Free as a Dove

Not long ago, a reader IM’d me to say that The Free Dove had added quite a few new designers and items. The Free Dove is a store with the new resident in mind; everything in the store is free, and you can find just about anything a new resident might need. Of course, I’d been to The Free Dove before, but not in quite a while, so I thought I’d head over and see what was new. I was so pleased to find that there are indeed many new designers and items, including some who are probably on your list of favorites! I picked up this sexy leather leggings and jacket combo (includes belt and ruffled choker) by Indyra Originals, and a few other items that I’ll probably show you later.

I got a notice this morning that {{BSD Design Studios}} had opened up their VIP group for free membership for a short time, so I stopped by and joined, and picked up the May group gift: this gorgeous pair of grey croco shoes. They come with a skin/nail HUD which is pretty easy to use. It was not specified in the message as to how long the group would be free to join, but I believe it will be at least until the end of the week. Don’t delay though; they offer great group gifts, and now’s the time to get in for free! Oh, and while I was there, I picked up this red croco bag, which is a free gift for AVENUE Magazine Readers (free to join).

My skin is called Emilia, and is another that was in the box I told you about last week for new Cupcakes subscribers. Emilia comes with 10 different lipsticks, 4 types of cleavage, and 2 pairs of eyes. Oh, and you can pick up this scrumptious hair by D!va at this month’s round of Collabor88. If I were wearing this dress in real life, I’m certain that I would not be prancing through a meadow with deer. However, when I’m taking photos with my RL daughter hanging over my shoulder yelling, “Mommy, Mommy, DEER! Take a picture of the deer! You HAVE to take a picture of yourself with the deer,” then you take a picture of yourself with the deer. So… here we are. Me. And deer.

And a gorgeous gown from Sascha’s Designs! Sascha’s gives a new, different gown to group members every, single month. Plus, past years’ gowns are still out, yours for the taking! Isn’t that worth the 100L join fee? I think so! The skin I’m in today is Charm/Snow by Cupcakes, and is part of a huge gift for signing up for their subscribo. This particular skin comes with black, blonde, brown, and red brows, 4 lipsticks, teeth and freckles tattoos, and a set of eyes. And let me dispel a myth: Cupcakes is not closing. They are retiring their full permission developer kits, but will still be selling the Cupcakes brand of skins. It’s all good.

A few days ago, reader Jadelynne mentioned that you can wear the new Slink Nail Appliers without mesh hands, and I’m happy to say that she’s absolutely right! Behind the mesh hands display at Slink is a vendor for Slink Mesh Nails (150L). The nails auto-fit to your hands, and you can use all of your Slink Nail Appliers with these nails! You really can wear all those awesome, new nail appliers with or without mesh hands! Thank you, Jadelynne, for bringing this to my attention! Oh, and isn’t this jewelry gorgeous? Just little me… all alone… waiting for my ship to come in. And celebrating the arrival of spring in this stunning Aquarelle Gown in Turquoise, the latest group gift from ::PurpleMoon:: Creations. The ::PurpleMoon:: group is 50L to join, but the gifts are generous and frequent, and so worth the Lindens. After all, 20,000 members can’t be wrong, can they?

This luminous skin is Margot, the latest release from Glam Affair featured at the current round of Collabor88. I love the subtle freckles, and her wry, knowing smile. My hair, which I’ve shown before, is still available as a free group gift at “”D!va”". It comes with a dress, texture-changing flowers, and a wig with a couple of extra buns on top. I wanted to add some simple jewelry, so I went with Beloved Jewelry’s Modern Flowers in Silver set, which I found on the Marketplace for only 1L.

Looks like my ship has arrived! /me swoons…

Aidoru-1 Hundred -Damned Dolls & More Almost Free Mix!

Hello Everyone! It’s me, Leila, and I’m so excited to be a part of FabFree. I hope you all will enjoy what I bring to the blog which is pretty much everything from sexy and slinky to warm and cosy! Right now I have something on the slinky side for you all and even better, almost everything but the hair is Free. (A couple things are 10l and 25l respectively too) I made a mistake on the hair though but more about that in a minute.

Here’s a shot of the complete outfit. The outfit is mostly mesh so I hope all of you can use it.

The top is by 1 Hundred and is called Vanity. It’s a free group gift @ Designer’s Showcase. The group is free to join and I think there’s one or two other gifts around there as well. The link above points to the venue, but down below will be a slurl directly to the item.

The skirt is by a new to me shop called Damned Dolls and is a free gift at the Depraved Depot, called Seve Skirt – Blue. This is a little area set aside and various designers from Depraved Nation offer gifts. You have to join the group to grab this and the other gifts but if you click on the item, it’ll give you an invite to join and again the group is free to join.

This outfit also makes use of a set of prim nails at the Depot above. When you land you may need to follow the beacon to the Depot and right in front of you as you enter, is the Adoness set of prim nails, the Killer Queen nails in China Rose.. These are also free as a gift as are all the other items in the Depot.

