FabFree – Fabulously Free in SL

Simply Fabulous Free and Under L$75 Finds in Second Life – Since 2007

Something Different..

Like as lot of people in Second Life, I like to dress up (no surprise there.. right?), and like a lot of people, I like to explore realms and personae that are impossible to explore in real life.  No, I’m not talking about the seamy underground (unless you are talking about Drow of course), I’m talking about the fantasy characters we’ve all read about or imagined being when we were children: Mermaids, Elves, Fairies ..stuff like that.

There are so many places to pick up fantasy props, costumes, even entire avatars.  The first one I’m going to show you is one that I’ve actually had for a long time. it’s a good quality mermaid avatar from Bonny Cove that is available for free. There are two offered: one for females and one for males. Bonny Cove is one of the best Mer sims in SL. There are lots of places to explore, pose balls to take pictures with, dolphins to swim with, etc. I find myself going back there over and over to enjoy my inner mermaid.

The free mermaid avatars are available at the landing dock when you arrive. Have fun exploring the deep blue! There are tons of good quality sims that are mer themed, or that have an area for mer folk, and divers in the more ‘realistic’ underwater sims are always thrilled when they are able to spot a mermaid or merman.

Note: The skin I’ve worn below is Calamity Nimm and  the hair is from Sanctum, both have been previously blogged in Fabfree. Mer Pose is part of the dollarbie pack of Mermaid Modeling Poses from Imperial Elegance, and is no longer available.

Staying with an aquatic or seafaring theme, rezzable has placed some very cute full Greenie avatars in two lucky chairs – one for males and one for females, this time it’s Greenie pirates.  Can you say. “Arrrrr, mateys!” in Greenie? The letters change frequently enough to make waiting worth while — these avatars are marked as 350$L in the Greenie avatar shop. There are several greenie avatars avaliable, and I think I might just have to go back and pick up that cute little mermaid Greenie.

Now that you know where to get a Greenie pirate avatar, you’re all set to go out there and plunder both seafaring ships and space ships. I just love clothes that are versatile.

The Greenie shop is a little more difficult to find, the teleport doesn’t place you directly at the shop, but on a table in the Greenie sim. Directly across from the table you can see the shop. Jump from the table to the floor, walk across to the plank, and walk up the plank to get into the shop. The shop is the olive green building you see on the floor.

I know these are a bit different from the usual elegant freebies you see here, I hope you enjoy! I’ll be posting more like these in the future.

  1. Just for the record, the Pirate Boy lucky chair currently seems to be set up incorrectly, so both chairs give out the pirate girl avatar now.

So you have a double chance currently to get your letter 😉

  2. I have looked everywhere for the skin Calamity Nimm at Korova Milk Bar. It must have been a temporary thing. And of course, I missed the hair at Sanctum when it was free. You certainly put together one wonderful mermaid!

  3. Thanks for the information, Varg.

    Thanks Harris!

I checked at Sanctum this morning, and the dollarbie version of the Heba hair is still available. TP to Sanctum, and go upstairs, the dollarbie version is available in black and silver only, and is located just to the left of the other hair.

You could be correct about the skin, it might have been a limited time offering — it’s been in my inventory for a while. Although any skin will work for a mer, personally I prefer to use skins in the cool colour range (blues or greens), there are some available for free around the grid. Goth or light drow skins also work well. Fabfree HQ has a good goth skin available for free.
