The Many Facets of Prism

I’d like to join with Love in offering my deepest sympathies to all who were affected by today’s terrible tragedy in Connecticut. I have a little one at home myself, and I can’t even begin to comprehend what those parents and families must be going through right now. So very sad.

Sigh…

Many stores on the grid are quite generous with group gifts and hunt prizes, and Prism is certainly one of those stores. Every time I visit, I’m amazed at all the fabulous gifts. Above, I’m wearing Holly, one of the December group gifts. It comes with the pants, belt, and lovely brocade corset. The Prism group is free to join.

I’m not typically a “freckle person,” but I really think this skin looks pretty with my red hair (confession: I added a bit of lip gloss). The Al Vulo group is also free to join. Actually, I think I’ll wear this luscious Lucia dress, which is Prism’s Peace on Earth Hunt gift. I love the sparkly shrug over the plunging, green top. Yummy! My sky-high pumps are a lucky board prize from Baby Monkey… can you believe that I walked into the store thinking, “come on, mama needs a new pair of red pumps,” and there was a big S on the board! That almost never happens to me!

As much as I love dressing up for a party, I also enjoy relaxing in a comfy sweater and jeans. This Funky Christmas Tree Sweater is another group gift from Prism. I’ve slipped on the cute Bally flats from Lindy’s Peace on Earth Hunt prize (there’s also a pair of black heels in the box), and have taken off my lip gloss, so you can see my skin in it’s pristine state.

Collabor88ing With Sascha’s

Like Love, I also have a holiday party to attend tonight, but mine is a bit more formal. After finding nothing to wear amid the 48,000 or so items in my wardrobe, I headed straight over to Sascha’s Designs and picked up the December group gift. As usual, Sasha’s did not disappoint! This dress is a beautiful dark burgundy satin, with black beading and embellishments on the bodice. It comes with an optional shoulder wrap, which I’m wearing here. There is a 50L fee to join Sascha’s group, but there are years’ worth of gowns for you to snap up!

Without the shoulder wrap, you can see that the back and sides of the dress take a sexy plunge, showing juuust enough to be a little bit daring, yet still classy. The train comes with a resizer script, but I decided to leave it long and flowy for some extra drama. I’ll probably have to shorten it for tonight so I don’t trip everyone up on the dance floor!

My gorgeous skin is by Glam Affair, and is one of the three Amberly “Frostbite” offerings at the current round of Collabor88. While not free, it is only 188L, a heck of a deal for such an amazing skin. Note that I’m wearing it with Glam Affair’s optional cleavage tatoo layer because, well, I thought this neckline demanded a little “something more!”

My hair is by D!va, also offered at Collabor88. I love the way the wispy strands fall casually around the face and neck. The hair comes in 2 styles, and has a looong, mesh side ponytail as an optional attachment. You can even wear it with or without the bun. My elegant snowflake jewelry is the Peace on Earth Hunt prize from Ear Candy, and offers just enough bling to draw attention to my… ahem! Moving on… my clutch purse is from Duh! (25L), and has a color-changing script with 5 different colors and 3 metals.

Hello World!

“Hello World” is the dorky title that WordPress gives every new blog as a sample post, but I thought it was appropriate for this post, for a variety of reasons.

So… hello Fabulouses! As I was leaving this lovely cafe – late as usual – I got a call from Renee Lowenhart inviting me to join the FabFree team. Of course I said yes, but after I hung up, I had to sit down and hyperventilate for a few minutes. I mean, I’m just a small-town girl who likes to “play dress up.” What do I know about fashion? How am I going to know what to write? How am I going to know what to wear???

[breathe in... breathe out... repeat... repeat...]

Ok, better now. I’ll admit that I’m still a bit stunned and nervous, but the folks here at FabFree have really gone out of their way to make me feel welcome and at home (thank you!). I apologize that some of the items I’m wearing in this post are no longer available for free (I went back and checked)… I originally did this picture about a week or so ago, and decided that I liked it and wanted to share it with you anyway. I promise that I’ll do better next time, and my next post will have more freebies!

My outfit, I’m happy to say, is available from Purple Moon as their With Love Hunt prize. I love, love, love the texture of the suede skirt and the way the shirt drapes so naturally.