Here’s a detail pic that shows a better look at the nails, the hair and the skin I’m wearing.

The skin is also a group gift, from Lara Hurley skins. Join the group and click on the picture on the wall and score this skin completely free. The group joiner is a dark sign on the right of the display for the skin.

And oh yes, about the hair. I meant to show you one of several group gifts which have been previously blogged here on Fab Free but somehow or another, I got my wires crossed and so this hair is NOT free. It is, however, really pretty. This is Zaara in Brown Diamond by D!va. (If you do want to check out the group gifts, they are on the second floor of the shop towards what would be the front of the shop)

Let me just talk about these boots for a minute. I’ve been wearing them for a few days now and I love ‘em. You get a couple different colors in the bag and in more than one size to suit every taste. They are also absolutely free as the Aidoru Swag Bag gift at the event – Hollywood. As I said above, you only have a day or so left to grab these so if you haven’t already, go go go! The necklace I’m wearing is the current group gift at Virtual Impressions. When you land at the shop it will invite you automatically to join the group which is free to join. And last but not least, I went looking for a pretty tattoo, this outfit seemed to really need a little something something. I found this Music and Butterflies tattoo from Letis on themarketplace for 25L. There’s 3 levels of darkness and all layer options included!

Epic Findings at the Spring Fling Hunt

Masoom @ The Wash Cart Sale

Have you had a chance to check out The Wash’s Cart Sale yet? Today I am featuring the Masoom Cart. This cart contains tons of goodies all priced at 10L in the way of dresses, outfits, sweaters, and more! Some are mesh, some are non-mesh. There are even a couple of pose packs available.

My favourite item on the cart… and trust me, it was not easy to choose, because I really like a few of the items, but if I have to choose – it is the Leo Outfit in Platinum shown in the top photo. I’m a sucker for partial mesh designs and this is no exception with a non mesh top that allows your personal curves to shine through and a mesh skirt that allows realistic movement.

I also wanted to mention these FANTASTIC sparkly shoes! These are not at the Wash Cart Sale and are not free, but they are located at the Acid Lily Fashion Gallery this week for 70L per pair. These are the Oz Pumps, made by even.flow and are available in several colours. This particular pair is called Tin Man.

While you guys get to hear what I think about the Cart Sales all the time, I thought it would be fun to hear what you have to say about them. I headed down there this afternoon and met several wonderful people, including Tigrezz Shamrock, who is a five year resident of Second Life. She has been a faithful FabFree reader since 2009 when a friend had passed her the URL. This was not Tigrezz’s first Cart Sale at the Wash and she can’t wait for the next one. ”It is one place to come and see all these designers without going over budget especially the mesh“, our shopaholic says.

A Jolie Fleur du Soir

Gavin is humoring me today while I “play pixie” again.

I wanted to show you this gorgeous petite dress, La Fleur du Soir, the current group gift at Kastle Rock Petites. The group is free to join, and the sim is simply lovely, so be sure to give it a wander. You can see a little peek of it behind us (please click to enlarge).

Gavin is wearing the latest group gift from *Ydea*, also free to join. Included are the mesh hoodie jacket, shirt and tie, jeans, and shoes. Gavin’s Rhett hair is a pre-opening, sneak peak from brand-new designer { Quandry }. You can pick it up at the preview price of 100L for a little while longer at {EPIC}. 5 colors are included in the box, all with a little, red tip in the front. Scarlett, a long braid, is also on preview for the ladies.

What I really wanted to show you is this skin. Aeva // Heartsick is currently having a sale, with lots of skins available for 100L each. When I saw that they were previewing a couple of new petite skins, I was intrigued, and tried the demo. Jolie Petite comes in several different shades, and includes a red, rose outfit in the box. Now, I won’t lie to you; it’s a bit of a pain putting a new skin over your petite avatar. Nothing at all like putting a new skin on your “biggie.” But it’s not hard – read the directions! – and I think the results are definitely worth it! Have you ever seen lips like this on a petite before?

My earrings are not free, but they are on sale at !ELEMENTAL PETITE for 50L. They are texture change with silver/gold metals, and 4 different gems. My hair is a free group gift from “”D!va”" (free to join; 30,000 Members Gift), and I’ve sized it waaaaay down to fit. All the “”D!va”" hairs I’ve tried are resizeable, and can be made to fit petite avatars; be sure you take a copy first. This one includes flowers, which I’m not wearing, a “wig” with a couple of extra buns, and there’s even a dress in the box!

UPDATED 2/20/13 12:37 PM SLT: Great news! The designer has put the 2 Jolie Petite skins back out for sale because so many people were asking for them! They are still for sale at 100L/per shade so hurry over and grab them. I just picked up the Black Rose version, and I can’t wait to try it. She will also be putting out a 10L petite skin at The Wash Cart Sale, which opened today and Love wrote about this morning. I haven’t seen it yet, so let me know what you think if you try it!
