Fae Maiden on a Winter’s Eve

Winter Fae 4

Happy late-Monday, Fabulouses!  I couldn’t head off to bed without sharing our latest Fabulous Find with you.  Yesterday, Ripley and I dusted off his tracking harness, and hit the trail on the Fantasy Cream V Hunt.  For only 1L each, you can seek out prizes with a Medieval/Fantasy flair. The event started on November 18th and runs through December 18th, so there is plenty of time to don your Sherlock Holmes cap, and round up some goodies for yourself.  With 34 stops on this hunt, there are plenty of gifts to be discovered.

Winter Fae Maiden

At Beyond Persuasion Designs, Ripley and I scouted out this gorgeous formal number for just one little linden dollar. The bodice of the Winter Eve’s Guardian Fae Anise gown features poinsettia flowers embroidered in gold thread, and the skirt has glimmering white panels alternating with foresty green.  Long, fur trimmed sleeves, which are optional, keep your arms from experiencing chilly breezes.  Although I usually don’t partake in role play in Second Life, I could see this gown coming in very handy for a Medieval/Fantasy sim or for holiday parties.  It is also lovely just for roaming around and looking beautiful!

What’s Included:

  • Standard mesh in XXS, XS, M, L, XL for classic avatars
  • Alpha layer for classic avatars
  • Rose and holly hair adornment
  • Optional sleeves with separate alpha

Winter Fae 3

I’ve included this close up picture to showcase the holly and rose hair piece that is enclosed with the hunt prize.  I thought it added a festive touch to the outfit, just perfect for the upcoming holiday season.  In this shot, you can also get a good look at my nail polish, which is another 1L find.  Leap of Faith is offering this Slink manicure/pedicure set as a 1L Christmas gift in their Marketplace store.  I brushed on the gradient red to green glitter, but the package also includes 5 other polish options.

Thank you for taking the time to read my blog post.  Ripley and I are off to seek out new Fabulous Finds to share with you.  Until next time, wonderful readers, happy shopping hunting!

Court of Owls

Court of Owls

Oh, that lag…

So far my first ‘Black Friday’ experience in Second Life has been fun and quite hectic. My full body alpha has never gotten so much use before and even then there were times when I couldn’t outrun the lag monster. Only in SL can you shop while being half trapped in a wall (lol). Anyway, these offers listed today are time sensitive but if you have a moment to spare check out the Black Friday and Cyber Monday event. Most of these stalls are offering roleplay centric clothing but if you’re not an active role player like me (still on that bucket list) it’s still worth taking a peek to snap up some interesting pieces for your wardrobe. For this event, merchants have 30-35L items for Friday and half price items for Monday, though the vendors are set up through the event so don’t worry if you’re just teleporting in now to get your Friday items. What’s more, there’s a gacha market at the event as well and most of the stalls have a free gift out for visitors.

A girl and her owl

For the picture above I’m wearing the free gift from Pekas Gorean and Urban Designs. The Love and Roses gown come in four standard mesh sizes (XS, S, M, XL) with an alpha layer to stop any bits from sticking out. I really love that full skirt and the rippled folds going down its sides are a very pretty detailing. You can never go wrong with the black and white combination and I adore the chalky flower patterns on the skirt and train of this gown.

My graphics card has been a bit grumpy as of late, as you might have noticed as I haven’t been sim hopping as much as I want to. Taking pictures in a box in one’s backyard can get a little lonely so I decided to add this little guy into the mix for today to keep me company. He’s from the Queen of Peace pose set by Belle Poses and is available for at the Black Friday and Cyber Monday event for 35L. There are six elegant poses in the pack and you’ll get six different owls as well so there’s no need to fuss with the position of your feathered friend. He’s so cute that I might just rezz him for fun around the house though I hope the cats don’t try to eat him.

Another day another hair sale

Looks like I haven’t gotten my fill of hair sales after the first day of the Black Friday run. In all honesty, though, I had thought to hang my hat up and then saw that Ayashi was having a 30% off sale for its hairpacks and 50% off on gachas. Seeing that gachas are one of my biggest weaknesses I was off like a shot and picked up the Rumi hair for 50L. That the gacha machine gave me the pink set was just a bonus! The hair sale at Ayashi ends on the 28th.

