Before Dawn

Why. Is. Morning. So. Early?

As you can see…  Even on the best of days I am very much not a morning person.   Most mornings, it is pure luck if I can manage to pour a cup of coffee and return the cream to the fridge instead of the cup cupboard (has truly happened so many times).  He is up at the crack of BEFORE dawn even on the weekend, puttering around in the kitchen doing whatever he does in there (on a positive note, I do smell coffee already made 🙂 ).

The Calm Before…

Pulling the covers over my head, I try to muffle out the sounds of doors creaking, kitchen cupboards slamming, and dishes clanging.  Even the dogs are grumbling and huffing with disdain of the way too early morning activity going on.  Finally I can hear him making his way to the door and I’m thinking to  myself…  “finally. silence.”.  I hear him digging out his shoes, and taking his coat out of the closet and creeping out the back door to the man cave.

The Storm…

As the door shuts behind him, the dog leash hanging on the hook beside the door falls to the ground…  My eyes squeeze shut tight instantly knowing and bracing for what was about to happen.   ALL of the dogs jump up and run around the bedroom six times, wagging and panting, collar jingling and barking with excitement, because that is all the signal they need for “It’s time for a W.A.L.K” (I spell out the word walk to avoid the craziness,  but they have learned to spell it out).  I tried calling for him, but he had already made his way out of earshot.

Sitting on the edge of the bed, I pick up the littlest one before she gets trampled on in the pre-W.A.L.K mayhem, dig up some clothes and head out for what is hopefully a very uneventful walk…  Gooood morning!

Back To Bed In My NEW Group Gift?
