The Best Of You

Snapshot_016

 Like watching paint dry…

Sitting here waiting for my jeep to dry out (yeah, it’s still very soggy) is like watching paint dry. I’ve been trying to keep myself busy around the man cave tinkering on projects. I’ve taken a hiatus from the whole mesh head thing (let’s not go there).  I also went out on a hunt to occupy my time.  I made a few stops on The Best of You Hunt and put together an outfit that I can knock around the garage in. At AmAzInNg CrEaTiOnS I came across the Open Front Standing Collar Shirt. I found the Straight Fit Black Men’s Jeans at Dixie Designs and at Lady Dragon’s Design I scored the GreenFlo Shit Kickers. All the hunt gifts on The Best of You Hunt are $1L each.  Oh and if you are thinking about nosing around my man cave, just remember, Chomper is always on duty….

Gacha to chase away the Monday Blues

The mix of being in an experimental mood and seeing all the great Vintage Gacha Fair posts from Astrid and Love and Carson had me wondering if it was possible to brew up a look using mostly under 75L gacha prizes. Since the fair is going to be running until the 19th of this month, I figured that there would be enough time to go and take a poke around. If things didn’t go according to plan at least I would have had some amusement on a (yucky) Monday. As it turns out, though, my experiment yielded up some pretty positive results. Here are the details;

Casual historical dressing

I’ve been in some pretty fancy dresses this week and it was rather refreshing to step into a more casual (in comparison) period piece. Cut in the regency style, the Lizzy dress has pretty puffed sleeves, a flattering neckline, and an empire waist to enhance your silhouette. I personally liked the detailing on the hem of the skirt and it was nice to step out in a pretty gown without the frills of swishing silk skirts and lace. Lizzy is available at the Faida booth at the Vintage Gacha Fair for 50L per pull and you can choose from five standard mesh sizes (XXS-L) before paying the gacha machine. The corresponding alpha layer for the Lizzy outfit is available for free at the booth so don’t forget to grab that too if you do try your luck at the machine. Commons range from a trio of pretty pastel shades; blue, lavender, and cream (shown) while I do believe that rares are black, white, and red.  Just a side note, however, there was no demo (that I could spot) at the booth and I had to do a bit of guesswork and go by the standard size that I always wore.

Little lamb

One thing on my SL New Year’s resolution list was to stop buying little animals and big ones too. This was promptly broken as soon as I walked by the Jinx booth and spotted their MacSheepy gacha. They’re so adorable aren’t they? Will you look at those big eyes…awww. -ahem- Before I descend into baby talk, these cute little sheep are available for 65L per pull. I’m showing the holdy version of Giro in the picture above but there are twelve commons (six huggies and six holdies ) to be won as well as three rares and one ultra rare companion MacRamstein. All version of the MacSheepy blink their pretty big eyes and companion MacSheepy will walk around with your avatar. Jinx has another booth at the Vintage Gacha Fair as well with adorable baby goats.

Accessories

No trip to the Vintage Gacha fair is complete without snagging those awesome free gifts that merchants have out at their booths from clothing to home and garden items to accessories, I found something in the many, many gift boxes to compliment today’s outfit. The Escapade necklace in gold comes from the Fallen Gods Inc booth and is a simple yet pretty trinket to flatter any outfit historical or modern. While the necklace doesn’t come with a resize script, you’ll still be able to stretch, rotate and move it around using the edit option. Permissions are also set to copy/mod so be sure to make backups. If you poke around the other booths belonging to Fallen Gods Inc you’ll find the silver version of the Escapade necklace as another free prize.

The Vintage Gacha Fair is running until the 19th of this month so hop on over to get your free gifts and see what kind of cool stuff you’ll be able to play for.

