  1. At least half those stores use redzone, so they can suck virtual nads!

  2. It’s the designer’s right to use various systems to protect their creations from copybot viewers. There are many systems like Redzone that prevent users from entering if they have ever downloaded an illegal viewer. I can fully understand why a designer would want to prevent entry of people using illegal viewers past and present.

  3. Blacklace has 3 gifts out a 20L a 11L and a 0L along with their other free gift which is always out. 😀 Seldom Blue has two 0L one upstairs and one down.

    Thanks for the post!

  4. There ARE many reasons, but you haven’t mentioned the most sinister one, that they are invading privacy of people who aren’t stealing from them and exposing peoples alts.

There’s even rumors of a site where people can pay $20 to see the lists of avatars on IP’s. What’s more is that it’s not even accurate, for eg. a pc used on a uni campus or say an internet cafe, someone using that station could log into sl using a copybot then another person using that station innocently can get banned simply by having that address.

It’s completely inaccurate with the all false positives.

  5. Redzone only fakes a feeling of security with its claim of blacklisting copybots (it doesn’t scan for viewers, but for IPs via media streams, if activated) and while infringing on various concepts of privacy of data, along with the thought of “guilty until proven innocent”. Sadly, it’s ultimately up to to one single person – the one who profits from the claims of effectiveness – to play judge, advocate and law enforcement, because that one person is looking after their database of who is supposed to be whose alt.

It’s nothing but a money making tool for the creator – or perhaps, was. The system was analysed and with the use of one single script, basically every avatar in SL can be linked to any known and blacklisted ripper, marking them as the ripper’s alt and thus ban innocent people all over the grid.

Please see http://no2redzone.wordpress.com/ for more detailed explanations.