Court of Owls headshot

Skin deep

I was pretty pleased to find that one of my favorite skin stores, WoW Skins was participating the Black Friday and Cyber Monday event. I picked up the Ines skin for just 30L and was pleasantly surprised to discover that it contained six skin fatpacks in five tones. There are cleavage/no cleavage options for each skin as well as appliers for Slink, Lolas and Phat Azz included in the package. What’s more, there are two freckles tattoo layers included as well, making me a very happy shopper.

All about that bling

Full disclosure, I’ve never really worn very many accessories in world. I always vow to punch up my outfits a little bit more with bracelets or earrings or necklaces and then turn around again to grab that full body alpha layer because I’m going to an event. The perils of lag and blogging amirite? Looking through the various free gifts that I picked up at the Black Friday and Cyber Monday event, however, I found a beautiful jewelry set by Footpaw industries. It includes a tiara, earrings, bracelets, two hair accessories and a necklace. I’m only wearing the necklace in the picture above and thought that it’s glittery diamonds and artistic design made the entire outfit more refined.

And that’s a wrap for today dear readers. Have fun inworld and stay safe!

Last Days of November

Last Days of November

A Special Anniversary.

Glitterati is celebrating its 8th anniversary, and as a gift to loyal group members, Sapphire Teebrook has set out a special 8th Anniversary gown as a group gift. As a group member, I picked up the group gift (there are lots of past group gifts still out) and donned it before setting out to do a little exploring.

The gown was an easy fit, coming in a variety of sizes that will fit just about any body, including:

  • Standard sizes XS – SL
  • Fitmesh
  • Maitreya
  • TMP
  • Slink – Hourglass and Physique
  • Belleza – Freya, Isis, and Venus

A Jaunt by the Water.

Most of the trees have lost their leaves where I live, and I was enchanted when I stumbled across this little sim called “Yasmina.” I stopped by a stone gazebo where I had a perfect view of small fishing boats and the autumn trees and was able to catch a picture with a tree that happened to match my dress. As a child, I used to fish in boats on family ponds, very similar to the boats you see in this picture, so the little stop at this sim was a pleasant one for me.

Last Days of November 2

A few final touches.

I always appreciate a few final touches, and though this dress doesn’t need much to dress it up, I thought that a few little things added some class to it.

I picked up a FREE tester lipstick off of the Marketplace by alaskametro in a warm brown color called Cashew. Free testers are a great way to add to your make up palate without breaking your budget, and if you like the results, you can always buy the full version (in fact, I recommend you do, as it’s a great way to support the creator). This tester included a system layer for system heads, as well as huds for Lelutka, Loudmouth, Omega, TMP, and Slink.

And bracelets too.

I also nabbed a pair of matching wooden wrist cuffs. One of my favorite jewelry stores is no longer on the grid, but you can still pick up items off Marketplace from ECCO jewelry. I happened to find that ECCO had a promo for these beautiful wooden wrist cuffs on the Marketplace for just 10L and I couldn’t resist. I felt they suited my autumnal mood… and were a nice finishing touch to a beautiful morning.

Happy travels to you all. Be sure to stop by Yasmina. It’s a beautiful sim for visiting or photography!

Through the Woods this Black Friday

Into the woods

Sn@tch up your fishing rods folks, the tides are coming in again!

I was just talking to Kathryn the other day about the fishing prizes at Sn@tch and she commented on what an avid angler I’ve become. It really isn’t hard to get hooked (ha ha) on fishing for prizes as Sn@tch changes out its prize outfits on the regular and they never fail to contain a wide variety of clothing pieces so that you can play around with different looks. Not only that but accessories, makeup and footwear are often thrown into the mix that you can wear with other items in your inventory. The latest Fish 4 This outfit is called Through the Woods and generously contains;

  • Five system snowpants in plum, red, green (pictured), teal and white
  • Snowpants mesh cuffs
  • Two system turtleneck sweaters in grey (pictured) and black
  • Five mesh tops in army (pictured), black, plum, red and teal
  • Mesh Fur Coat
  • Ankle boots
  • Though the Woods makeup tattoo layer in plum (not pictured)

If you have a mesh body or head never fear as you can catch the Omega applier for all the system and tattoo layer parts of the outfit from the prize filled waters. The mesh tops and fur coat come in both come in five standard mesh sizing (XS-XL) with an added fitmesh size for the fur coat and respective alpha layers to help with the fitting. Speaking of alpha layers, one is included for the ankle boots as well and you don’t need to have mesh fit to be able to slide these beauties on. Whew! That’s a ton of detail but I had a lot of fun figuring out the color combinations and there are already a few dresses that I have in mind that would go wonderfully with those boots. Fishing at Sn@tch is completely free but you do need to purchase a basic fishing rod for 100L to get in on the fun. Rods are available on the marketplace or at the Sn@tch store. It’s a great investment as you’ll get a lot of mileage on these outfits so to speak and since it’s Sn@tch, it’s top quality!