Other gacha

Looks like the gacha bug has bitten me rather viciously as I can’t seem to stop play them even after I’ve left the fair. I picked up the Galadriel hairstyle from Fabia Hair’s instore gacha for 50L per pull (shown here in pack number 3). This flowing and romantic hairstyle is very reminiscent of the elf that shares its name. I especially like how wavey the mesh looks and was pretty pleased to discover that you’ll also be receiving the tiara accessory as well to go along with your new hair. Here’s a rundown of what’s in the prize package:

  • Two versions of the Galadriel hairstyle; one for larger chests
  • Four versions of the tiara with rigged and resize versions and shine/no shine versions
  • Color hud with six different shades to choose from for common sets (rare sets have three times that)
  • RGB hud to change up the accessory colors

A very happy birthday

If you’ve seen Pru’s Post you’d have seen that it’s 7 Deadly s{K}ins’s fourth birthday today and the store is celebrating with not only a free join exercise but a birthday market placed at the front of their store and extra mini-manias. At the market, you’ll find 4L skin boxes for both male and female and before you think they’re only for classic skins there are boxes of face appliers for the different mesh heads thrown into the mix as well. Also available are 1L gacha and an example of this is the Daisey skin shown above. Though she only comes in one tone (taupe) there are different versions of the makeups (version 5 shown) to be won from this gacha and with such a sweet face I couldn’t resist playing over and over. Common prizes come with only classic skin while rare prize packages include body appliers. It’s highly recommended that you take advantage of this free join exercise as there’s a 400L gift card up for grabs for group members and stay in the group as members get access to regular gifts as well as the midnight mania, mini mania’s and lucky chairs. The free group exercise and birthday market are open for a very limited time so don’t delay!

And that’s a wrap. I gotta get the new sheep and goat settled in with all the other animals. My place is turning into a zoo… -rubs temples- Have fun out there guys and good luck on the gachas!

Alexandra 2

Happy Friday, Fabulous Readers!  Ripley and I did some more sleuthing, and have another hunt item to share with you today.  Serendipity has hidden Alexandra, this gorgeous, formal gown as their prize for The Best of You Hunt.  Featuring shimmering black fabric, gleaming decorative trim, and a daring leg slit, this full length frock is sure to draw all eyes your way as you enter the room.  I especially love the criss-cross straps on the back, which allow for a tantalizing glimpse of skin.   It’s so elegant, yet full of sex appeal.  Best of all, you’ll only have to part with one little Linden dollar to add Alexandra to  your inventory.

For Spring

For Spring

Getting totally side tracked

To be honest, I had a more casual outfit planned for today’s post. One gown a week is already a bit much but two in a row? I was lucky that my clumsiness didn’t kick in during this latest trek to send me rolling off my perch and into some poor picnickers lunch. As it was, I was crossing my fingers as I tried out various poses in the hopes of finding one that lived up to this dress. It’s called the Queen of Spring and hopefully, I’ve struck on something aptly…majestic?

Well! -coughs- Let’s get down to those all important details shall we? The Queen of Spring gown is out now at Blue Moon Enterprise as it’s very timely March group gift. It’s available for free to all group members but if you’re not currently one and have a group slot you want filling up, the group is free to join as well. There’s a lot to love about the Queen of Spring gown, with it’s plunging neckline and dramatic leaves and violets arrangement which act as the clasps to hold the cape together but it’s the little details that I really appreciated. Like how the cool shamrock shades are just a little darker around the waist to give it a look of a wrapped bodice or how the gown, armbands, and cape are subtly dusted with a layer of shimmer. Speaking of the cape, why did flexi go ‘out of style’ in SL again? I love how soft and flowing it looks when it moves around the gown.

The Queen of Spring gift folder contains:

  • Four Standard mesh sizes (XXS-M)
  • Flexi prim cloak
  • Violet shoulder piece (front and back respectively)
  • Mesh armbands
  • Separate alpha layers for the gown itself and the armbands.

I don’t RP much, if at all and I certainly won’t be able to pull off an elf/woodland fairy/princess/queen thing but if you RP or just look great in fantasy clothing, BlueMoon Enterprise and it’s finely made wares is certainly a store that you should keep an eye on.

And that’s a wrap. Next time around I’ll hopefully be in something more modern that is if I survive cleaning out the ol’ SL inventory. Catch ya later guys! Keep your fingers crossed for me!

