beyond me) though I think that the results of my second attempt could certainly be a keeper.

Here are the details;

All it takes is an inspiring hat,

Being on a bit (loosely putting it) of a hat binge recently, I was pleasantly surprised to discover that the updated Fabulously Free In SL group gift from Belle Epoque was a simple yet elegant straw hat. It was as if I couldn’t get it out of the box fast enough, oohing and ahhing all the way at its pretty textures and the white ribbon detailing around its crown. It added a nicely feminine touch especially when paired together with the green leaves and lovely white carnations that sit on one side of the hat’s brim. To get a little bit more technical about things, the hat comes with a nifty resizer script and permissions are set to copy so that you can make as many backups as you want.

Well, it looks like I’m ready to keep the sun out of my eyes this upcoming Spring; and all for free too as there is no cost to join the Fabulously Free in SL group. Just wear your group tag when clicking on the vendor and you’ll be good to go. Still hazy on how to join the group? Visit this page {HERE} and take a step closer to collecting all the free gifts that we have on our listing.

A generous gift card,

Last Friday, Pru did a post about FabFree Designer Ollie’s Follies and my curiosity was piqued when I saw that they were offering a 100L gift card on their midnight mania board. She went on to detail that a group tag was not needed to smack the board and with a very low goal (10!) to lock the it, I couldn’t resist popping down to give it a tap as well. With my free gift card in hand I explored Ollie’s Follies further and found not a few things that caught my fancy. Foremost was the Lysa dress which comes in an array of colors and prints (pictured is the pale blossom color). The style of the dress, with it’s V-shaped neckline and belted waist went quite nicely with Belle Epoque’s Straw Hat and the girly look I was going for. The Lysa dress comes in five standard mesh sizes, though there are sizes for mesh bodies sold separately at the store as well, with a good alpha layer included. Usually this classic little number is priced at 150L though with my gift card activated I ended up only forking out 50L for it which was just wonderful. While you’re there at Ollie’s Follies don’t forget to grab your Fabulously Free in SL group gift as well!

Great weekly deals,

It’s 50 Linden Fridays again! There’s a great group of designers for this round that will surely leave you spoiled for choice. I’ve never missed on getting a hair pack from Wasabi Pills every time they participate in 50 Linden Fridays and this week was no different. The side swept Olivia hairstyle was a great whimsical fit to today’s outfit and comes with a Hud of 7 varied colors to choose from.

The second item I picked up from this week’s 50 Linden Fridays was the Kismet socks from Luxuria. These delicate over the knee socks with its pretty lace fringe comes in eight solid colors (white shown in picture) and can be used by most avatars as it comes in the following sizes:

  • System layer for classic avatars
  • Appliers for Maitreya, Slink and mesh bodies compatible with the omega system.

If you’d like either item for your virtual inventory, it’s highly recommended that you do so quickly as these deals are available for Friday only.

And a ton of likes.

Remember those heels from Essenz that I blogged about a couple of days ago (hint hint)? Well, since achieving 2500 likes on Facebook, the store is giving away a set of the Paris heels in neutral colors for free! While I already own the shoes in those lovely pink shades, it’s pretty great to receive additional colors for it. The gift package includes sizes for Belleza, Maitreya and Slink mesh feet with a shoe base to help with the fitting. There’s also an easy to use Hud which lets you switch between three colors for the main body of the shoe as well as its sole and fittings. Congratulations Essenz! Hurry down to the store to grab your pair today as these heels are only available until the 19th.

And that’s a wrap. The sun’s going down on Baja Norte and I should go and see if those walruses in the distance would like to share an ice cream cone or four with me. Catch you later and have fun out there guys!

Candy Girl

Candy Girl

Sugar, ah honey honey

Once upon a time, I had a whole list of ideas (because I’m a dork like that) for themed posts that I could do leading up to Saint Valentine’s Day. Since things have sure taken a sharp swerve into busy between then and the present, I figured I’d just have enough time to at least honor my most favorite aspect of February the Fourteenth. Forget about flowers or jewelry or even -shudder- dates, this Valentine’s (like every other before it) will be all about that sweet, sweet sugar rush. In lieu of simply wearing a sign that declared to all the (virtual) world my love for cookies, cakes, chocolates, and candy, I looked towards the Fabulously Free in SL Group Gift Listing for some inspiration and free gifts. Needless to say, there was one that stood out in the form of La Boheme’s updated group gift. My picture doesn’t really do it any justice but the delicate heart and vines motif that is drawn on each nail is very reminiscent of the icing on the prettiest confectionaries. The gift package includes:

  • LB Crush Gold Manicure and Pedicure Set for Slink and Omega hands
  • LB Crush Silver Manicure and Pedicure Set for Slink and Omega hands
  • LB Crush Gold Manicure set for Maitreya hands
  • LB Crush Silver Manicure set for Maitreya hands

Manicure and Pedicure sets for Slink and Omega hands are done separately, so if you’ve been wanting that subtle difference between fingernails and toenails, this is it. For a closer look at the mani and pedi sets, have a look at Love’s post {HERE}

You are my candy girl

Fully aware that it’s a rare thing indeed to find a hat that speaks both to my love for odd headgear and my sweet tooth, there was no way that I’d pass on this Valentine’s Day freebie by June Trenkins. The vibrant pink of the Bubblegum hat is made even more eye-catching due to the riot of prismatic bubblegum balls that decorate it. While snapping this picture, I was so very tempted to reach up and snap off one of them to pop into my mouth. While the Bubblegum hat is not resizable, you can still move it up and down or side to side along your point of attachment for a better fit. Permissions are set to copy so that you’ll be able to make as many backup copies as you like.  I’m not sure how long this freebie will be up for so if you fancy it, best hurry and grab it for your hat collection.

And you got me wanting you

February has really become a month for reds and pinks, hasn’t it? Not that I’m complaining as it’s really interesting to see the use of different shades in the many gifts and freebies found on the grid this month. Personally, I wouldn’t have considered pink footwear (unless they were sneakers of the hot pink variety) but the latest group gift from Essenz has really changed my mind. Not only do the bows on the Paris heels make a sweet twist to the open toe style, they also come in a choice of three perfect shades of pink (shown here in Bubblegum). The easy to use Hud also lets you customize the metals of the shoe so you can personalize it your heart’s content. The Paris heels come in sizes for Maitreya, Belleza and Slink feet with a shoe base to help with the fit. The Essenz group has a 350L join fee but the Creator is very generous and their group gifts never disappoint.

Candy Girl Headshot

And you got me wanting you.

One of the first things I did as soon as there was a lull in ‘busy-ness’ was visiting one of my favorite skin stores. The Midnight Mania boards at 7 Deadly s{K}ins change out fairly regularly and on my last foray, I managed to get the Renske system skin pack off one of the Midnight Mania boards. As always when it comes to prizes from 7 Deadly s{K}ins, the Renske prize package was very generous and contained:

  • 7 system skins with cleavage/no cleavage options in the tones: Apricot, Chestnut, Cotton Candy, Powder, Pineapple (shown), Sand and Taupe.
  • Omega body appliers with cleavage/no cleavage options for all tones stated above.
  • Slink Hands and Feet appliers for all tones stated above
  • Tango and Phatazz appliers.

Midnight Mania boards are open to group members and this month group members will also have access to the Valentine’s Day Advent that runs from the first to the fourteenth of February. If you’re only hearing about this now, don’t worry as past gifts, aside from two I believe, are still available to you until the fourteenth. Right now the group join fee is 1000L but there’s always waiting for it to dip again if you’re not already a member and the store does hold free join exercises quite often. I just love the impish, sultry look on Renske. 7 Deadly s{K}ins have never disappointed and they’re certainly a store to watch.

And that’s a wrap. If the song’s stuck in your head I truly apologize. At least it’s catchy right?

Fab Free Designer Friday – 1/20/2017 – PoshTale

PoshTale
Hello There Fab Free’rs! Thanks for coming by. It’s been a long Friday so I am happy to end the day on a positive note and tell you about another of the Fabulous Fab Free Designers, PoshTale. This quaint shop is decorated with a little bit of renaissance flair that lends its self to the modern fantasy style of clothing you’ll find in the shop. There are even a pair of handsome suits of armor at the entrance. Most items are ladies mesh clothing, though you’ll find some applier clothing as well. I also came across one or two mens items. PoshTale describes their own style as fantasy fashion, and I think that holds true for most of the items, however many of the styles are modern enough to be worn in an every day setting.