Into the woods (bonus)

While I was there…

Alright, alright I’ll admit that fishing is not all I do when I’m at Sn@tch. If you’ve been to the store you can’t really fault me for that as there are a lot of great outfits lining the walls. What’s more that are lucky boards to stalk and riot vendors to keep your eyes on so I had great fun multitasking and packing my wardrobe with great clothes from Sn@tch. The gown pictured above is new on their riot vendors and something that I just had to share. I got it for 55L as the store was pretty packed that day and when I opened the package up, I was floored by the options. First of all, you’ll get this glittery and flowing floor length skirt in five standard mesh sizes (XS-XL). Secondly, the strappy and backless top comes in eight different colors and five standard mesh sizes as well (XS-XL). Thirdly, there are also two different alpha layers included in the package to play around with. The subtle dusting of glitter on the skirt and the rhinestones that line the neckline of the top add a glamorous air to the whole outfit. Not only do I intend to wear this for upcoming parties this Chrismas but it’s also given ideas on a new blog segment as well (hmmm). Bring a friend or ten to Sn@tch today and pull those prices down, down, down to get the Gala Sparkling Brocade Gown into your inventory as well.

So you may have noticed…

So you may have noticed that I’m wearing a different hairstyle in each picture. That’s because of Black Friday and the insane number of sales that are going on right now. The offers that I’m about to list down are time sensitive as they end today but there’s nothing like a bit of rushing to get that adrenaline pumping I’d like to say. In the top three pictures, I’m wearing hairstyles from Doe that is having a 50% off sale for all of its Gachas. Playing a Gacha from this store has always been a staple for me at Gacha events so I was over the moon excited. Doe always has the cutest hairstyles and their colors are always so vibrant.

In the bottom two pictures, I’m wearing hairstyles from Besom. The store is marking down its hair packs to 75L and I took the opportunity to fill up the gaps in my Besom hair collection. I’ve always been a fan of the wonderful texturing of Besom hairstyles and their styles have an urban flavor to it yet still look so elegant. Hurry down to both stores to take advantage of these great deals maybe we’ll bump into each other as I’m certainly making the trip back.

7 Deadly s{K}ins is going to be having free group join starting from the 28th of November! I can’t say enough how much I love the skins from this merchant and they always have such great perks for their group members. Not only are there regular monthly group gifts, there are also Midnight Mania and Mini Mania boards as well as Lucky Chairs. While browsing through their Black Friday Sale (60% off CasperVend items!) I managed to claim the Libra skin for myself. I’m been eyeing this skin set for so long that I was jumping for joy to see that my letter was up. Luckily I didn’t hit the ‘discard’ button in my excitement so now I’ll be able to tell you all about the Libra skin set! In the package, you’ll receive the Libra classic skin with cleavage/no cleavage options in five different tones (Pineapple tone pictured) as well as appliers for Slink hands and feet, Tango boob, and Phat Azz. What I thought was special about this skin package was that a version of this skin in Gothic makeup is included as well. The Gothic skins come in the same five tones as well as cleavage/no cleavage options. You’ll get twenty skins in one pack as a lucky chair prize, how mind-blowing is that? Mark your calenders for the 28th and wait patiently…

You might also want to…

Check out Elephante poses. The store is having a Black Friday and Retirement sale with the entire store excluding collabs and new releases being marked down to 50% off. The older stock is being marked down to 75% off so be sure to look for purple and white tagged items for more discounts. I really love using the poses here as they’re very fluid so come and take advantage of the sales before it ends on the 27th of this month.

And that’s a wrap for today. I’ve gotta dive back into those Black Friday sales. Maybe I can even claw my way to the one at Truth….

Vintage Homecoming

SARTORIA – Franks Place Formal Suits $0L Open Jacket

Who is this guy?

