Several months ago I blogged about the benefits of being in the Fashion Consolidated group. This is your reminder that this is a group to join and keep. Many times designers will send information on freebies and dollarbies to the group as well as send out free gifts. What kind of free gifts? Waiting in the notice archives right now are a set of skins, dresses, tattoos and more.
To Join:
Do a search in groups for the group called Fashion Consolidated. (When I do a group search I use the phrase fashion consolidated and it is the top choice). Join this group. It is free to join.
To Get the Current Gifts:
Go to the Notices. Go to the any of the notices with a box attachment. Click Open Attachment. Do this for each box. You are now the proud owner of boxes that contain goodies from popular designers all over Second Life. Be sure to grab them all before they expire. So hurry!
The Rules:
There is no chatter allowed on the group IMs unless it is related to a notice that just went out from a designer. All other idle chatter will not be tolerated in this group. They are really die hard about this. Some group members will even tell you off for chatting about a release notice you just got out of habit. If you want to chat fashion then you need to join the sister group called Fashion Consolidate Cafe.

Thanks for the write-up Cherlindrea, and your kind words. Just one small update: the policy on group IMs for the Fashion Consolidated group changed in March - now all group IMs are formally disallowed in the main group. This change was made because the dividing line between on and off-topic was hard for some to understand, and the dynamics of group IM for very large groups are just too broken. As you mentioned, the Fashion Consolidated Cafe group was set up just to give people that choice that LL continue not to provide: those who want to chat with others within the FashCon community can opt into such chat by joining the Cafe group.
If anyone would like to support my year-old(!) JIRA for individual group IM muting choice, please see https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/MISC-64 - comments in particular help to draw LL’s attention to what an important issue this is to all large groups.
Thanks for the mention, and I hope your readers continue to enjoy the group.
Thank you for the update on the chat rules. I edited the blog to reflect the changes. I am thinking about doing a specific blog on Jira issues that need some attention.
2 quick questions regarding this issue.
If you join a groups “chat” version of their group do you still get the notices or are you required to keep 2 groups slots for this purpose?
Secondly, can everyone see the text that’s been crossed out or is it just me?
1. The notices are only in the FashCon, the Cafe group is for chatting.
2. I left what was edited out so people who returned would not be confused. Everyone can see that crossed out part.
I’d joined last year but after the designers were being screwed by content theft left and right and there was little notice taken in the group, I opted out.
I prefer to support content creators. Without them, we’d have to run up our own dresses. :)
Katerina, just to echo what Cherlindrea said, the Cafe group doesn’t pass on notices from the main group no; it’s existence is just to give group members the option to opt in or out of group IM chat that LL continue to deny us. Seems to work mostly, and the Cafe is a happy place.
Ernestine, I really don’t know what you mean. I take content theft extremeley seriously and pay for dedicated staff to review and moderated content on the group - a job of many hours every week. This includes piracy claims and counterclaims. I can’t hope to be judge and jury in every case and won’t do unsubstantiated witch-hunts, but when someone is a proven pirate, DMCAs have been lodged etc., I take swift and merciless action. It’s why I currently have some quite arduous continuing “why did you kick me?” notecards to deal with when I next log on.
