Oh how I love LIV-Glam, Let me count the 17 ways!  My jaw nearly dropped to the floor when I saw their recent subscribomatic offer, and I’m about to tell you all about it, so make sure you are safely seated and brace yourself!

When you join the LIV-Glam subscribomatic (which is free!) you will be sent the 17 piece Freda Collection in their HUD system.  You wear the HUD, and click on the items you’d like to wear.  Delete them after you take them off and just keep the HUD in your inventory.  This system they are using is fantastic on my ever growing, overflowing inventory because it takes 1 spot!  I have put together 10 outfits with the pieces included to show you just how versatile this mix and match gift is!

There are mesh and non mesh pieces in the pack to please everyone!

Samira By The Sea

My RL weather is so unpredictable. Most of the time it’s foggy and cold, and I long to escape to a warm, sunny beach. Thank goodness there are plenty of those to visit in SL! Today I’ve escaped to beautiful Baja Norte in my Samira t-shirt and capris, a new group gift from Kastle Rock Couture. My studded boots are not free, but are a brand-new release from [Liv-Glam]. 25 colors are included via HUD (I ♥ HUDs!).

My necklace is a free gift from Iron Tiger Jewelry, which for those of you who like to wander, is right across from Kastle Rock Couture. My hoop earrings are a free gift from Caroline’s. Finally, as I was browsing the feeds a few days ago, I stumbled on a new-to-me skin shop called POUDRE. I quickly tp’d over, joined the free in-world group, and found this [Eva] skin in the group notices as a gift for getting 1,000 members. I was happily surprised at how pretty this skin is! It comes with or without a hairbase, and includes cleavage, teeth, and freckles tattoos. I apologize for that weird shadow on my chest; it didn’t show up on my computer screen, but mysteriously appeared in my photo, for some reason. I didn’t want you to think it was a flaw in the skin.

Friday GuyDay: For Men Only

FINALLY – a day off! I’m actually supposed to be taking Serena out for her Rez Day, but I thought I’d spend a little time relaxing at the beach first. Before heading out, I picked up these cargo shorts and tank top, the Men Only Hunt 3 gift from 22769. This hunt runs until May 31st, and all items are free. And you know how hard it is to find good free stuff for men!

Speaking of free, I’m wearing the new group gift eyes from IKON that Love showed you earlier today. Yes, guys can wear them too! Ombre my hombre!

“Drea, aren’t you colorful” was pretty much what I heard when I slid into this colorful orange, pink, and yellow She Did That Ombre fit from Lush by Coco, and ladies there is not a thing wrong with being colorful. We’re in May, and summer is just around the corner! So it’s time to shine just as bright as the sun, and let the colors splash onto the scene. All of your are fashionistas, and deserve to break necks the minute you walk into a room. This outfit right here makes a bold statement, from the mix of its colors down to the cuffs, while enhancing your curves!

To top off the look, I snagged this beautiful Joi Remy Essentials hair style from Iconic, which is available as a group gift. I love the wild curls and if you touch the headband, you can change the designs. If you’re a curly hair diva, or wanting to try a new look, make your way on over to Iconic now! From the Desk of… And PeKaS to Boot!

Greetings and permutations, Fab Freebers!

Ok, so this really isn’t MY desk.. Jac Mornington was kind enough to lend me his place so that I could log in and get some info for the Server Side Baking (SSB) stuff that you all have been hearing about. Love asked me to share what little I know on the subject with all of you since, if you’re reading this blog, you care about the appearance of your avatar  So I tossed on some clothes I picked up from the monthly gift vendor at PeKaS Urban and sat down to draft up the info. The clothes include snazzy pin-stripe pants with loosened suspenders, a tank top, sweater draped over the shoulders, and a fedora (not shown.)

Well.. time to get to it. I hope this helps. If you have any questions… please by all means, pelt Love with them (kidding!)

Linden Lab has finished working on the Server Side Baking (SSB) improvement. I am not a representative of Linden Labs nor am I an expert (except in my own mind) but I thought I’d share with you my answers to the questions that I hear most people asking:

Q. What is server side baking?  

A. It is a modification to the LL code which will move baking (or rendering) of your avatar to the region server that your Avatar is currently occupying.  Previously all avatars were rendered on your client (or personal computer, Mac, etc)

Q. Will I have to do anything to my computer to take advantage of it?

A. Yes.  All viewers will have to be updated to use it.

Q. Do I have to update my client?

A. No, you do not have to update your client, but your avatar will continue to render the “old way” which means that there may be white masks for some parts of your avatar or clothing because some textures from  the SSB code will not be recognized by the older client.

Q. What viewers have been updated?

A. The LL Second Life V3 viewer will be updated as well as most major third party viewers. Check with your particular viewer website for updates.

Q What are the pros and cons?

A. Pros – Faster avatar rendering with less resources needed on your computer. This means your computer will be able to do things in SL a little more efficiently.

Cons – It will require you to update your viewer, assuming an update is available.  As with any change, there is likely to be some issue that hasn’t been discovered through the beta testing that may adversely affect your experience within SL.

Q. Why Why Why?

A. Because it will make avatar rendering much more efficient since now the baking will not have to depend on connections and computers of individuals which can be very laggy at times.  If you have a slow computer it will not matter to everyone else. They will see a beautifully rendered avatar  a lot more quickly.

I open my eyes slightly and see my pup bouncing around on my bed, attempting to motivate me….

*Yawns*

Yeah, I’m a wee bit sleepy…. Late nights will do that to you…. This morning I got out of bed and reached for the first piece of clothing I could find…  So what if it happened to be my boyfriend’s dress shirt from the night before…. my hair is still half braided from being up, and I even forgot to take off my necklace…. I open the dresser drawer and reach for my newest pair of jeans… They fit perfectly and have a bit of whimsy to them, which is a total plus for me…

In my morning state, I happen to grab two different colored kicks (sneakers for those who don’t actually call them “kicks”), but I don’t even notice this mistake till later…. well.. They seem to match even though it wasn’t on purpose….

I glance in the mirror and walk out….. gotta walk the dog…..