For those who don’t know me, I’m Carson, FabFree’s newest AND oldest vintage blogger. I was originally hired By Renee Lowenhart in March of 2010 as the male blogger for FabFree, writing alongside Renee,  Whisper Swansong , and Farah Palmer. I also remember helping pick an upstart blogger in 2011 named Love Trill, who by the way likes to call me “vintage”… her word for old.  I spent over two years writing over 1000 posts about free and cheap finds in Second Life before I retired from blogging and SL in 2012. I’ll be sharing my finds with you once or twice a week (as opposed to once or 5 times daily, like before) and tell a few of my goofy stories along the way.

Carson’s first find.

The first find I am going to show is more for new residents who land in Second Life, because let’s be honest, after being away for four years, I’m feeling a bit newbish. When I originally landed in SL back in 2008, I was looking for others to chat with and listen to music.  One of the first places I went to was Frank’s Place Jazz Club. Having not much inventory, no Lindens and walking into a swingin’ joint with a dress code could be pretty daunting. Fortunately, this destination provided residents with a basic suit as to not draw attention to yourself (and risked being bounced) by wearing jeans and a t-shirt. Frank’s Place partnered with SARTORIA to create an updated version of the original Franks Formal Suit. This can be found just inside the main entrance to the club. Walk straight from the landing point and up the steps .

What’s in the box?

This suit for system bodies (yeah… back in the day they were just called bodies) comes with pants and two jackets, buttoned, and unbuttoned for a more casual look. also included are a pair of black dress shoes. (New Resident Tips: Because all the sliders on the shoes are all the way to the right, edit the shoes to make them look more formal and less like you raided Gene Simmons’ closet. Also, many destinations have free items, look at landing points and main building entrances.)

Nothing for the ladies?

Frank’s Place also has a free black dress for the ladies, but I just don’t have the legs to pull off that gown.🙂

SARTORIA – Franks Place Formal Suits $0L Closed Jacket

What’s next for Carson?

I’m hoping you all join me on my journey to create Carson 2.0. In the coming posts I plan on slowly transforming myself to a version that isn’t made with four years old parts. But then again, some people will always call me “vintage”.

Better in a Black Dress

Black Widow
Hello again, Wonderful Readers!  Earlier this week, I was startled to hear a rummaging sound emanating from my closet.  When I turned to investigate, my canine pal, Ripley, emerged, clutching his tracking harness gently between his teeth.  He pranced over to me, dropped the harness at my feet, then stood, waiting expectantly, his tail waving happily from side to side.  I knew this meant only one thing – the pupster would soon lead me to another Fabulous Find.

A-Hunting We Will Go!

After snapping Ripley into his hunting garb, I did a quick search, and discovered the intriguing Black Widow 2 Hunt is in full swing.  Packed with spooky, edgy gifts hidden along 5 paths comprised of 13 stores each, this hunt will remain open through November 30th, so there’s still a bit of time left for you to don your detective hats, and hit the trail.  Rip and I opted to begin with the “Black Veil Path.”  At the first stop, Kastle Rock Couture, I showed my fashion-seeking hound a picture of the hunt object (the “Spider’s Kiss” vial), and he quickly set off, nose to the ground.  After zigzagging around the store, we finally uncovered the cleverly concealed bottle.  For only 2L, the stunning Black Widow Gown joined my collection of formal wear.

Timeless and Beautiful Elegance

Nestled inside the prize package, I found a lovely black formal gown with long layers of organza and tulle that flowed into a full, floor-length skirt with a softly gathered bustle.  Glittering sequins shimmered in the moonlight as I slipped into the form-fitting, strapless bodice.  A sweeping train, ruffled trim, and a lacy black veil beautifully adorned the frock, adding a touch of graceful splendor.

What’s Included:

  • Omega Advanced Applier
  • Pants/shirt layer for classic avatars
  • 4 flouncy, skirt layers
  • Widow’s veil

Feeling elegant and sophisticated wearing this floaty, glittering dress, I accompanied Ripley to the plaza of the Invictus sim where we made two new avian friends.  Before closing, I want to share one last photograph with you, which showcases the magnificent train of this glorious gown.  It’s hard to believe it only cost me 2 little Linden dollars!

Better in a Black Dress
With just days left in the Black Widow 2 Hunt, we’d better get back to work.  Until next time, my friends, happy shopping hunting!

A Little Letter Writing

A Little Letter Writing

In today’s fast paced world of emails and electronic communications, I sometimes long for the printed word. This little nitch at the Paramour sim, reminded me of hand written correspondence and the beauty of an old fashioned snail mail letter.

Gizza is in for free fashion.