At the landing point pictured above, you’ll find three cutely packaged group gifts sitting on the counter. The PoshTale is FREE to join, making these gifts completely FREE as well. You’ll also see an ad for a FREE gift available at the Womens Stuff Lounge. Just click the photo and you’ll be given a landmark to the Womens Stuff Lounge where you can pick up the gift PoshTale has there.
PoshTale Boards & Gifts
There are also several other opportunities for FREE gifts at PoshTale. Of course my personal favorite of which is the Fab Free exclusive group gift. Yes, I know I am biased, however this FREE gift is quite lovely. It was previously blogged by Kathryn here. You will of course need to wear your Fab Free tag to collect this gift. Just above the Fab Free gift at PoshTale you’ll find a Midnight Madness board. Also present is the usual wall of information showcasing the store affiliations. Finally you’ll not want to miss the lucky boards. There are four lucky boards just around the side of the front counter. Whether you’re looking for something for role play or want a little whimsy in your wardrobe, PoshTale is the shop for you!

Sun in my eyes

Sun in my eyes

All bright and shiny

Was it just me or did the weekdays feel exceptionally long this time around? It’s probably no use dwelling on things as time would certainly be better spent looking forward to the upcoming weekend. I’m not the only one either as Commander’s been pretty well behaved recently (not that there’s any carpet left for him to chew up) and even the spotty weather seems to be giving way to bright sunshine. Not wanting to let such a golden opportunity slip me by, I snuck in some time to practice doing headshots and to, of course, bask in the warmth.

Fridays made even better

Back when I was very very very new to Second Life, I heard about Fifty Linden Fridays and being the silly goose that I am thought that there was some place giving out 50 lindens every Friday. A little investigation proved that things were way better than I thought as this weekly shopping event always seemed to be filled with a diverse number of high-quality items that are going for just 50 lindens. I discovered some of my now favorite stores through FLF, an example of this being Wasabi Pills. For today’s current round of FLF, the store is offering the Vic hairstyle something that I snapped up right away for it’s cute and messy vibe. Don’t you think it’ll pair off really well with your slouchy outfits or if you’re going for that ragamuffin look? Anyway, the Vic hairstyle is non rigged mesh hair which means that it came be resized and repositioned. Permissions are set to copy so you can make as many backups as you want. Personally, I had no problems at all fitting the hairstyle and had a good deal of fun deciding between the two bangs options (style A)  included in the package. Also included is an alpha layer and two different huds; one to control the color of the hairstyle and the other to control the color of the hair accessories. The Vic hairstyle will only be out on sale today so don’t hesitate to get your copy.

Smack!

It’s been a good long while since I’ve given any midnight mania board a good tap. Since the holiday rush has now become a thing of the past, I’ve gotten into the habit again and discovered that WoW Skins has added a new Midnight Mania board to its already generous lineup. This MM board is open to the public and currently, contains the Nour skin in tan. In the prize package, you’ll receive two system skins (one with cleavage and the other without), a brow shape and eyebrow tattoos. Choose between black or red eyebrows or if you have a totally different look in mind there is a tattoo layer provided that completely hides the eyebrows. Nour’s youthful look was simply perfect to spend my Friday in and I was more than pleased to have been able to get it for free.

At the time of writing this post, the target numbers for the Midnight Mania boards at WoW Skins has been lowered so go and give it a good smack. While you’re there try your luck at the no group needed lucky letter chairs or if you’re inclined, join the group to gain access to all the group perks (full access to MM boards and Lucky Letters as well as all past group gifts and the current one). WoW Skins has a one-time join fee of 450L.

And that’s a wrap. I’m going to go sit myself on a lounge chair somewhere and read up on how to re-carpet an apartment.  -Sighs- A least I’ll be warm while doing it.

Scarlet Enchantress

Snapshot_003Good afternoon Fabulous readers :).  I stopped in at .PoshTale. the other day to see what was new, and I am sure glad that I stopped by because as I was scanning around I noticed that there was a new “to me” midnight mania board prize.  I gave the board a slap, and my prize was magically delivered at midnight when it locked down!

What’s The Prize?

ETA: .PoshTale. has changed their midnight mania board prize to a new gift.  Have a peek at their board instore for the new prize details!

The midnight mania board prize that I speak of is the Ovina Mesh Gown which could be worn as formal wear or even as roleplay medieval wear.  This dress comes in XXS-L mesh sizes and includes an alpha layer for those that require it.  It is not made specifically for Maitreya, but worked well with the alpha system in the HUD.  As a bonus, it also includes a texture change HUD for dress and scarf (which is attached to the dress) so you can wear this in your favourite shade.  I was feeling red today!