The simple things

Field of flowers

A field of flowers

Or at least a hut that’s filled with some. The blacksmith who owns it and his wife were rather perplexed when I asked if I could take some snapshots in this half tumbled down shack on their property but the wildflowers were just too pretty to ignore; knowing my luck my next choice would probably have been somewhere that would have given me a bad case of poison ivy. Anyways, this modest backdrop proved to be perfect for the theme that I was going for; simplicity. With a game like SL, it’s often easy to get carried away with bright colors, outrageous prints, and giant pig hats but once in a while, you’ll find a dress that’s so quietly elegant that you’ll have to have it.

I’m talking about Azul’s February group gift. More often than not empire dresses will help you achieve a very flattering silhouette and that’s exactly the case when you slip on this lovely off shoulder number. I simply adore the cut of this dress but if you’re worried about it being too simple the bodice is decorated with subtle patterns to add that little bit of oomph (do people still say oomph?) to this understated look. Neither black nor white is going out of style anytime soon so this dress is a keeper. It comes in the following sizes:

  • 5 Fitmesh sizes (XXS-L)
  • 1 Fitmesh Slink size
  • 1 Fitmesh Maitreya size
  • 1 Fitmesh Belleza size

Included in the gift package is a nifty alpha layer as well as an added flexi skirt to give you dress some flowy movement. If you’re a little bit puzzled as to why I’m talking (writing?) about February’s group gift when we’re now well into March, well, Azul has a lot (and I do mean a lot) of their past group gifts out (judging by the names gifts come on the regular as well). They’re all gorgeously designed, well made and absolutely free as there’s no cost to joining the group.

Field of flowers

Shimmer and shine

At first, I had intended to present the dress without any accessories. It’s beautiful as is and able to stand on it’s own but then I stopped by the Marketplace and came across a store called Kosh and it’s wide selection of dollarbies. The Rapture necklace and earrings caught my eye as I felt that they had a cool steampunk look to them (they reminded me of gears and bolts welded together). When I put them on, though, I discovered that the green gem in their centers was rather reflective and had and faintly glowed. It was a really nice, detailed touch. There are no resize scripts for both pieces of jewelry but permissions are set to mod and copy so you’ll be able to make backups if stretching or moving of prims go awry. The Rapture necklace and earrings cost 1L respectively and do poke around the Kosh store as they have other interesting dollarbie accessories and clothing items.

And that’s a wrap. Mr. and Mrs. Blacksmith have asked if I wanted to stay for lunch and the food smells too good to decline their offer. Let’s just hope the owls remember their table manners. Catch you guys later!

I know… I am beginning to sound like a broken Sn@tch record today, but there is just so much new exciting news at Sn@tch this week for us freebie lovers and I want to share it!  If you have seen my other two recent Sn@tch posts and have still not gone to stalk those lucky boards you might be inspired to make the trip after hearing that the Nikola Gown and Scarf Set that I am wearing in this post is also a free lucky board prize – IN A FULL FATPACK!

Forest Maiden or Posh Princess

The leafy print on the Nikola Gown & Scarf Set inspired me to accessorize it into a fancy forest maiden outfit, but I can see this item being suitable for a posh fairy princess or even very classy formal attire for a night out of dancing.

I have actually changed my clothes so many times today catching up on blog posts, that I am plum out of energy for doing forest maideny things, so I’m having a little rest instead :).

Outfit Details:

The dress and scarf are separate but are both included so you can decide to wear them together or on their own.  Everything comes in XS-XL mesh sizes and the folder is packed with colour choices!!

So Enchanting

Magical_002

A touch of fantasy.

The Tie the Knot Hunt (which runs until March 24th) is all about weddings… but I came across a free prize (in all the popular mesh body sizes plus a quality alpha) that would make not only a lovely wedding dress, but also would be perfect for roleplay. So I found myself adventuring to find the perfect setting and backdrop to show it off.

I ended up in a field of lavender wildflowers, that perfectly set off the lavender ties in the corset part of this dress. For 0L, I imagine you’ll want to pick up this beautiful gown from K&A Design too. Just stop by K&A Design and search for the wedding ring box and this lovely dress is yours free.