I think that’s why I like this November Group gift from Gizza so much. This classic suit works well not only for a modern attire, but it also has a nostalgic feel that reminds me of a bygone area. It is your FREE with your FREE group join. It comes in all the standard sizes and includes its own quality alpha layer.

Just teleport to the main-store, join the group if you are not already in it, and pick up your gift. There are a lot of past groups there for you to pick up, if you’ve never stopped by before.

Here is a preview of a few past FREE Gizza group gifts that have previously been blogged here on FabFree:

Beautiful Era

Beautiful era

Such exciting times!

Looks like the FabFree Group Gift list is growing again and I hope you’ve wasted no time in reaping all of the generous offerings. For my part, I had fun hopping from store to store and now with everything unpacked and organized (whew!) I’ve come to share one of these gifts with you plus some other free and under 75L finds. If you aren’t a part of the FabFree group yet, get in on the fun by pasting the following link into the local chat of your SL viewer secondlife:///app/group/020fa7af-444d-f54f-01e2-557ec06315fd/about and then clicking on the link. Are you all set? Great! Cause I’m ready to share!

A spoonful of sugar makes the medicine go down…

Hunting out great deals for all you lovely readers out there is not something that I would consider a chore but one look at the Tiffany dress from Belle Epoque immediately brought to mind this song from the Mary Poppins movie. Not only is the lovely lavender coloring reminiscent of candy floss, its hooped skirt and delicate lace detailing add a very feminine touch. The buttons on this dress are well-crafted, eye-catching details and I appreciate that they go right up to the dress’ high collar.  I haven’t had the chance to strike role playing off my bucket list but I imagine that this dress would be a good fit on a Steampunk or Victorian sim. The Tiffany dress comes in five standard mesh sizes (XXS-L) with an alpha layer included in the folder to help with the fitting. All you need to do to have this beautiful new addition to your wardrobe is to head on over to Belle Epoque, activate your Fabulously Free in SL group tag and click away. The dress is yours for free. While you’re there at Belle Epoque as they have other beautiful dresses with a vintage feel in their collection.

Step out in style!

I’ve paired off the Tiffany dress with boots (what else?) from Baby Monkey one of my favorite shoe stores. Sometimes it’s hard to find boots with both a relaxed and formal feel to them but I think that the Pixie boots manage to balance out these two facets really well with the studded detailing and low heel. What’s better is that the Pixie boots are made for both mesh and classic system feet. In the package, you will receive a pair for classic feet as well as pairs for Belleza, Maitreya, and Slink flat feet. Not so wicked witch…

It seems that I just can’t shake off dressing up for Halloween (lol)! Truth be told I wanted to wear one of my bunned up hairstyles for this picture but then tested out the Little Witch hairstyle from Ayashi at SaNaRae and the rest is history. There was no way I could resist this long and flowing hairstyle from its cute bangs to the well-detailed bows to the jaunty looking hat and I personally think that the style went well with the dress. If vibrant acid green isn’t your style, the Little Witch hair comes with a Hud that lets you choose from red or green shades in various tones. It also lets you customize the hat and bows and also has an option to hide the hat. The SaNaRae group is free to join so head on down to the latest round to pick up your gifts. If you’re still not convinced check out these posts {HERE} and {HERE} which showcase other gifts available for you.

An Ecko.

Last week you might have read one of Kat’s adventures with Ripley centering around the Ecko’s FabFree group gift, if you haven’t it’s {HERE}, and it got me really interested to see the store for myself. My visit reaped a couple of interesting discoveries and one of which is that Ecko is offering the Salor skin as a free subscriber group gift. I always love trying on new skins and this one with its unique tones did not disappoint. The Salor skin package comes in two classic skins with cleavage/no cleavage options as well as a hud for Belleza and an applier for Loud Mouth. There are other subscriber gifts available at the store so sign up and pack your wardrobe with goodies. While you’re there don’t forget to grab your Fabulously Free in SL group gift as well.

Giveaways!

I’ve been testing out different eyes lately and was pleasantly surprised to discover that Dulce Secrets has a giveaway for them. Shown in the picture are the Transcendental Sliver Pink eyes which you can get for free at the main store. The shine and reflection in these eyes are remarkable as is its subtle pink coloring. In the prize package, you will receive classic system eyes as well as mesh ones and an alpha layer. There is no group required to hit the giveaway boards so these beautiful pair of eyes are yours completely free!

And that wraps it up! Have fun in your explorations of Second Life and have a great day!