Be Safe Tonight!

Tonight is New Years Eve!  Be safe everyone, and best wishes for the coming year!

Fab Free Designer Friday – 12/23/2016 – Kamiri

Kamiri DownstairsOnce again it’s Fab Free Designer Friday, and today’s featured designer is Kamiri! This shop is a ladies clothing store, with a mix of mesh and applier clothing. The best way to describe the clothing style at Kamiri would be colorful and fun! You’ll find a lot of cute flirty outfits in bright playful colors. This store is also really great for those who like applier clothing, it’s not often you find stores with so much to offer in the way of appliers. Additionally there are tons of way to score FREE or inexpensive items throughout the Kamiri store. Since there are so many gifts and goodies to be had, I split everything up into first and second floor finds. Pictured above are just the gifts and promotions I was able to find on the first floor.

As you land in the Kamiri shop, you’ll instantly see a long table full of various group gifts. Notice the bottom photo in the collage above. The Fabulously Free  in SL group exclusive gift is there as well. You’ll see it sitting next to the Fab Free sign on the table. Wear your Fab Free group tag and get this FREE gift if you haven’t already. For a preview, check out Katheryn’s post here. Just behind the gift table you’ll see a Midnight Madness board, from what I can tell there’s no target set, and everyone who clicks the board while wearing their Kamiri group tag gets the prize. The Kamiri group is FREE to join. Also downstairs, there is a promo offer of 75 lindens for a specific color version of one of Kamiri’s newest releases. Lastly, don’t forget to check out the most recent Kamiri group gifts. They are downstairs next to the circulation desk. As if that wasn’t enough there are more gifts upstairs!
Kamiri UpstairsHeading up the stairs, you’ll be greeted by 4 lucky letter boards with short wait time between letters! You’ll also notice several areas around the room that have discounted items. Then it’s hard to miss the cute little sitting area next to the stairs. You’ll want to bring a couple of friends, the sitting area is actually 3 camping chairs, each with a different prize. You’ll want to wear your Kamiri group tag for these, which is again FREE to join. Finally, you’ll see yet another long table packed with previous Kamiri group gifts. Midnight Magpie

Midnight Magpie

Hello Fab Free…we did it!!  Ripley and I had been pursuing her for days, traveling stealthily to the Flawless sim, tapping the Midnight Mania board, and waiting, patiently waiting.  Then, it happened –  we finally caught the elusive Thieving Magpie!

A Prize Worth Waiting For

When Rip and I traveled to Entice to win the Be With You dress featured in my post [HERE], we spotted The Thieving Magpie (another free Midnight Mania prize), but we weren’t successful in our first attempt at victory.  I’m glad we returned to try again, because she’s a real beaut!  A stunning shade of aquamarine, Magpie features three-quarter length sleeves, a fitted, ribbed bodice in a slightly darker hue than the satiny main fabric, and a short, flared skirt.  The Midnight Mania board where you can win this flirty dress happens to be for Entice group members only, but the group is free to join. There are also multiple group-only lucky boards with sweet, free prizes available very close by, so joining the group will yield a number of gifts.

What’s Included:

  • Fitmesh for classic avatars
  • Appliers for:  Slink Hourglass, Slink Physique, Belleza Freya, Belleza Isis, Belleza Venus, Maitreya

Brazilia Shoes

Finishing Touches

I wanted something elegant, yet uncomplicated, to accent my outfit, so I added Dusk Angel Design’s Simplicity Necklace in aquamarine.  The center gemstone echoed the tint of my frock perfectly, while still allowing it to remain center stage.  My long, braided hair, Dakota, is from Wasabi Pills.   I scooped it up quite awhile ago as part of Fifty Linden Fridays, but you can purchase it in the store with a greater variety of colors than I have, for Wasabi Pill’s regular price.  I love the loose braid with wispy tendrils of hair framing either side of my face.  Next, I donned some strappy, Brazilia sandals from KC Couture (these 75L shoes come with a customization HUD with 30 textures!), then followed Ripley to the picturesque sim, A Painter’s Link.  There, he introduced me to some tiny ducklings he had befriended.  I pulled out my phone, and snapped a few pictures as they waddled up to their mini pond in the washtub.  Aren’t they just adorable?!

A Magpie Among Ducklings

I hope today’s outfit has inspired you to create a Fabulous Find of your own.  Until my next post, wonderful readers, happy shopping!

~ Kat (and Ripley)