Sizes in the box:

  • Maitreya – Lara
  • eBody
  • Fitmesh
  • Slink – Hourglass & Physique
  • Belleza – Freya, Isis, & Venus

Bring on the Night

Bring on the Night

Hello there Fabulouses!  I hope you are having a wonderful weekend.  This week, Ripley and I happened upon a new-to-us store called Klara Original Mesh.  While I explored the shop, my bargain seeking hound padded up the stairs and sniffed out this gorgeous, full length gown, which is a free gift for members of the Maitreya, Gifts, Sales & News group (completely free to join).

Stylish Evening Attire

The Eva Night Gown features a high neck in front and a floor length hemline, paired with a dramatically draped back that offers a daring glimpse of skin.  I love the simple, elegant design, the lacey texture of the fabric, and the way the gown is slightly flared at the bottom so my feet are free to move.  In addition to this free frock, the designer also has four other gifts set out for various groups, plus 6 boards which offer generous discounts on dresses for Klara Waco Style group members.

What’s Included:

  • Appliers for Belleza, Maitreya and Slink
  • Mesh for classic avatars in XS, S, M, L and XL
  • Alpha layer for classic avatars

Off to Discover More Fabulous Finds

I love the weekends when Ripley and I are free to wander the grid to locate more fashions to share with our favorite readers.  I’m sure it won’t be long before we return with yet another budget friendly discovery.  Until my next post, happy shopping!

Wildest Dreams

Wildest Dreams

Say you’ll remember me

Have you ever had a song that gets stuck in your head? I’ve had a run in or three with those pesky earworms that make themselves right at home and refuse to leave (i.e The Song That Doesn’t End). Sometimes you’re unlucky and it’s the most inane ditty ever (i.e The Song That Doesn’t End) and other times it’s…Taylor Swift. I’ve had Wildest Dreams bouncing about the ol’ cranium for days now and it’s even inspired this post.

Standing in a nice dress, staring at the sunset babe

Thankfully, I have the Fabulously Free in SL group gift list to fall back on and didn’t have to scour the grid in search of the perfect outfit to base this post around.  There’s more than one gorgeous (I wouldn’t just use the word ‘nice’ to describe them) dress on this list and what I’ve got to show you today is called Melania + Kamiri +. I don’t usually wear gowns, on account of not being able to quite pull them off besides, last time I tried someone got eaten, but this stunning number manages to detract from my chronic awkward penguin-ness by having not a few factors going for it. With its figure hugging cut and a slit in the skirt that goes right up to the hip on the left side, the Melania gown is perfect for those dramatic moments in (second) life. The way the material is gathered to the left puts to mind Grecian draped dresses as does its intricate gold trimming. Speaking of, the deep gold tones blend in nicely with the gown’s main shades of turquoise, giving it a stately feel. If I get around to visiting SL ballrooms or role-playing, this dress would certainly be my go to pick.

Sizing details:

  • Five standard mesh sizes (XS-XL)
  • Five Fitmesh sizes (XS-XL)
  • Additional Fitmesh sizes for Belleza, Maitreya, Slink Physique and Hourglass bodies.

Included as well is a great alpha layer to help with the fitting of the dress. FabFree group gifts are as always available at no cost and you don’t have to spend any L to get your tag either. Visit this page {HERE} to get a low down on how to join up if you’re not already in the group.

Wildest Dreams (closer)

Red lips and rosy cheeks, say you’ll see me again

While makeup is great, accessories do play a part in augmenting your entire look. Once again I didn’t have to look very far for jewelry as the most fitting match came in the form of the Beloved Jewelry’s FabFree group gift. The peridot gemstones of this necklace and earrings set melds beautifully with the coloring of the Melania gown and I really like the leaf-like design on both pieces as it links up well to the flowery patterns of the gown’s golden trim. In the gift package, you’ll receive a pair of earrings as well as two versions of the necklace (one with a resizer script and one without). Permissions are set to copy so you’ll be able to make backups before embarking on any modifications. This lovely and finely crafted peridot set is free with your free group tag. If you’d like a closer look at the Peridot set, check out this post {HERE}

Even if it’s just pretend

And that’s a wrap. I have to find my way down the ground level with the sun in my eyes now. Maybe I’ll meet Mr ‘Tall and handsome as hell’ on my way down, or I could lag and face plant my way off this cliff. The latter’s more likely. See you guys later!
